Penn State football recruiting: Players to watch in Class of 2023

Penn State football recruiting efforts focusing on the Class of 2023

We are nearing the home stretch of the college football season and Penn State has still kept busy with their recruiting process.

The Nittany Lions currently have their eyes on a few players for their class of 2023. Let’s take a look at the top two players.

The first one is a four-star cornerback out of Dallas, Texas in Malik Muhammad. He recently dropped his top 12 schools and Penn State made the list. Muhammad would be a big addition to a team that will potentially be losing a good amount of secondary players after this season to the draft.

Penn State will compete with other big schools for Muhammad, including Alabama and Georgia. If they are able to land him, that would be a massinve recruit for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State will currently have five defensive backs from the 2022 class, led by safety Cristian Driver, son of former Green Bay Packers legendary wide receiver Donald Driver.

They also currently have one defensive back in the 2023 class in three-star cornerback from Bridgeville, Pennsylvania in Lamont Payne.

The next player to keep an eye on is three-star edge rusher out off edge rusher out of Oradell, New Jersey in De’Juan (DJ) Samuels.

Penn State has a history of producing edge rushers for the NFL, and Samuels would be a nice addition to a team that develops edge rushers very well.

Samuels has been tearing it up in high school. He recently broke his high school sack record as a junior.

Samuels has interest from several teams across the country, including Penn State as well as Rutgers, which he discusses over at Rutgers Wire.

The Nittany Lions have a bright future ahead of them. If they are able to land one or even both Muhammad and Samuels, that would be a huge boost to their defensive recruiting process.
