Four-star Auburn commit announces offer from CU Buffs

One of Auburn’s top commits picked up an offer from Colorado

In today’s age of college football recruiting, nothing is official until a commit signs. And even then, the booming transfer portal has many players finding a new home each offseason.

With that in mind, the Colorado Buffaloes have entered the race for class of 2026 linebacker and Auburn Tigers commit JaMichael Garrett. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Garrett announced an offer from the Buffs on Sunday via X (formerly Twitter).

Garrett is a four-star prospect (247Sports) from Alabama who committed to the Tigers in July. However, he has since announced other offers from the Vanderbilt Commodores, Houston Cougars and now Colorado.

247Sports ranks Garrett as the No. 7 linebacker and the No. 123 overall prospect in the class of 2026.

Although Garrett is only a junior at Auburn High School, the Buffs need additional depth at linebacker following the departures of 2024 starters LaVonta Bentley and Nikhai Hill-Green. Mantrez Walker was the only class of 2025 linebacker Colorado landed during last month’s early signing period.

Pat Shurmur meets with four-star Oklahoma running back Kaydin Jones

Pat Shurmur went to Oklahoma to visit a four-star running back

Colorado offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur was one of multiple Power Four college football coaches who visited four-star running back Kaydin Jones on Thursday.

Jones, a class of 2026 prospect from Jenks, Oklahoma, posted pictures of himself meeting with Shurmur, UCLA Bruins safeties coach Gabe Lynn and Clemson Tigers running backs coach C.J. Spiller. The visits seemingly occurred at Jenks High School.

Colorado, UCLA and Clemson may be playing from behind in trying to sway Jones. On Wednesday, Jones named the Oklahoma Sooners, Kansas Jayhawks, Vanderbilt Commodores, Tennessee Volunteers and Louisville Cardinals to his top five.

As a junior this past season, Jones rushed for 814 yards (5.5 yards per carry) and eight touchdowns. He also finished with 178 receiving yards and two touchdowns, per MaxPreps.

The 247Sports composite ranks Jones as the No. 19 running back in his class and the No. 3 prospect in Oklahoma.

Colorado offers four-star Clemson quarterback commit

The Buffs have expressed interest in a fascinating dual-threat quarterback prospect

The Colorado Buffaloes have flipped the commitment of a top-flight quarterback before in Julian “JuJu” Lewis and may be looking to do so again.

On Wednesday, Queen Creek High School (Queen Creek, AZ) announced that class of 2026 Clemson Tigers QB commit Tait Reynolds received an offer from the Buffaloes.

Reynolds, billed as a four-star talent and Arizona’s top overall class of 2026 prospect by the 247Sports composite, has received offers from the Tennessee Volunteers, Miami Hurricanes, Oregon Ducks and many other marquee programs.

He initially committed to the Arizona State Sun Devils as one of the region’s top baseball recruits before flipping his intentions to Clemson in July for the gridiron and the diamond.

With a 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame, Reynolds’ physical traits allow him to use his legs and seek out contact. He rushed for 1,426 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior in 2024, often being hailed for his dual-threat ability. As a passer, he completed 62% of his throws for 2,238 yards, 22 touchdowns and five interceptions, per MaxPreps.

CU’s quarterback room looks to be in solid shape for the foreseeable future, but it’s not surprising to see head coach Deion Sanders and his recruiting staff show their interest in Reynolds.

Colorado offers four-star defensive lineman from Travis Hunter’s high school

The Buffs are going after a four-star prospect from Travis Hunter’s high school

Deuce Geralds, one of the most highly sought-after defensive linemen in the class of 2026, announced an offer from the Colorado Buffaloes on Wednesday.

Geralds holds a unique connection to the Buffs as he attends Collins Hill High School (Suwanee, Georgia), which produced CU football star and recent Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. As a junior this past season, Gerlads helped Collins Hill to the third round of Georgia’s Class 6A state playoffs.

Geralds’ junior year numbers explain why he’s a four-star prospect and the fifth-ranked DL in his class (247Sports composite). The 6-foot-2.5, 265-pounder finished the season with 114 total tackles, 30 TFLs, 13 sacks and a forced fumble. In turn, Geralds was named a MaxPreps Junior All-American.

Colorado offers top-ranked two-way prospect Brandon Arrington

Colorado is looking to land another talented two-way player

The Colorado Buffaloes’ season may end on Dec. 28 in the Alamo Bowl, but their recruiting trail always stays hot. As announced via social media on Monday, the Buffs have offered Brandon Arrington Jr., a five-star wide receiver/cornerback in the 2026 recruiting class.

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds and hailing from Spring Valley, California, Arrington holds 36 Division I offers. All major recruiting outlets rank him as a top 50 overall prospect, with On3 and Rivals favoring the Texas A&M Aggies to snag the two-way talent. The 247Sports composite ranks Arrington as the No. 1 athlete in his class.

Arrington is one of the fastest prospects nationally, possessing speed that won him state track and field titles in the 100 and 200-meter dashes.

The Buffaloes just saw Travis Hunter reach unprecedented heights playing both ways, so offering Arrington comes as no surprise.
