BUBBA WALLACE (+1400) will be pulling out all the stops in the regular-season finale, trying to will his way into the playoffs.

He is 21 points short of Buescher, so he likely is going to need a checkered flag to get into the Group of 16 drivers who will be battling for a championship. But, there is still math which gets him into the picture, even if he doesn’t get the win. He has a lot at stake, and he is a good bet at this price since he won’t be nearly as comfortable as many of the other drivers in the field.

2024 Cook Out Southern 500 – Contender

CHRIS BUESCHER (+2500) is a value play at this price. Remember last season when Ross Chastain pulled off an insane wall move at Martinsville to sling shot around the final corner to get into the Championship 4 last season? Expect desperation like that at Darlington, especially when it comes to Buescher, Wallace, and others still jockeying to get into the Final 16.

Buescher has OK numbers in his career at the track, posting a top-5 finish, 4 top-10 runs and 22 laps led with a 17.4 AFP in 14 career Cup starts.

BUESCHER TOP-10 FINISH (-115) is also a solid play at this price level.

2024 Cook Out Southern 500 prop pick

CHASE BRISCOE TOP-10 FINISH (+350)

A lot can change between the start of the race, and the finish, especially at the “Track Too Tough To Tame”. However, Briscoe goes off 3rd, and he’s in a strong position to get off to a good start. For the opportunity to multiply up by 3 1/2 times, play Briscoe, and hope for the best.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The NASCAR Cup Series Darlington Raceway Sunday for the 2024 Goodyear 400. The green flag is scheduled to drop approximately at 3 p.m. ET (FS1). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the 2024 Goodyear 400 odds, and make our expert NASCAR picks and predictions.

2024 Goodyear 400: What you need to know

  • Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin leads all active drivers with 4 wins and an 8.4 Average-Finish Position (AFP) in 23 career Cup starts at Darlington
  • Hamlin also leads all drivers with 978 laps led, and he has posted 12 top-5 finishes among 16 top-10 runs
  • Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson has managed just 1 win in his 12 career Darlington Cup starts, but he has a 9.4 AFP and 770 laps led. His AFP is 2nd only to Hamlin among active drivers
  • 23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick ranks 3rd among all active drivers with an 11.3 AFP in 9 career Cup starts at Darlington, but he has no wins with 3 top-5 finishes and 102 laps led
  • Penske Racing’s Joey Logano has a win among 6 top-5 finishes and 10 top-10 runs with 293 laps led with a 13.2 AFP in 20 career Cup starts at the “Lady in Black”
  • Front Row Motorsports driver Michael McDowell has just 2 top-10 finishes in 17 career Cup starts at Darlington, posting a dismal 26.8 AFP
  • Trackhouse Racing’s Daniel Suarez has struggled over the years at Darlington, posting a poor 23.9 AFP with just 1 top-10 finish and 1 lap led with 3 DNFs in 12 career Cup starts at the track
  • Penske’s Austin Cindric has also struggled at Darlington. In his 4 career Cup starts here, he has a 21.0 AFP. His best finish at the South Carolina oval is 16th
  • Hendrick’s Chase Elliott has a dismal 17.0 AFP in 14 career Darlington Cup starts with 4 top-5 finishes among 7 top-10 runs at with 3 DNFs

2024 Goodyear 400 – Expert pick

Odds provided by FanDuel Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 2:13 a.m. ET.

DENNY HAMLIN (+450) has the 2nd-shortest odds to win at Darlington, right behind the chalk, which is Larson (+400).

Hamlin has dominated over the years at the venerable South Carolina track, while posting 4 checkered flags in 23 career Cup starts. He has managed 12 top-5 finishes in those Cup runs, which equates to 52.2% of his career starts at the track. That’s easily the best rate among all active drivers. Plus, 16 of his runs have resulted in top-10 finishes, or a 69.6% conversion rate.

2024 Goodyear 400 – Contender

JOEY LOGANO (+2500) hasn’t had a great season by his standards, ranking just 17th in the NASCAR Cup Series standings with 269 points, 198 behind the leader (Larson) through 12 starts.

Logano is coming off a dismal 34th-place showing at the AdventHealth 400 last weekend in Kansas, and he has finished 11th or worse in 4 straight starts.

While there haven’t been a lot of signs of Logano pulling out of his nosedive, perhaps a start at Darlington will get him going. He has a checkered flag in 20 career Cup starts among his 10 top-10 finishes with 293 laps led and a 13.2 AFP. He is certainly worth a roll of the dice for a chance to multiply up by 25 times.

If you’re a little more conservative, LOGANO TOP-10 FINISH (+100) is still reasonably priced.

2024 Goodyear 400 – Props and matchbets

KYLE BUSCH (+126) over Brad Keselowski (-164) is a solid matchbet play.

Busch has a win among 6 top-5 finishes and 14 top-10 runs with a 13.3 AFP in 24 career Cup starts at Darlington, while leading the pack in 899 laps.

While Keselowski actually has a higher career AFP (11.4) at Darlington, he is really struggling lately. The RFK Racing driver had back-to-back runner-up finishes at Texas and Talladega, but he also has 5 finishes of 24th or higher in 12 starts this season. Busch is a little steadier, and will get the job done H2H.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Darlington Raceway for the 2023 Cook Out Raceway 500 Sunday night. The green flag is set to drop shortly after 6 p.m. ET (USA Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the 2023 Cook Out Southern 500 odds, and make our expert NASCAR picks and predictions.

2023 Cook Out Southern 500: What you need to know

  • Hendrick Motorsports driver William Byron picked up the victory in mid-May at the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway. He will start 23rd Sunday
  • Joe Gibbs Racing driver Christopher Bell is on the pole after posting a best speed of 169.193 mph, edging out teammate Denny Hamlin at 169.042 mph
  • Hamlin leads all drivers with 4 Darlington victories and a 7.7 Average-Finish Position (AFP) with 801 laps led and 0 DNFs

  • Wood Brothers Racing’s Harrison Burton finished 6th at Darlington in May. He has a respectable 13.7 AFP in his 3 Cup starts at the track. Burton goes starts 32nd Sunday
  • Kaulig Racing’s Justin Haley produced a top-10 finish in May, and he has ended up inside the top 20 on 3 of his 5 Cup starts at Darlington, while managing a respectable 16.6 AFP

2023 Cook Out Southern 500 – Expert pick(s)

Odds provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 5:02 a.m. ET.

DENNY HAMLIN (+500) is always a safe play at Darlington. He has 4 victories in his 22 Cup starts, while 12 of his runs (54.5%) have resulted in a finish inside the top 5. Hamlin was a surprising 12th in the race in May, so he is due to bounce back, too.

If you’re looking for a contender with slightly longer odds, Team Penske driver JOEY LOGANO (+1600) is worth a look. He only has 1 checkered flag in his 19 Cup starts, but he has a respectable 13.3 AFP with 293 laps led and just 1 DNF with 10 top-10 finishes.

In addition, it would be a storybook finish if KEVIN HARVICK (+1600) was able to win in his final Darlington Cup start. He has 3 career victories at the “Track Too Tough to Tame,” and he has ended up 5th or better in 14 of his 31 starts at the track while posting a 12.4 AFP. He was a runner-up to Byron back in May and could easily challenge for checkers in his swan song.

2023 Cook Out Southern 500 – Long shot(s)

As far as long shots go, look no further than Legacy Motor Club driver ERIK JONES (+5000). He has managed a pair of victories in his 11 career Cup starts, while ending up inside the top 5 on 5 occasions. He has led 132 laps, while managing an impressive 12.0 AFP. He struggled with a 25th-place finish in May, and is looking for the rebound.
