Everything Bryan Harsin, players said after losing to LSU

Auburn blew a 17-0 lead over the LSU Tigers Saturday night in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Whenever Auburn and LSU play a football game, it is destined to be weird.

That was once again the case Saturday night in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn took a 17-0 lead but ultimately fell, 21-17, to the Bayou Bengals.

While [autotag]Robby Ashford[/autotag] had his best college game, the host Tigers were unable to overcome four turnovers and another poor offensive performance in the second half.

The Tigers are 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the SEC. Bryan Harsin and several players met with the media after the game to discuss the loss and how they will attempt to move on. Here is everything they said.

Auburn vs. LSU: Stream, injury report, broadcast info for Saturday’s game

Here is all the information that you need to know ahead of Auburn’s game against LSU.

Auburn hosts LSU on Saturday night, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

Auburn hopped back into the win column last week after scraping by Missouri, 17-14 in overtime. After jumping out to a 14-0 lead, Missouri stormed back to tie the game at 14-14 before halftime. Auburn’s [autotag]Anders Carlson[/autotag] hit a 39-yard field goal to put Auburn ahead, 17-14 through one overtime possession. Missouri almost answered with a game-winning touchdown, but running back Nathaniel Peat fumbled the football just shy of the goal line. Auburn’s [autotag]Derick Hall[/autotag] recovered the football, and the game ended with Auburn on top.

LSU has bounced back from a last-second loss to Florida State to win three straight games heading into this weekend’s game. Most recently, LSU defeated New Mexico, 38-0 at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. The Bayou Bengals also hold one SEC win this season, defeating Mississippi State 31-16 on Sept. 17.

Auburn’s [autotag]Robby Ashford[/autotag] will lead the offense for the second-straight week, as T.J. Finley is still battling a shoulder sprain. It was also announced Friday that starting center [autotag]Tate Johnson[/autotag] will miss the remainder of the season after having surgery on his elbow.

Here’s all the key information that you need to know for Saturday night’s game at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Auburn player wins defensive lineman SEC Player of the Week award

Auburn’s rough win still had some bright spots.

It was a rough win for Auburn against Missouri, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t anything to be proud of.

The Tigers were able to boast a particularly great performance from defensive end [autotag]Derick Hall[/autotag] on Saturday, and the team isn’t the only one who noticed it. Hall was named the SEC’s defensive lineman Player of the Week on Monday for his efforts on defense in the victory.

Hall was everywhere on Saturday. Against Missouri, Hall had six total tackles β€” three of which went for a loss β€” and two sacks. He also picked off a tipped ball from Mizzou quarterback Brady Cook that gave Auburn its first turnover of the year. Hall made up the majority of the team’s four sacks and seven tackles for loss in the victory at home.

The stellar performance was a much-needed burst of energy for an Auburn defense that got bullied against Penn State, but the Tigers will need something similar when it plays the No. 1 team in the nation, the Georgia Bulldogs, at Jordan-Hare on Saturday.

Everything Bryan Harsin, players said after beating Missouri

Bryan Harsin has never seen a game end quite like that he said afterward. Here is the rest of what he said after Auburn’s win.

Even the Auburn coaches and players could not believe the ending in the Tiger’s 17-14 win over Missouri in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Auburn took a 17-14 lead in overtime after a 39-yard field goal from [autotag]Anders Carlson[/autotag] and Missouri had a chance to win the game with a touchdown. Running back Nathaniel Peat was inches away from scoring a walk-off touchdown but dropped the football just before crossing the goal line and Auburn recovered in the endzone to secure the win.

Despite another poor performance from the offense, Auburn is 1-0 in SEC play and 3-1 overall. Here is everything [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] and the players had to say about the game, the celebration, and more.

Winners and Losers from Auburn beating Missouri

It was ugly and a bad game but several players had good games for Auburn.

Auburn needed a win to prevent their season from being derailed. They got the win but I doubt anyone is feeling better about this team than if they had lost.

Outside of their first two drives, Aburn’s offense was completely unable to move the ball against Missouri. Thankfully for them and [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag], the defense and [autotag]Oscar Chapman[/autotag] stepped up and were able to keep the Tigers in the game and eventually win 17-14 when Missouri gave the game away, twice.

Here are the winners and losers from Auburn’s first SEC win of the season and a must-win game for Harsin.

Auburn, Bryan Harsin escape Missouri 17-14 in overtime

There was no way that game was going to end in a normal fashion.

The Auburn Tigers flirted with suffering their second straight home loss but were able to pull out an ugly 17-14 win over the Missouri Tigers.

With the game tied at 14-14, Missouri advanced all the way to Auburn’s 3-yard line with under a minute to play. Instead of attempting to punch it into the endzone they elected to settle for a chip shot field goal but missed the 26-yarder and the game went to overtime.

After narrowly avoiding an interception and a Missouri penalty allowed Anders Carlson a second field goal, Auburn took a 17-14 lead. Missouri was inches away from winning on a touchdown run but running back Nathaniel Peat fumbled the ball into the end zone and Derick Hall recovered it to win the game.

Auburn looked to be in complete control of the game in the first quarter, steamrolling their way to a 14-0 lead behind [autotag]Tank Bigsby[/autotag] and [autotag]Robby Ashford[/autotag].

Those were the last points Auburn scored in the regulation, as the Tigers punted on eight of their next nine drives and Carlson missed a field goal as the first half ended.

The offensive line once again struggled to give the offense room to work, the home Tigers managed just 1.8 yards per carry and allowed 4.0 sacks and 12.0 tackles for loss.

Auburn’s defense allowed back-to-back touchdown drives in the second quarter but was able to rebound and kept the game tied. They forced five three-and-outs in the second half and were finally able to make disruptive plays, making 4.0 sacks and 7.0 tackles for loss.

And for the first time this season, they were able to force a takeaway. Nehemiah Pritchett deflected a pass and Derick Hall was able to haul it in for the interception to set up Auburn’s second touchdown.

Five takeaways from Auburn’s win over Missouri

Well, that was certainly a football game.

Of all the football games to ever happen, that was certainly one of them.

Auburn beat Missouri by a score of 17-14 β€” more aptly, Missouri beat Missouri twice by both missing a field goal on the goal line as time expired and then subsequently dropping a football right before it crossed the plane. As such, rumors that [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag]Β would be fired if he lost to Missouri can be put on hold for now, but the win was an ugly one that won’t leave Auburn fans too happy.

Here are five takeaways from a rare win that most involved would like to forget:

Photo Gallery: Pregame sights ahead of Auburn vs. Penn State

Here are the best pregame images from Saturday’s game between Auburn and Penn State at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Campus has been buzzing all week in anticipation of this massive matchup between Auburn and Penn State. Today, the meeting finally takes place.

Auburn’s uniform of choice has been discussed all week after rumors of the team playing the game in orange jerseys to go along with the “All Auburn, All Orange” theme that encourages fans in attendance to wear orange to the game.

However, judging by early photos, the Tigers will play in their traditional navy jerseys over white pants. They will incorporate more orange into their look, however, as the orange facemasks that first appeared in last season’s game against Ole Miss will be worn with the usual white helmets.

Tiger Walk was electric, and the early scene inside Jordan-Hare Stadium is already invigorating. Here is a look at the pregame scene ahead of Saturday’s game between Auburn and Penn State on the Plains.

Auburn defensive end Derick Hall leads college football in edge rushing stat

The NFL prospect has certainly been showing his worth.

[autotag]Derick Hall[/autotag] is an NFL draft prospect for 2023. So far this season, he’s certainly been playing like it.

According to PFF college, Hall currently leads the NCAA in quarterback pressures with 14. That’s one more than Washington’s Bralen Trice and UCLA’s Grayson Murphy, who both clock in with 13 pressures each.

Hall has racked up 10 total tackles and converted one of those pressures into a sack two games into 2022 against the FCS’ Mercer Bears and the Sun Belt’s San Jose Spartans. He’ll get a true test of his pass-rushing prowess this Saturday, though, when he faces off against Penn State’s offensive line in an attempt to go after Nittany Lions quarterback Sean Clifford.

Last year, Hall netted nine sacks and 52 total tackles with two forced fumbles. He’ll look to improve on those numbers for 2022, especially since multiple NFL teams will be paying attention as the year progresses and he has steadily improved his statistics throughout his tenure as a Tiger.

Orange jerseys for the Penn State game? Social media reacts to potential uniform change

The official Auburn Football Twitter account caused quite a storm late Monday evening.

For last season’s game at Penn State, Auburn Football broke the traditional uniform code by changing the facemask of their helmets from navy blue to white. The move was a jab at Penn State, who elected to hold their annual “white out” game against Auburn.

Auburn went against the grain two more times during the 2021 season, as they would wear orange facemasks against Ole Miss on October 30, and again for the Iron Bowl against Alabama on November 27.

The theme for this weekend’s game against Penn State is “All Auburn, All Orange”, which encourages fans to wear orange to the game in support of the Tigers. It has also been confirmed that the white helmets with orange facemasks will also be worn to mark the occasion.

However, Auburn Football’s official Twitter account changed its profile picture late Monday evening to an image of the Auburn logo outlined in white with an orange background… and Auburn fans everywhere began speculating as to what the true meaning behind the change could mean.

The consensus from Auburn fans on social media is that the cryptic post is Auburn’s way of hinting that the team could wear orange jerseys on Saturday.

Speculation began to grow Monday afternoon during Auburn’s weekly press conference. [autotag]Derick Hall[/autotag] and [autotag]Owen Pappoe[/autotag] were asked to give their opinion on what uniform changes they hope to see, and both of them said that they would like to wear orange jerseys. Pappoe even said that “there’s going to be some kind of surprise” to the traditional Auburn uniform at some point this season.

No matter what the intent of Auburn Football’s social media team was on Monday, the profile picture change definitely sparked a conversation on Twitter. Here are the best reactions to Auburn’s possible uniform change.
