Oregon baseball ends regular season ranked in Top 25

D1Baseball.com includes Oregon in their last Top 25 ranking of the regular season after sweeping WSU last weekend.

As a team heads into the post-season, it wants to be playing their best.

After a five-game winning streak, including a weekend sweep over Washington State, Oregon Ducks baseball is doing just that and their getting their recognition.

D1baseball.com ranks the Ducks as the No. 23 team in the nation as they prepare for the Pac-12 tournament in Scottsdale, Ariz. where Utah awaits as Oregon’s opening opponent.

The Ducks go into the conference tournament as the 3-seed.

But Oregon (37-16) is far from the only Pac-12 ranked in the Top 25. The Beavers enter the rankings as the No. 6 team although they lost the regular-season title to Arizona on a walk-off double.

Speaking of the Wildcats, Arizona is the No. 18 team in the country and will have the top seed in the Pac-12 tourney. They are hoping for a better result this year after Oregon defeated the Cats in the 2023 tournament.

Tournament games begin on Tuesday with the Ducks opening with the Utes at 2:30 pm on Wednesday.

Duck baseball projected as a 2-seed and play in Clemson Regional

D1Baseball has Oregon projected as a 2-seed in the Clemson Regional where the national 4-seeded Tigers would await.

Clemson might have to call Vandiaerbilt to see what the Oregon Ducks baseball team has to offer when it comes to NCAA regional action.

In their latest Field of 64 projection, D1Baseball.com has Oregon going to Clemson, South Carolina and playing in that regional along with the Tigers, Coastal Carolina, and Sacred Heart.

Going across the country and playing in a regional on the road is nothing new for coach Mark Wasikowski and his Duck team. Just last season, Oregon traveled to Nashville and won the four-team, double-elimination tournament on Vanderbilt’s home field.

If this projection is accurate, the Ducks would have a chance to do something very similar. According to the website, Clemson would be a national 4-seed and would host a Super Regional should the Tigers advance. Currently, Clemson is ranked No. 2 in D1baseball’s Top 25. The Tigers are currently 37-10 and 17-7 in the ACC.

Coastal Carolina, a traditional good baseball program, is having a down season, at least for them. The Chanticleers are currently 28-20 overall and just 11-13 in the Sun Belt Conference.

As for Sacred Heart out of the Northeast Conference, the Pioneers are 27-20 overall, but a whopping 20-7 in league action.

Other notable projections are Oregon State as a 2-seed in the Columbia, SC regional, Utah as a 3-seed in the Norman, Okla. regional and Arizona as a 2-seed in the Santa Barbara regional.

Aggies fall in newest D1Baseball rankings

After going 1-2 in a series against the top-ranked LSU Tigers this weekend, the Aggies took a dive in D1Baseball’s newest Top 25 rankings.

It’s been a rocky season so far for the Texas A&M Aggies baseball squad who are currently 14-6 on the season, recently dropping their opening SEC series against the No.1 ranked LSU Tigers this weekend, but did manage to notch an impressive 8-6 victory in Game 3 on Sunday afternoon to finish 7-2 on the week.

Even after winning eight in a row from Saturday, March 4th to Tuesday, March 14th, their two questionable losses to LSU to the tune of 9-0 in Game 1, and 12-7 in Game 2 had led to future changes to the lineup, specifically moves in the starting pitching rotation. After being ranked 15th in D1Baseball.com’s Top 25 rankings last week, the Aggies took quite the nose dive in this week’s rankings, falling six spots to No. 21 this week.

Even though the Aggies’ struggled against the Tigers early on, Freshman pitcher Justin Lampkin’s relief pitching (4.1 IN, 4 H, 5 SO) and Junior Stanley Tucker’s game-winning double (2 H, 2 RBI) provided multiple bright spots heading into a new week.

Texas A&M will host the Rice Owls in a midweek match-up at Blue Bell Park on March 21st at 6 pm.

Aggies drop to No.15 in newest D1Baseball Rankings

After losing their weekend series to Portland, Texas A&M Baseball dropped from No. 5 to No. 15 in the newest D1Baseball.com Top 25 rankings

Texas A&M (4-3) salvaged their early season image after freshman Jace LaViolette struck gold late after hitting a walk-off double down the right field line to win their final game in an otherwise painfully ugly series vs. the Portland Pilots.

Sitting at a disappointing 4-3 start to the year, the offense has been a shell of itself compared to pre-season expectations, while the Aggies’ bullpen has been borderline inept mainly due to youth and inexperience, but nevertheless, the season must go on, and confidence remains among a group that still dreams of postseason success come summer.

On Monday, D1Baseball.com released their brand new Top 25 Rankings, and to no surprise, Texas A&M dropped 10 spots to No. 15 after spending the week at No. 5 as the shine has come off in a similar fashion to the start of the 2022 season for Jim Schlossnagles’ program, losing 6 of their first 16 games before going on an impressive run in the SEC.

The Aggies’ next three-four opponents include Houston Baptist on Tuesday night, and the Shriner’s Children’s College Classic this coming weekend to face #14 Lousiville, and #24 Texas Tech, so, plenty of opportunities to get back on track in an instant.

Oregon Ducks sneak into D1Baseball’s Preseason Top 25 Rankings

The Oregon Ducks come in at No. 25 in D1Baseball’s preseason rankings ahead of the 2023 baseball season.

College football only ended a few weeks ago, and March Madness is a distant point on the horizon, but the fine folks at D1Baseball.com have already begun looking ahead to the college baseball season, releasing their preseason top 25 rankings on Tuesday.

The Oregon Ducks, fresh off a 36-25 record in 2022, are one of three Pac-12 teams in the top 25, coming in right under the gun at No. 25 overall.

Oregon returns six position player starters and eight pitchers from last year’s team, which qualified for the postseason for a second year in a row, playing in the Louisville Regional. Oregon also brings in a recruiting class that ranked No. 5 at Baseball America ahead of the 2023 season.

Elsewhere around the conference, Stanford comes in at No. 3 after back-to-back appearances in the College World Series, while UCLA comes in at No. 17 overall.

Oregon opens up the baseball season with a home series against Xavier, before heading to Santa Barbara to take on the Gauchos.

Oregon Ducks baseball was picked seventh in the Pac-12 before this season started. They are proving this is why you play the games.

The Ducks are currently 24-9 overall and 10-5 in the Pac-12, good for a tie for first place with Oregon State. Those accomplishments are not going unnoticed.

In the latest D1baseball.com poll Monday morning, Oregon jumped up four spots and entered into the Top 10 as the No. 9 team in the nation. They remain the highest-ranked Pac-12 school with Arizona (12) and Stanford (18) being the other conference schools in the poll.

Looking ahead, the Ducks have the roughest part of their schedule out of the way. The only ranked opponents left to play are Stanford (May 21-23) and Gonzaga (May 3, 11-12), who is 26-13 and just moved into the poll this week at No. 21.

With the conference season half over, the Ducks have won four of the five series they’ve played, including a sweep over the Beavers. The only series that didn’t go Oregon’s way was the weekend trip to Arizona where the Wildcats outslugged Oregon, despite the Ducks winning the finale 18-13.

The season continues this week with five games. San Jose State comes to PK Park this Tuesday and Wednesday before the Ducks travel to Pullman to take on Washington State.

Oregon still has to play Washington, Utah, Stanford, and Cal in conference action.
