Mavericks at Pistons picks and predictions

Prediction

Mavericks 120, Pistons 109

Moneyline

PASS.

The Mavericks are a far superior team but too expensive to play outright. Avoid backing the Pistons to pull off the upset as well.

Against the spread

BET MAVERICKS -7.5 (-106).

The Mavericks have covered 3 of their last 6 games but have covered 2 of their last 3 on the road. They have a talented side and have far more scoring, notching at least 114 in 3 straight games.

While their defense has left a lot to be desired, the Pistons don’t have the weapons to make them pay. Detroit is 1-2 ATS in its last 3 games as a single-digit home underdog.

Expect the Pistons to again struggle and back MAVERICKS -7.5 (-106).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 234.5 (-110).

If there’s one thing that teams have done as of late, it is hit the Under. The Mavericks have gone Under in 6 of their last 10 games while the Pistons have gone Under in 9 of their last 11.

Detroit has scored Under 110 points per game in 4 of its last 5. It doesn’t have the firepower to help the total go Over here. That said, back UNDER 234.5 (-110).

Dallas Mavericks at Detroit Pistons odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Dallas Mavericks at Detroit Pistons NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Detroit Pistons (19-43) attempt to win back-to-back games for the first time since March 17 and 19. They play host the Dallas Mavericks (34-27), who have won four of their last five games. Tip-off at Little Caesars Arena will be at 7 p.m. ET Thursday. Below, we analyze the Mavericks-Pistons odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Mavericks split their last 10 games, and they covered the spread in only three of those outings. They’re coming off a 30-point win over the Golden State Warriors Tuesday but have several players listed as questionable for Thursday – including PG Luka Doncic and PF Kristaps Porzingis.

The Pistons beat the Atlanta Hawks Monday and have had two days off to prepare for this matchup. They’re seeking consecutive wins for the first time since March, but they don’t seem motivated to do so. Many key players will be held out to rest, while PG Dennis Smith Jr., remains out due to a knee injury.

Mavericks at Pistons: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Mavericks 117, Pistons 106

Money line (ML)

The Mavericks are heavily favored in this matchup despite some of their top players being questionable to play. I’d rather PASS on the money line, especially with how many players may not suit up for them tonight.

I would wait to find out who’s playing and then consider a wager on the spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

Dallas covered the spread easily against the Warriors Tuesday, winning by 30 points as a 4-point underdog. Though the Mavericks covered only three times in their last 10 games, all three of those ATS wins came in their last four outings.

The Pistons are resting a lot of players and could punt this game. Take the MAVERICKS -8.5 (-110), as long as Porzingis or Doncic are playing.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Over/Under is only 214.5 points and is the second-lowest total in the Mavericks’ last 11 games. If Porzingis and Doncic are both sidelined, the final score could be on the lower side but as long as one of them is able to play, I like the OVER 214.5 (-115).

The total went Over in four of the last six head-to-head meetings.
