South Dakotan Logan Storley gets homecoming fight vs. Dante Schiro at Bellator 265

Bellator 265 will mark the fifth time the four-time All-American has competed in his home state.

With Bellator headed back to South Dakota, it’s bringing one of the state’s biggest MMA names with it.

Born in Roslyn, S.D., former Division-I All-American wrestler [autotag]Logan Storley[/autotag] will return to the cage at Bellator 265 when he welcomes promotional newcomer [autotag]Dante Schiro[/autotag], a promotion official recently told MMA Junkie.

Storley (11-1 MMA, 6-1 BMMA) looks to bounce back from his first professional loss suffered to Yaroslav Amosov in November. The split decision nod earned Amosov a title shot, which he capitalized on in a dominant unanimous decision over Douglas Lima.

Schiro (8-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) signed with the promotion in July. He enters Bellator on a two-fight winning streak and has competed in promotions like ONE Championship and LFA.

Storley, 28, was scheduled to compete at Bellator 258 in May. However, hours before the fight was scheduled to take place, his opponent, Omar Hussein, was deemed ineligible to compete by Mohegan Tribe medical staff.

Bellator 265 takes place Aug. 20 at Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. The main card airs on Showtime after prelims on MMA Junkie.

With the addition, the Bellator 265 lineup includes:

  • Sergei Kharitonov vs. Cheick Kongo
  • Adam Borics vs. Jay Jay Wilson
  • Dante Schiro vs. Logan Storley
  • DeAnna Bennett vs. Alejandra Lara
  • Fabio Aguiar vs. Taylor Johnson
  • Kevin Childs vs. Bailey Schoenfelder
  • Mike Hamel vs. Bryce Logan
  • Archie Logan vs. Deven Fisher
  • Marcelo Golm vs. Kelvin Tiller

Bellator signs ONE Championship, LFA alum Dante Schiro to multifight deal

Bellator has added a new welterweight to its roster.

Ten fights into his professional career, [autotag]Dante Schiro[/autotag] has already competed for a handful of promotions – and he recently added another one to his list when he signed a multifight deal with Bellator.

No event, date, or opponent is set for Schiro’s promotional debut at this time, but officials recently informed MMA Junkie of his signing.

Schiro (8-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) enters Bellator after stops in LFA and ONE Championship, as well as fights under a few regional promotions’ banners.

Out of eight professional victories, six have come via stoppage with three knockouts and three submissions. While he went 2-0 in LFA, Schiro suffered one of his two career losses in his lone ONE Championship appearance when he dropped a split decision to Agilan Thani.

The 27-year-old fighter currently rides a two-fight winning streak. In his most recent outing, Schiro defeated UFC alumnus Kenny Robertson via second-round stoppage due to ground-and-pound at Caged Aggression 30 in March.

Schiro becomes the third member of Chosen Few Gym to sign with Bellator, joining teammates light heavyweight Alex Polizzi and welterweight Mark Lemminger. The MacFarland, Wisc., gym also produced former UFC fighter Cole Williams and Dana White’s Contender Series alumnus Alex Gilpin, who most recently competed in PFL.

Short-notice road game no problem for Dante Schiro at ONE Championship 105

It seems Dante Schiro doesn’t mind having the odds stacked against him.

It seems [autotag]Dante Schiro[/autotag] doesn’t mind having the odds stacked against him.

The undefeated welterweight prospect has quickly racked up six wins since turning pro less than 18 months ago, including a pair of victories under the LFA banner. Now he’s making his way overseas – on short notice, and to fight in his opponent’s backyard, no less.

Schiro appears unfazed by seemingly having the deck stacked against him.

“I train all the time, so whether I had a full camp or not a full camp, I’m training all the time anyways, so I’m always in shape and ready to go,” Schiro said. “My hometown, his hometown, it doesn’t matter. It’s still a fight.”

Schiro (6-0) takes on Malaysia’s Agilan Thani (9-4) at Friday’s ONE Championship 105. The night’s main streams on B/R Live following prelims on Facebook and Twitter from Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur. It’s Schiro’s debut with the promotion, and he’s certainly not being handed any freebies, but he insists he’s not going to be outclassed.

“He’s a pretty good fighter,” Schiro said of Thani. “He’s got a lot of heart, which is good, and it seems like he’s going to be there the whole fight, so it’s going to be a tough fight.

“It will be a fun one, but I’ll get the job done.”

It’s certainly not the easiest of ways to try and make a name for one’s self, but with great risk comes great reward. Schiro knows he’s still an unfamiliar name to most, but he believes there’s a real opportunity to make a splash in his ONE debut.

“There’s no pressure,” Schiro said. “I came in here on nine days’ notice or whatever it is, so I’m here to fight.

“I’m there to finish and put on a show. If you like watching fights where people get finished, you’ll want to watch my fights.”
