A former five-star wide receiver is no longer planning a visit to Nebraska this weekend.

A former five-star wide receiver was planning a visit to Nebraska this weekend, but a new report said the visit has been canceled. Demond Demas was expected to make the trip to the Lincoln campus this weekend.

Matt Zenitz, a national college football reporter for 247Sports, reported the change. No specifics were given for the cancellation.

Demas is a former receiver for Texas A&M. He was ranked as the No. 2 wide receiver for the Class of 2020.

In 14 games with the Aggies, he made 15 receptions for 235 yards and a touchdown. Demas was dismissed from A&M after a series of legal issues.

He recently made headlines by changing his X bio, which now includes the phrase ball catcher @huskerfootball.

The University of Nebraska has offered a scholarship to a former five-star wide receiver. Demond Demas plays for Garden City Community College out of Kansas.

Demas is a former receiver for Texas A&M. He was ranked as the No. 2 wide receiver for the class of 2020.

In 14 games with the Aggies, he made 15 receptions for 235 yards and a touchdown. He currently has 23 catches for 269 yards and one touchdown for Garden City CC.

He was dismissed from A&M after facing a series of charges related to the assault of his girlfriend in March of 2022. This is one of several JUCO offers the Huskers have made.

‘Once an Aggie, always an Aggie.’ Former Texas A&M WR Demond Demas looking toward greener football pastures

Ahead of his first season with Garden City Community College, former Aggies WR Demond Demas is ready to redeem his image on and off the field.

Back in February, it was reported that former five-star prospect and wide receiver Demond Demas, who Aggie fans all remember as the potential “future” of Texas A&M’s offense for years to come, announced his intentions to take the JUCO route after committing to Garden City Community College in Garden City (KS), eleven months after entering the transfer portal on March 28 of last year.

With the expectation that he would return for the Aggies 2022 campaign, multiple off-the-field incidents, including charges related to the assault of his girlfriend during the summer of 2020, arose, temporarily plaguing his football future, as he chose to sit out of the entire season to weigh his options, and of course, reflect on his past discretions.

In just two seasons in College Station, Demas recorded 15 receptions for 235 yards and only one touchdown in 8 games played in 2021, yet flashed moments of brilliance due to his elite athleticism and big-play potential, traits that will likely make him the most sought-after JUCO product by this time next year.

On Wednesday, Demas sat down with GCCC football play-by-play announcer Cal Friedman to preview the Broncbuster’s 2023 season, the chaos surrounding his high school recruitment, his excitement to get back on the field for the first time in two seasons, and most notably, his continuous love for Texas A&M despite their eventual split.

Transfer Portal: Former top recruit announces plan to leave Texas A&M

Former 5-star recruit Demond Demas announces he’s entering the transfer portal and leaving Texas A&M.

In the class of 2020, not many recruits were more highly touted than Demond Demas. The 6-foot-3 wide receiver was the #4 wide receiver in the nation, and #3 overall recruit in the state of Texas, and his decision to attend Texas A&M was a glimpse into the future of potential for A&M on the recruiting trail.

Unfortunately for Demas and for A&M, his two years in Aggieland haven’t lived up to the billing. He has never able to grasp a consistent role on the field, and faced off-field concerns for multiple situations including charges related to assault of his girlfriend, which led to a suspension for the program this spring.

Combine those scenarios with the fact that in the 2021 and 2022 recruiting classes A&M added 2 5-star and 2 4-star WR recruits while retaining veterans like Ainias, the writing on the wall seemed clear that Demas would continue to have trouble establishing himself as a mainstay in the Aggies offense.

On Monday night, Demas announced that he would be entering the transfer portal via a statement on twitter. He called playing for A&M a “dream come true”, and said that the decision was “not an easy one” because of everything that comes with playing for A&M, but that he looked forward to the future chasing his “dream of being an NFL wide receiver.”
