Arizona Coyotes vs. Nashville Predators odds, picks and best bets

NHL betting analysis around the Nashville Predators vs. Arizona Coyotes Friday matchup, with NHL odds, spreads and betting lines.

The Nashville Predators and Arizona Coyotes square off in Game 4 of their best-of-five Western Conference qualification round series Friday at Rogers Place in Edmonton. The puck is scheduled to drop at 2:30 p.m. ET. We analyze the Coyotes-Predators NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Series: Coyotes lead 2-1.

Coyotes vs. Predators: Projected starting goalies

Darcy Kuemper vs. Pekka Rinne

Kuemper stopped 39 of the 40 shots he faced in Game 3, and he has the Coyotes on the precipice of their first playoff series victory since 2012 when they were called the Phoenix Coyotes. That last series triumph came in the 2012 Western Conference semifinals against the Predators. Meanwhile, these Coyotes have a lot more work to do to get through to the next round, but they have to be gaining a lot of confidence behind Kuemper.

Juuse Saros allowed three goals on 27 shots in Game 3 as the Predators are trailing in this series for the second time and are now on the brink. Coach John Hynes is on record saying the team would need both Saros and Rinne to win this series. Perhaps with the Preds facing elimination, a change will be made. If Saros does start, his leash will be super short. Either way, it’s a tough spot for the six-seed to be in.

Prediction

Predators 3, Coyotes 2

Moneyline (ML)

The PREDATORS (-139) turned to Saros, their goaltender of the future, in Games 1 through 3, but they might need to turn back the clock and roll with their all-time franchise leader in playoff victories in Rinne. Hynes has been mum on his Game 4 starter, and very careful to tip his hand, but he’ll catch a lot of flak back in the Music City if he sticks with Saros and the Preds are excused against a Coyotes (+120) team they were heavily favored to oust. BET ON THE VERTERAN LEADERSHIP OF NASHVILLE.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Predators to win returns a profit of $7.19, while a $10 wager on the Coyotes would net a profit of $12.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Predators (-1.5, +200) have really struggled in this series, and even though this is a rather tempting price, you cannot back them with the way they have been playing against the Coyotes (+1.5, -250). Nashville has given bettors zero confidence that it will be able to push past a red-hot Kuemper. Betting the moneyline is fine for Nashville, but AVOID the puck line.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5 (+120) is the play. The Under hit in Game 3 with a 4-1 Coyotes victory, thanks in large part to the power outage for the Predators, but that O/U was 5.5. Expect the scripts to be flipped in Game 4, with the Coyotes failing to flick the goal switch and the Preds doing enough to win.

Arizona Coyotes vs. Nashville Predators odds, picks and best bets

NHL betting analysis around the Nashville Predators vs. Arizona Coyotes Wednesday matchup, with NHL odds, spreads and betting lines.

The Nashville Predators and Arizona Coyotes meet in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference qualifying round series, looking for the upper hand on Wednesday at Rogers Place in Edmonton. The puck is scheduled to drop at 2:30 p.m. ET. We analyze the Coyotes-Predators NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Series: Tied 1-1.

Coyotes vs. Predators: Projected starting goalies

Darcy Kuemper vs. Pekka Rinne

Kuemper helped the Coyotes to a slight upset in Game 1, stopping 40 of 43 shots in the 4-3 victory. He wasn’t as crisp in Tuesday’s Game 2, getting dinged for four goals on 28 shots in a 4-2 loss. While it’s a quick turnaround, the Coyotes will likely ride of die with Kuemper. The Coyotes posted on Twitter that Antti Raanta was unfit to play, so Adin Hill served as the backup in Game 2. In a pivotal Game 3, the Coyotes are unlikely to pin their hopes on Hill despite a lack of rest for their starter.

Juuse Saros coughed up four goals on 37 shots in Game 1, but the Predators stuck with him and he paid off with a 24-save victory in Game 2. During practice, Rinne and Saros pushed each other for the starting job, and it sounded like a tight battle. Expect Rinne to start in Game 3, giving Saros a chance to recharge his battery in the back-to-back situation.

Prediction

Predators 4, Coyotes 2

Moneyline (ML)

The PREDATORS (-129) were stunned in Game 1. It will be the last game they lose in this series, as the Coyotes (+110) aren’t ready for prime time just yet. The back-to-back situation might favor the younger Arizona legs, but the experience of Nashville in the playoffs will help it through the adversity with a quick turnaround.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Predators to win returns a profit of $7.75, while a $10 wager on the Coyotes would net a profit of $11.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The PREDATORS -1.5 (+220) are a fabulous value in this one. While they’re just 4-9 in their past 13 when playing on no rest, the Coyotes are even worse at 15-40 in their past 55 in the second end of a back-to-back. Arizona surprised in Game 1, but this is the game where Nashville takes charge of this series. Look for the Preds to cover the puck line here, and you can double up and then some.

Over/Under (O/U)

There were two high-scoring games in this series, with seven total goals in Game 1, and six in Game 2. Expect another higher scoring affair in Game 3. The Over has cashed in four of the previous five meetings in this series, and OVER 5.5 (+125) is the play in Game 3, too, and at a nice value.

Arizona Coyotes vs. Nashville Predators odds, picks and best bets

NHL betting analysis around the Arizona Coyotes vs. Nashville Predators Sunday matchup, with NHL odds, spreads and betting lines to exploit.

The Nashville Predators play Game 1 of their qualification round series against the Arizona Coyotes Sunday at Rogers Place in Edmonton, AB. The puck will drop at 2 p.m. ET as the first of five NHL games on the day. We analyze the Coyotes-Predators NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Coyotes vs. Predators: Projected starting goalies

Darcy Kuemper vs. Pekka Rinne

The 30-year-old Kuemper enjoyed a breakout 2019-20 season, his third with the Coyotes. He went 16-11-2 across 29 starts with a .928 save percentage and 2.22 goals against average.

Rinne wasn’t his usual self this season with a poor .895 SV% and 3.17 GAA across 35 starts and one relief appearance. He’ll make his 90th career postseason start and enters with a career .914 SV% and 2.49 GAA in the playoffs.

Prediction

Predators 4, Coyotes 2

Moneyline (ML)

PREDATORS (-129) is the play to make on the moneyline for the outright victory. They finished sixth in the Western Conference in the regular season by point percentage and will serve as the hosts to the 11th-seeded Coyotes (+110).

Nashville became a much more well-rounded hockey team after head coach John Hynes replaced Peter Laviolette in early January. The Preds went 16-11-1 from Jan. 7 through the end of the regular season. Before Hynes took over, they beat the ‘Yotes 3-2 in late December after dropping the season’s first head-to-head meeting 5-2 in the desert in October.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Predators to win returns a profit of $7.75.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Take the added value, and the safety of a push, by backing the PREDATORS -1 (+135) in hopes of a multi-goal victory. Kuemper will be making his first postseason start since 2013-14 with the Minnesota Wild.

Nashville ranked 10th in the NHL by 5-on-5 Corsi For Percentage (rate of all shot attempts) from Jan. 7 through the end of the regular season. Arizona was just 24th in the league in that span.

Over/Under (O/U)

Following suit of out puck line play, take the OVER 5.5 (+110) as the more profitable side of the line. The two regular-season meetings between these teams played to either side of Sunday’s line.

The Predators struggled to live up to expectations this offseason, but they’re back to full health and will have RW Viktor Arvidsson back on the top line alongside Filip Forsberg and Ryan Johansen. The Coyotes lack the depth of the Preds both up front and on the backend.
