The top 2024 linebacker class currently belongs to Auburn

Auburn’s 2024 recruiting class is even more impressive on a smaller scale.

Auburn is building a solid recruiting class for the 2024 cycle. So far, the Tigers own the No. 14 recruiting class according to 247Sports, and 75% of their commitments are considered “blue chips” according to On3.

On a smaller scale, Auburn’s 2024 haul is even more impressive.

Rivals recently broke down the top linebackers for the 2024 class as part of their Rivals Rankings Week series. Several top programs such as Michigan, Notre Dame, and Oregon are on the list, but who is at the top? The Auburn Tigers.

Auburn has reeled in three linebackers to this point in the cycle, including the No. 2 linebacker in the class, [autotag]Demarcus Riddick[/autotag]. Rivals says that Riddick’s flip from Georgia to Auburn in July is considered a monumental win for [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag].

The Clanton (Ala.) Chilton County high four-star linebacker made one of the biggest moves of the summer when he flipped his commitment from Georgia to Auburn in a huge recruiting victory for coach Hugh Freeze. Getting closer to the decision, Alabama was a main contender to flip Riddick but he chose the Tigers instead.

Four-star [autotag]Joseph Phillips[/autotag] and three-star [autotag]DeAngelo Barber[/autotag] round out Auburn’s top linebacker class. Both players committed to Auburn over the summer.

Auburn receives another projection for four-star WR Malcolm Simmons

The four-star wide receiver from Alexander City will attend Big Cat Weekend. Can Auburn keep the local product close to home?

After securing the commitment of five-star linebacker [autotag]Demarcus Riddick[/autotag] earlier this week, Auburn could reel in another talented in-state product as its next commitment.

It is no secret that Auburn has been at the top of four-star wide receiver [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag]’ list for a while. With his commitment date looming, the Tigers seem to be in a great position to land him.

Earlier this month, Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports submitted a crystal ball projection for Simmons in favor of Auburn. Ahead of Big Cat Weekend, Jeffrey Lee of On3 has joined the party. He submitted a projection on Thursday that Simmons will commit to Auburn, with 60% confidence.

In an interview with Chad Simmons of On3, the Alexander City product says that Auburn has been persistent in their recruitment, and has recruited him the hardest. That is why the Tigers are the frontrunners.

“Auburn is on top for me because of the coaches, the fan base, and how they have recruited me,” Simmons said in an interview with On3. “It is a great place, the staff would be great to play for and I am really high on them right now. I also like the recruits they are bringing in. I always talk to [autotag]Walker White[/autotag], [autotag]Bryce Cain[/autotag], [autotag]DeAngelo Barber[/autotag], and some others. They are great guys and they would be great to play with.”

Simmons is a four-star industry-rated athlete from the class of 2024 and is considered to be a top-25 recruit from the state of Alabama across all four recruiting outlets. According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, Liberty is the lone program that is contending with Auburn to land Simmons. However, Auburn has a 98.4% chance to earn his commitment.
