Tennessee’s dance team shocked the crowd with a surprise addition to its routine

Maybe the best dance routine you will see all season.

The Tennessee football team is having a season for the ages. Up to No. 2 in the most recent AP poll — and tied with juggernaut Ohio State — the Vols are coming off of a win over then-No. 19 Kentucky to the tune of 44-6. They are currently the biggest liability to sportsbooks. And although QB Hendon Hooker is a legitimate Heisman candidate this season, the most impressive moment from Saturday might have happened on the sidelines.

The Tennessee dance team performed as usual during one of the game’s timeouts, but a member of the event staff seemed extremely in the way. There appeared to be a confrontation, and then the most incredible thing happened:

It turns out — as you may have guessed — he wasn’t really a security guard or part of the event staff. The mystery dancer is Michael Galyean, a good friend of Vol dance coach Kelley Tafazzoli.

“At Tennessee, we are focused on the full experience – from the sideline engagement to the in-game entertainment. The marketing/fan experience team, in collaboration with the dance team, brainstormed to create a realistic situation with a plot twist,” Tafazzoli told For The Win via email.

“As soon as we landed on the “security guard” role – I knew the perfect person. I called up my friend Michael Galyean and the rest is history.”

Best dance routine of the year, if you ask me.

Washington to create co-ed dance team to replace cheerleading squad

With the cheerleading squad no longer on the team, Washington is creating a co-ed dance team for game-day entertainment.

The Washington Football Team reportedly found a replacement for its disbanded cheerleading squad, choosing to create a co-ed dance team that will perform at games as part of the new game-day entertainment program.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Washington hired Petra Pope as the senior advisor of the team. Pope is known for managing both the Laker Girls and Knicks City Dancers, and having a big impact on NBA game-day entertainment.

Washington team president Jason Wright expressed his excitement about the move on Wednesday morning, saying that Pope will bring some boldness and creativity to the space that will continue along the lines of the new innovative brand that Washington is building.
