Davante Adams suddenly healed from hamstring injury, expects to play this week for Jets

Immediately following his trade to the Jets, Davante Adams is almost miraculously healed from his hamstring injury and expecting to play.

It’s a miracle. The moment Davante Adams donned a New York Jets jersey, he’s as good as new. The hamstring injury that popped up in practice and had him out the past three games is gone. Just watch as he trots onto the practice field, ready to go in his new green and white Jets uniform.

This after not practicing sing just prior to requesting a trade.

This should come as no real surprise. His timetable for return was always, oddly (but not really), the exact amount of time it took to trade him.

Now just a day after joining the Jets, he is expecting to play this week for the Jets. Quite the miracle.

I guess it’s like they say, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”

All snark aside, there was really no way the Raiders could let Davante play once he requested a trade. It just got kind of ridiculous when the head coach is suggesting that if Adams were ready to go, he would play. That would be awkward to say the least, and considerably damaging to the team dynamic. And if he had even a tweak to his hamstring, it would risk killing any trade in the works if he were to aggravate it.

For the Raiders, it’s a good thing that Davante is ready to go right away. It raises the possibility that the conditions on the trade that would turn into a second round pick.

So, good for Davante. He’s healthy and happy. And the Raiders can move on.

Antonio Pierce claims that when Davante Adams is healthy Raiders will play him

Will Davante Adams ever play for the Raiders again? Antonio Pierce says he will if he’s healthy and still on the team.

To listen to Antonio Pierce talk about Davante Adams, you’d think there’s nothing else going on with the All Pro receiver than a nagging hamstring issue.

“The update is Davante’s doing well,” said Pierce. “Hamstring’s getting there, he’s getting closer to getting back on the field. On the practice field and in good spirits. Talked to him, so everything’s good.”

Yeah, no. Everything is not good. Davante requested a trade last week and the Raiders have spent the past week and a half reaching out to interested teams trying to make that trade happen.

Putting a player on the field who doesn’t want to be here may not go over too well with the players who do want to be here. So, the question is, will Davante Adams play another snap for the Raiders?

“He’s still a Raider. He’s never not been a Raider,” Pierce said.

“He’s still a Raider. When he’s healthy and he can play, we’ll play him. He’s just not healthy right now. He’s getting closer though, that’s the good part. He’s working every day to get that hamstring right. He’s in the right head space, mentally. We talked recently and had a good conversation and he’s ready to play football.”

I’ll let you choose whether to believe that to be the full truth or not. And who knows if Pierce and Adams were able to smooth things over since the initial request.

One reason to take this high road of sorts for Pierce is to not put the leverage completely in the camp of interested teams. If he can convince them the Raiders are ready to keep Adams should they not up their offers, they will have more of a sense of urgency.

But, yeah, it’s hard to imagine Adams suiting up for the Raiders again at this point.
