The Kentucky Wildcats softball team had a tough weekend, losing all three games in their series with the Florida Gators. They were outscored 26 – 4, and two of the games ended via the run rule.
On Tuesday, Kentucky traveled back home, hoping to get back in the win column in a game with the Dayton Fliers. The Cats would get a 4 – 3 victory.
Dayton scored first, but Grace Lorsung tied it with a second inning homerun. The Fliers answered everytime the Cats tied it, until the sixth inning. Trailing 3 – 2, Cassie Reasner doubled in a run to tie it, then Lauryn Borzilleri singled hom Reasner for the game-winning run.
Reasner was the star for Kentucky, driving in two runs in the game. Meanwhile, Sydney Langdon and Stephanie Schoonover combined on the mound to hold Dayton to five hits.
Next up for the Wildcats is another three game series with an SEC foe in Alabama. The Cats are 0 – 6 in conference play and would like to change that against a ranked Crimson Tide team. Game one can be watched on SEC Network+.
