In Angel Reese’s return to her hometown of Baltimore, she was the star of the show.
Reese scored a game-high 26 points as she led the Tigers to an 80-48 win against Coppin State in what was only the team’s second true road game of the year. LSU moves to 12-1 on the year with the win and has now won 12 games in a row since its season-opening loss.
After jumping out to a 40-26 lead at halftime, the Tigers put the game out of reach after outscoring the Eagles 24-7 in the third quarter. It was a big game offensively for LSU, which shot 47.8% from the field.
In addition to Reese’s big game, [autotag]Flau’Jae Johnson[/autotag] scored 18 points, while [autotag]Aneesah Morrow[/autotag] turned in a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double. Thanks in large part to Morrow’s contributions, LSU more than doubled up Coppin State on the boards and won the rebounding battle 45-21.
The Tigers also forced 17 turnovers in the win, 14 of which were steals.
LSU will now have a 10-day break before returning to the court on Dec. 30 for its final non-conference game against Jacksonville. After that, it will begin SEC play at home against Missouri on Jan. 4.
