Cowboys Wire Podcast: Previewing the coordinators’ plan, best CB discussion

Defending the Jalen Hurts experience. How bad the Dallas defense’s competition been. How you should bet. Get it all here from @KDDrummondNFL and @Ryan_OLeary.

Less than 24 hours remain before the Dallas Cowboys (4-1) take on the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles (5-0) for supremacy in the NFC East. Every week K.D. Drummond and Ryan O’Leary meet up to discuss the latest on the Cowboys but this one has a special feel. Other than having to correct O’Leary that it’s not Philly Week for Dallas, but rather Dallas Week for Philly, the two go in on several hot topics of the week.

From the 6.5-point underdog status, to ranking the best CBs in the game there’s plenty to discuss in addition to Dak Prescott’s return to practice, including the debate about how much Cooper Rush is contributing to the winning streak. The highlight? The giddiness over Dan Quinn getting his shot to combat the Jalen Hurts Experience. Tune in!

Cowboys Wire Podcast: Should Cowboys be as confident in Washington rematch as Giants game?

A look back at how the Week 15 action set up a favorable path for Dallas to get to home-field advantage, if they handle their business. | From @KDDrummondNFL

The Dallas Cowboys are once again double-digit favorites over an NFC East opponent. After suggesting a five-unit bet for Dallas to cover in Week 15 against the New York Giants, is K.D. Drummond as confident for the matchup against the Washington Football Team?

Much of the NFC worked in conjunction with moving up the seeding ladder ahead of the playoffs, and now Dallas is in a position where just a little more help along with their own positive play can get them home-field advantage. Which of the top clubs, if any, should the Cowboys fear? Drummond and Ryan O’Leary take to the airwaves to dissect the Week 16 action as the march towards the playoffs continue.

Cowboys Wire Podcast: Honestly, Cowboys should beat enigmatic Vikings comfortably. Should.

Will the cap make the Cowboys’ championship aspirations one and done? Is Collins being benched as trade bait? Should the Vikings-game line be as small as it is? @ryano_leary and @KDDrummondNFL talk it all over.

The Dallas Cowboys are coming out of their bye week and have the Minnesota Vikings next on the horizon. They are 2.5-point favorites, although Dak Prescott is currently limited in practice with a calf injury. With the way the Vikings have performed, Dallas should be able to earn their sixth victory in a row despite the fact that Minnesota has the elements on offense that could present the Cowboys’ defense problems.

Is there a limited window for the Cowboys? Is this year at the end of a championship contender window because of their salary cap situation or is it the end?

Also, a discussion about the La’el Collins return and all the weirdness happening surrounding his return and whether his being on the bench is a sign that there could be some trade activity on the horizon. Ryan O’Leary and K.D. Drummond chop it up about the very fun, very interesting 2021 Cowboys.

Cowboys Wire Podcast: Cowboys’ insane offensive efficiency is rendering foes defenseless

Recorded before the Jaylon Smith release, the original big topic of the week was how high the offense can climb and whether or not they have a killer instinct. @RyanO_Leary and Cowboys Wire Managing Editor @KDDrummondNFL discuss.

The guys discuss the Cowboys’ win over Carolina and why this offense under Kellen Moore is near impossible for teams to stop. Also, does Dallas need a lesson in putting teams away in the fourth quarter?

They also look ahead to Cowboys-Giants this week with predictions against the spread and total. Note: This week’s episode was recorded before the Cowboys released LB Jaylon Smith. Hosted by Ryan O’Leary (@RyanO_Leary) with Cowboys Wire Managing Editor KD Drummond (@KDDrummondNFL).

Cowboys Wire Podcast: Reviewing the trim to 53, waiting to trade for Gilmore?

Who is the No. 1 Fantasy TE on the Cowboys? Should you buy them as 7.5 pt dogs against TB? What’s the deal with backup QBs and should the team keep an eye on the Gilmore situation? From @KDDrummondNFL, @RyanO_Leary

The Dallas Cowboys were able to use the new rules regarding Covid to reduce the number of roster casualties to make their way down to a 53-man roster. There seems to be a hole after Trevon Diggs at the cornerback position with the rookies not making the jump over the preseason games to demand starting positions. Could the club look to add a veteran corner? May it not happen until the trade deadline?

Backup quarterback talk (from before signing Will Grier) and talk about leadership and vaccinations as the pandemic continues to shape the NFL landscape. What about fantasy relevance, who will be TE1 for Dallas, Blake Jarwin or Dalton Schultz? Early lines on the season opener has the Buccaneers over 7-point favorites, should you shove? All this and more on the latest episode of the Cowboys Wire Podcast.

With the NFL getting their gambling on, it’s only right that the attention of the offseason includes a look at capitalizing on the odds. They are everywhere for who the 2021 MVP may be and also who the Dallas Cowboys might end up selecting with the No. 10 pick in the NFL draft later this month.

Should Dak Prescott actually be higher up the list of potential hardware winners?  Meanwhile, who are the candidates for the No. 10 pick? When does Dallas need to pull the trigger on certain positions? How should they look to bail on the spot if the offers get too good. I’m joined by Ryan O’Leary to discuss this and all of the latest news circulating around this big, dumb team of ours.

Cowboys Wire Podcast: Why LB should be outlawed for No. 10, how covering football mutes fandom

With the New York Jets shipping Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers, another huge shakeup in the makeup of the draft’s first round has come to pass. How does this impact the Cowboys at No. 10? What’s the legend of Sam Darnold in the eyes of Dallas …

With the New York Jets shipping Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers, another huge shakeup in the makeup of the draft’s first round has come to pass. How does this impact the Cowboys at No. 10? What’s the legend of Sam Darnold in the eyes of Dallas and their fans?

Hosts Ryan O’Leary and K.D. Drummond discuss how the quarterbacks may fall and impact what’s available for the Cowboys. The big discussion? Why KD thinks it’s absolutely egregious for Dallas to consider taking Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons at No. 10. Runnning backs don’t matter? Linebackers really don’t matter.

In addition, we talk about grading the Cowboys’ moves in free agency and how they’ve managed the risk factor of being shoppers on the open market while their competitors are taking different approaches. Are they really committed to solving the safety position or are fans just starved of any action at all at the position? Tune in for the latest episode and don’t forget to hit the subscribe button.
