Three-star RB Jamarice Wilder becomes latest prospect to decommit from Colorado

Jamarice Wilder became the third prospect to decommit from Colorado this offseason

Now that Colorado’s 2023 football season is complete, the Buffs are in full offseason mode as head coach Deion Sanders continues to lay the program’s foundation.

Unfortunately, not all offseason news is good news. On Monday, the Buffs lost a commitment from class of 2025 running back Jamarice Wilder. The three-star prospect from Venice, Florida previously gave his pledge to Colorado in early August.

Wilder is the third decommitment for the Buffs since the season concluded on Saturday. Class of 2025 quarterback Antwann Hill Jr. and 2024 QB Danny O’Neil represent the other two.

Wilder’s decommitment now leaves Colorado without any class of 2025 pledges.

Hayes Fawcett of On3 was the first to report the news.

Four-star quarterback Antwann Hill Jr. decommits from Colorado

Four-star quarterback Antwann Hill Jr. is no longer a Colorado commit

Just about every college football program is dealing with decommits right now, but Colorado has now suffered three big blows since Nov. 12.

On Sunday, class of 2025 four-star quarterback Antwann Hill Jr. became the latest, joining 2025 wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr. and 2024 offensive lineman Talan Chandler. Hayes Fawcett of On3 was the first to break the news of Hill’s decommitment.

Hill, the No. 5 ranked QB in his class (247Sports Composite), had been committed to Colorado since Oct. 20.

As head coach Deion Sanders said last week, the Buffs are well aware that a commitment doesn’t mean much until the recruit signs. Fortunately, Colorado has plenty of time to find its 2025 quarterback.

The Buffs also still own a commitment from Danny O’Neil, a three-star 2024 quarterback who’s expected to sign in December before joining the program in January.

Winston Watkins Jr. opens up on decision to decommit from Colorado

Winston Watkins Jr. opened up on his decision to decommit from Colorado

Class of 2025 four-star wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr. surprised a lot of people when he decided to decommit from Colorado on Sunday. The young recruit committed to Colorado immediately after Deion Sanders got hired, and he has surely made highlights over the summer at various camps.

Despite the decision to open up his recruitment, Watkins said he’s still considering a future in Boulder, per Adam Gorney of Rivals.

“I’m still messing with Colorado super, super heavy, but I just want to make sure I’m making the right decision,” Watkins told Rivals.

Watkins also told Recruiting News Guru the following: “I am making sure I am making the right decision; I am keeping my options open. There are a lot of schools wanting to contact me, but they are scared of Colorado. I want to make sure everyone can show me their best.”

The First Baptist Academy (Fla.) wide receiver’s attention is currently on the playoffs, but the good news is that Colorado still has a shot of landing him.

Hopefully, Watkins’ decision doesn’t lead to other decommits, although Colorado isn’t the only program dealing with this.

Four-star WR Winston Watkins Jr. decommits from Coach Prime’s Buffs

Winston Watkins Jr. is no longer a Colorado commit

Four-star wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr., a 2025 recruit who committed to Colorado just one day after Deion Sanders was hired last December, is no longer a Buffs pledge.

As first reported by On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Sunday morning, Watkins has made the decision to decommit from CU.

The Florida native is the No. 13 ranked WR and the No. 74 overall prospect in the 2025 class (247Sports Composite). He owns a total of 22 college offers, per Fawcett.

Colorado’s 2025 class is back down to two commits, four-star quarterback Antwann Hill Jr. and three-star running back Jamarice Wilder.

Here’s how social media reacted to Watkins’ decommitment:

Colorado hosting star-studded group of recruits for Oregon State game

Coach Prime and the Buffs are hosting an absolutely ridiculous group of highly-ranked recruits this weekend

Yet another impressive group of recruits will be visiting Boulder this weekend for Colorado’s homecoming game against Oregon State.

So far, head coach Deion Sanders has had great success converting visitors to commits, and if he can land even a couple of this weekend’s prospects, it’ll be a huge win. However, there is one visitor, in particular, who stands out among the rest at a vital position group for the Buffs.

As of this writing, Colorado’s 2024 class has 10 commits and is ranked No. 63 overall by 247Sports.

Check out some of the most notable recruits who will be at CU this weekend:

Class of 2025 four-star LB Elijah Melendez visiting Boulder for homecoming game

After recently naming Colorado to his top 10, four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez plans on visiting Boulder this weekend

The recruiting trail for the Colorado football team isn’t dying down despite the Buffs losing some games lately.

Highly ranked prospects are still making their way to Boulder to check out the program. One of the biggest recruits who will visit this weekend for Colorado’s homecoming game against Oregon State is Class of 2025 four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez.

Melendez recently narrowed down his top list of schools and Colorado is one of the finalists. He revealed his top 10 schools toward the end of October:

The Florida prospect will now get a first-hand look at what the Buffs have to offer.

With the Buffs hosting Oregon State, Melendez will be at Folsom Field for the game, and the 2025 linebacker from Osceola High School has a ton of hype. If head coach Deion Sanders can land him, it would make an already-loaded 2025 class even better.

Five highly-ranked recruits Colorado is trending well with

We could see a commitment coming soon from any one of these highly-ranked recruits

Colorado’s 2024 recruiting class remains a work in progress with the early signing period now less than two months away. As of Thursday, head coach Deion Sanders has nine commits, but it’s safe to say that more are coming.

At the same time, Coach Prime’s 2025 class, which is currently ranked No. 11 overall by 247Sports, is picking up top-end talent with four-star quarterback Antwann Hill Jr. being the latest high school junior to commit.

Overall, you have to like where the Buffs are at with a number of highly-ranked recruits in both classes. Below is a list of five recruits who are trending well with Colorado this fall:

Four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez names CU Buffs to top 10

Coach Prime is in the running for a four-star linebacker from Florida

The Colorado Buffaloes football team had a bye week after a heartbreaking loss to Stanford, so it was a quiet week in Boulder.

However, they added a huge commitment in 2025 four-star QB Antwann Hill Jr. Then, on Sunday, 2025 four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez named Colorado to his top 10 schools, per Hayes Fawcett of On3.

Melendez’s top 10 is as follows:

Melendez plays at Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Florida and has garnered plenty of interest from top programs. It was a bit surprising that neither Florida nor Florida State made his top 10, but he is considering Miami. The No. 21 class of 2025 LB (247Sports Composite) also took a visit to Ohio State over the weekend.

If head coach Deion Sanders can land Melendez, he would mark the Buffs’ first 2025 defensive pledge. Wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr., running back Jamarice Wilder and Hill are Colorado’s three current 2025 commits.

Where Colorado’s 2025 recruiting class ranks nationally following Antwann Hill Jr.’s commitment

Here’s where Colorado’s 2025 recruiting class ranks nationally following Antwann Hill Jr.’s commitment

It’s still early, but Colorado football’s 2025 recruiting class has gotten off to a very strong start.

On Saturday, the Buffaloes earned arguably their most impressive commitment so far in four-star Georgia quarterback Antwann Hill Jr., who became Colorado’s third 2025 pledge, joining four-star wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr. and three-star running back Jamarice Wilder.

However, because the 2025 early signing period is still over one year out, head coach Deion Sanders and his staff have plenty of work ahead to ensure that Hill, Watkins and Wilder sign with the Buffs next winter.

Check out where Coach Prime’s 2025 class ranks nationally following Hill’s commitment, per 247Sports:

Colorado earns four-star QB Antwann Hill Jr.’s pledge in massive commitment

Colorado landed a massive commitment from one of the top 2025 QBs

The Colorado Buffaloes football team has lost three of their past four games, but that hasn’t stopped recruits from showing interest in the program.

On Friday, head coach Deion Sanders and the Buffs landed Class of 2025 four-star quarterback Antwann Hill Jr, as Hayes Fawcett of On3 reported. Hill confirmed his commitment on social media soon after. He chose the Buffs over Florida, Penn State, Alabama and several other big programs.

With four-star wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr. and three-star running back Jamarice Wilder also committed to Colorado’s 2025 class, the future in Boulder is looking terrific.

Hill plays at Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Georgia, and he is the No. 6 ranked QB in his class, per the 247Sports Composite.

Hill spoke to Fawcett about why he chose the Buffs:

“What led me there is, first, their communication. They always communicated with me since the time 12:00 a.m. hit that morning on Aug. 1. To sum it up I can tell they really care about me and want me to take over the program when Shedeur leaves. So whenever Coach Prime said that, I knew he was being 100% honest with me and I knew I would be a fool not take this opportunity that Coach Prime had provided me with.”

This is another massive commitment for the Buffs.
