Alabama’s path to 2024 SEC Conference Tournament Championship

Alabama doesn’t play until Friday, but check out the path the Crimson Tide will have to take to win the SEC Tournament in Nashville.

Alabama basketball’s 2023-2024 regular season came to a close with an impressive comeback win over Arkansas. Now, the Tide must wait until Friday to get started in the SEC Conference Tournament in Nashville.

The path Nate Oats and his third-seeded team will take isn’t easy, but it’s not necessarily the most difficult.

On Wednesday, March 13, No. 14 Missouri will take on No. 11 Georgia. The winner of that game will move on to face No. 6 Florida on Thursday. That contest’s winner advances to take on the Crimson Tide on Friday in the quarterfinals.

Should Alabama win, the semifinal matchup would be against one of: No. 10 Ole Miss, No. 7 Texas A&M, or No. 2 Kentucky.

Technically, Alabama is only three games away from winning the conference tournament.

Late-season struggles plagued the Tide in conference play, suffering some ugly losses to a few quality teams. Injuries are something to monitor, especially guard Rylan Griffen, who missed the regular season finale.

Juwan Howard got ejected after heated exchange with Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon

Juwan Howard was not happy about something.

The Big Ten tournament is getting spicy.

Maryland and Michigan were playing in a quarterfinals game for the tournament that didn’t really seem like it was ever much of a contest.

Michigan won the game 79-66 and pretty much dominated the whole way through, giving them their third win against the Terps this season. But that wasn’t what the biggest story of the game was.

Instead, what stole headlines was Michigan head coach Juwan Howard getting ejected in the middle of the second half during a timeout after what seemed to be a heated exchange against Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon.

It’s unclear what the exchange was over, but it starts off with Howard yelling something at Maryland’s bench during the timeout. And then a crowd began to form before officials broke things up.

That was not a good look. It ended with two technical fouls and an ejection for Howard and on tech for Turgeon.

We don’t really know the details of what happened here, so there’s not too much to say. But, certainly, Howard will speak on this at some point. And when he does we’re sure to hear exactly why this all went down the way it did.
