Kings unlikely to part with De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton for Ben Simmons

The Sacramento Kings are unwilling to give up De’Aaron Fox or Tyrese Haliburton in exchange for Ben Simmons.

With the cat now out of the bag that Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons wants out of the City of Brotherly Love, reports will fly about the 25-year-old three-time All-Star.

Simmons, who has spent the entirety of his career in Philadelphia, had a tough postseason. His foul shooting plummeted to 34.2% and it affected his aggressiveness. Now, he and the Sixers are looking to go separate ways. Simmons needs a change of scenery at this point.

There was a report that Simmons wanted to go to one of the three contending teams in California, but that was repudiated. It appears he is willing to go to any of the other 29 teams.

One of the teams that could have interest in Simmons is the Sacramento Kings, who need someone like him to transform their defense. However, the Sixers reportedly want De’Aaton Fox or Tyrese Haliburton in return, and the Kings are unlikely to offer those two young talents.

Per Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee:

As for Sacramento, sources have suggested the 76ers would only be willing to consider an offer that includes De’Aaron Fox or Tyrese Haliburton. The Kings are unlikely to part with either player, but they can offer Buddy Hield, a prolific 3-point shooter who would space the floor for Joel Embiid; Marvin Bagley III, a former No. 2 pick who has yet to reach his potential; and other assets, including multiple first-round draft picks.

It would not make much sense for the Sixers to acquire Buddy Hield if they’re going to give up Simmons. Unless they believe that Tyrese Maxey can take over that starting point guard role and help Hield be successful within the offense here.

On the flip side, Sacramento is banking a lot of its future on Fox and Haliburton. The two of them had solid seasons in the 2020-21 season. If the Kings could add Simmons without giving up those two, they could be in contention for their first playoff appearance since 2006.

Which NBA players committed the most technical fouls last season?

Technical fouls are a part of basketball at every level, but when called in the NBA, they also come with significant fiscal consequences.

Technical fouls are a part of basketball at every level, but when called in the NBA, they also come with significant fiscal consequences.

Technicals can be issued for a myriad of reasons during the course of a game. This includes “non-unsportsmanlike” reasons such as excessive timeouts, delay of game, incorrect number of players on the floor or hanging on the basket and/or rim.

However, more detrimental are unsportsmanlike whistles for conduct such as disrespectfully addressing an official, physically contacting an official, overt actions indicating resentment of a call or non-call, use of profanity, taunting or deliberately throwing elbows at an opponent.

While the players we’ll discuss in the list are the modern leaders of getting T’d up, no one comes remotely close to what Rasheed Wallace accomplished during the 2000-01 campaign. Wallace was called for 41 technical fouls that season, which forced the league the eventually change the rules.

Nowadays, players are automatically suspended once they reach sixteen technical fouls in a single season — as Dwight Howard was this past season. Players then receive another automatic suspension with each passing two technical fouls they are called for (e.g. technical fouls No. 18, No. 20, etc.) subsequently.

Even though none of these players come close to matching the prolific rate Wallace once had, the following players are the ones who best embody his spirit:
