BREAKING: Wisconsin beats USC for commitment from top FCS transfer wide receiver

Wisconsin lands a commitment from a promising transfer receiver

Wisconsin landed a commitment from Idaho transfer wide receiver Mark Hamper on Friday.

The top Football Championship Subdivision transfer chose the Badgers over top programs including Big Ten rival USC. He is the program’s 13th transfer commitment of the cycle and the second wide receiver, joining Ohio State transfer Jayden Ballard.

Hamper commits to the Badgers after a breakout redshirt freshman season at Idaho. He totaled 48 receptions, 966 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns during the campaign — including three catches for 57 yards in the Vandals’ narrow Week 1 loss to Oregon. He joins the program with three years of eligibility remaining.

The 6’2″ wide receiver shouldn’t have much trouble seeing the field with the Badgers. The team has snaps available at the position after the recent transfer departures of starters Will Pauling and C.J. Williams. Both he and Ballard should lead the boundary receiver position across from returning starter Vinny Anthony.

Wisconsin continues to utilize the transfer portal to bolster its offensive personnel entering a pivotal 2025 campaign. Additions at quarterback, tight end and wide receiver will aid new coordinator Jeff Grimes as he returns the program to its classic pro-style approach, departing from Phil Longo’s air raid scheme.

The Badgers’ new-look offensive depth chart appears well-equipped to make that transition.

Luke Fickell and his staff will likely direct primary focus to the defensive side of the football with major remaining needs at cornerback and linebacker. For more on those pursuits, bookmark our transfer offer, visit and commitment tracker.

Former Oklahoma wide receiver commits to Duke from transfer portal

Former Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Andrel Anthony Jr. announced his commitment to the Duke Blue Devils on Thursday.

The Duke Blue Devils made their third splash in the transfer portal on Thursday night when former Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Andrel Anthony Jr. announced his commitment to the program.

On3’s Hayes Fawcett first reported the decision.

Anthony, a former three-star prospect from the Class of 2021, started his collegiate career with the Michigan Wolverines. The 6-foot-1 wideout picked up 248 yards and three scores on 12 receptions as a freshman, but he transferred to Norman after a quiet 2022 season.

Anthony again impressed in his first season with a new school, catching 27 passes for 429 yards in just six games, but his season came to an unfortunate end when he suffered a knee injury against the Texas Longhorns. He ended this past season with a single reception as he struggled to get back on the field.

The new Duke wideout will help fill a big opening in Durham. Senior stars Jordan Moore and Eli Pancol both finished with more than 700 yards in 2024, combining for 16 touchdowns, but they both played their final regular-season game for the Blue Devils last month.

Head coach Manny Diaz already secured commitments from Tulane quarterback Darian Mensah and All-Ivy defensive lineman Josiah Green from Dartmouth earlier this month.

5-star WR Dallas Wilson asks out of NLI with Oregon, plans to sign with Florida

The Dallas Wilson recruiting saga took another turn this week, and it looks like the five-star receiver will end up with Florida instead of Oregon.

Things didn’t come together on early signing day between five-star receiver [autotag]Dallas Wilson[/autotag] and the Florida Gators, but the Oregon commit is looking for a release from his financial aid agreement to sign with the Orange and Blue after all.

Wilson’s management group told On3 that the Tampa Bay Tech prospect asked to be released from his financial affidavit on Tuesday, giving Oregon until Thursday to decide. Once the Ducks comply with Wilson’s request, he’ll be free to sign wherever he pleases, and that’s with Florida.

Should all those dominoes fall into place, Wilson will be on campus in Gainesville early alongside DJ Lagway, Eugene Wilson III and Vernell Brown III to lead Florida’s passing game in 2025. Florida also returns several other receivers but has question marks behind Eugene Wilson with Elijhah Badger and Chimere Dike out of eligibility.

Dallas Wilson provides a classic deep-threat, big-bodied receiver that Florida has been looking for since Joshua Moore flipped his commitment to Miami earlier in the cycle. It also tames any worries from fans after Florida remained quiet through the first few weeks of the winter transfer period.

The recruiting saga is reminiscent of what happened with Jaden Rashada, who ultimately backed out of his national letter of intent with Florida well after the early signing period. Of course, it’s much nicer to be on the other end of that kind of decision.

Recruiting Summary

Wilson is a five-star recruit, according to both major composite rankings from 247Sports and On3. The 247Sports composite has him at No. 20 overall and No. 4 among receivers in the class of 2025, while the On3 industry ranking ranks him slightly higher at Nos. 19 and 2, respectively.

“Self-assertive wide receiver with the size, hands and speed to emerge as a true impact player for a College Football Playoff contender,” 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote in an August report. “Launches out of his stance and attacks cushion with conviction before breaking off defensive backs with snappy cuts. Firm 10-inch hands and a 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame give him the advantage more times than not at the catch point and has put a few acrobatic grabs on the highlight reel over the years. …

“Overall, should be viewed as one of the top pass catchers in the 2025 cycle given his big-play capabilities and rare physical features. Must buy into the process at the college of his choice and continue to keep evolving as a player, but has NFL potential.”

Adding Wilson moves Florida into the top 10 of 247Sports’ team recruiting rankings, passing Tennessee by a few points. Both teams could add more players on the February signing date, but Florida has a good chance of finishing in the top 10 with Wilson in the fold.

Wisconsin football transfer safety commits to Wyoming

Another Wisconsin transfer announces his commitment

Wisconsin redshirt freshman safety Justin Taylor announced his transfer commitment to Wyoming on Wednesday.

Taylor entered the portal earlier this month after two years with the Badgers. He joins the Cowboys with three years of eligibility remaining.

Related: Wisconsin football 2024 transfer portal departure tracker

Taylor initially joined Wisconsin as a three-star recruit in the class of 2023, ranked as the No. 936 player in the class, No. 73 athlete and No. 18 recruit from his home state of Illinois. He committed to the program on May 14, 2022, back when Paul Chryst was still the head coach and Jim Leonhard ran the defense. He stuck with that commitment through the program’s coaching turnover and subsequent hire of Luke Fickell.

The safety is one of numerous members of Wisconsin’s class of 2023 to depart, either this offseason or last. Only four of the program’s 15 signees from the abbreviated cycle remain with the program.

Taylor commits to a Wyoming program that went 3-9 in 2024 under first-year head coach Jay Sawvel. The program previously made six bowl games in the eight preceding seasons. It is typically a model of consistency in the Mountain West.

Wisconsin already addressed its need at safety in the transfer portal, adding Richmond breakout freshman Matthew Traynor. The program is in search of a new starter next to senior Preston Zachman, who recently announced his return for the 2025 season. The Badgers also need depth at the position with Taylor and other underclassmen in the portal.

Duke football lands former Dartmouth defensive lineman from the transfer portal

With the college football transfer portal in full swing, the Duke Blue Devils landed another player from the Ivy League.

The college football transfer portal has been open for multiple weeks now, and Duke coach [autotag]Manny Diaz[/autotag] and his staff remain in pursuit of some 2025 talent. On Wednesday, the Blue Devils continued their recent Ivy League pipeline with a commitment from a defensive lineman.

Josiah Green, a former Dartmouth starter, announced his commitment to the Duke program on Wednesday afternoon.

“Thank you for everything (Dartmouth),” Green wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Time for the Next Chapter!”

A grad transfer with 30 games of experience, Green will play out his final season of eligibility next fall. The 6-foot-1, 280-pound lineman was one of five unanimous members of the First Team All-Ivy squad after he accumulated 49 tackles, 9.0 TFLs, and three sacks.

Green won’t be the first Ivy Leaguer to join Duke through the transfer portal. Just this past season, former Princeton linebacker Ozzie Nicholas led the Blue Devils with 89 total tackles. The program also brought in Harvard grads Scott Elliott and Anthony Nelson ahead of the 2023 season, and both of them started six games that year.

BREAKING: Wisconsin lands commitment from top transfer quarterback

Massive news for Luke Fickell and the Badgers

Wisconsin has its 2025 starting quarterback.

The Badgers made significant headlines on Monday evening when they landed a transfer commitment from former Maryland starting quarterback Billy Edwards Jr.

Related: Tracking Wisconsin football’s transfer portal offers, interests and commitments

Edwards Jr. is Wisconsin’s fourth transfer commitment of the day, joining UT-Martin defensive lineman Charles Perkins, Western Michigan defensive lineman Corey Walker and San Diego State quarterback Danny O’Neil. They join Louisville edge rusher Mason Reiger, Ball State tight end Tanner Koziol and Tulane defensive lineman Parker Petersen.

The veteran quarterback and former Big Ten starter transfers to the program with one year of eligibility remaining. He started 11 games for Maryland in 2024, completing 65% of his passes for 2,881 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions. His 420 pass attempts were the most in the Big Ten, largely due to Maryland often facing significant deficits and being unable to run the ball effectively.

Edwards Jr.’s numbers come with that asterisk. He was the lone bright spot on a 4-8 Maryland team. The numbers came despite the weak supporting cast, especially up front.

He becomes Wisconsin’s clear 2025 starting quarterback upon committing. He was one of the Badgers’ best transfer options available and chose them over top contenders Michigan and Virginia.

Wisconsin also landed San Diego State transfer Danny O’Neil on Monday. O’Neil joins with three years of eligibility remaining and profiles as a strong backup option entering the 2025 season.

Edwards Jr.’s commitment caps an impressive recruiting burst for Luke Fickell and his coaching staff, especially new offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes. The Badgers have addressed several key areas of need and came away with one of the better transfer quarterbacks available.

All-American center Jake Slaughter returning to Florida for senior year

Despite much speculation, it was an easy decision for All-American center Jake Slaughter to return to Florida in 2025 for his senior year.

Once early signing day was over, Florida football head coach Billy Napier said the focus of the program would shift to retaining players on its current roster. On Monday night, Napier landed a return commitment from the biggest target on that list, All-America center [autotag]Jake Slaughter[/autotag].

On the same day the Associated Press named Slaughter a First Team All-American, he decided to put off his pro career to finish what he started in Gainesville. Slaughter’s coming back for the 2025 season. Nick de la Torre of Florida Victorious confirmed that news.

“The draft is always there but my thought was always that there’s so much more we have to do here before I’m done,” Slaughter said. “There’s so much improvement that can be made, not just in my own game but as a football team. That was a big reason. There’s so much left on the table for us.”

The 2024 Gators didn’t take steps forward throughout the season; they took leaps and bounds after a disheartening first month of the year. By the end of the season, the Gators believed they could compete with any team in the country — even with a battered defense.

The emergence of DJ Lagway as an elite starting quarterback had a lot to do with it, but the team improved in other areas, too. The most consistent piece of the team was the offensive line, anchored by Slaughter, who morphed into one of the best centers in the country. Draft experts have him pegged as a mid-round pick, but that’s before workouts and the combine.

For Slaughter, it’s not so much about improving his draft stock but rather bringing the program back to prominence. He’s been in Gainesville for the worst of it and wants to see things through to the end; and he might not be the only one with that mindset.

“We were playing complementary football, winning games, going toe-to-toe with anybody in the country. That was a big part,” he said. “The belief that this team has. All the other guys that are in a similar position as me and are coming back next year. We want to do something pretty special.”

BREAKING: Wisconsin lands commitment from top FCS transfer defensive lineman

Wisconsin lands another transfer commitment

Wisconsin landed a commitment from UT-Martin transfer defensive lineman Charles Perkins on Monday.

Perkins is the Badgers’ third transfer addition on the defensive line and sixth transfer commitment overall. He is also the program’s third commitment of the day, joining Western Michigan defensive lineman Corey Walker and San Diego State quarterback Danny O’Neil.

Related: Tracking Wisconsin football’s transfer portal offers, interests and commitments

Perkins joins the Badgers after three seasons at UT-Martin. The 6’3,” 300-pound lineman was a Football Championship Subdivision Freshman All-American in 2023 after totaling 24 total tackles, four tackles for loss and four sacks. He took a further step forward in 2024 as a redshirt sophomore, tallying 40 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

He transfers to Wisconsin with two years of eligibility remaining.

Wisconsin’s new-look defensive tackle room now includes three impact transfers — Perkins, Walker and Parker Petersen. They join a returning group of veterans Ben Barten and Brandon Lane, and underclassmen Jamel Howard and Dillan Johnson.

The position was among the team’s biggest roster needs entering the transfer cycle with most of its 2024 production gone to the portal or graduation. That need appears to be fully addressed.

BREAKING: Wisconsin lands commitment from accomplished transfer defensive lineman

Wisconsin picks up another significant transfer addition on defense.

Wisconsin landed a commitment from Western Michigan transfer defensive lineman Corey Walker on Monday.

Walker is the Badgers’ fourth portal addition of the last week, joining Louisville edge rusher Mason Reiger, Ball State tight end Tanner Koziol and Tulane defensive lineman Parker Petersen. With Petersen, he fills an important position of need on the Badgers’ 2025 roster.

Related: Tracking Wisconsin football’s transfer portal offers, interests and commitments

Walker entered the portal after four years at Western Michigan, two as a starter. His impressive 2023 and 2024 campaigns include 23 starts, 70 tackles (39 solo), 15 tackles for loss, eight sacks, nine pass deflections and one forced fumble.

Those are significant numbers from an interior defensive line position. His 2024 production of seven tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks would have led Wisconsin’s defense in each category. It has been well-documented how badly the Badgers’ 2024 unit struggled getting to the quarterback (No. 121 in the nation with 1.3 sacks per game). Walker’s addition is a big step toward fixing that reality in 2025.

He commits to the program with one year of eligibility remaining.

Walker and Petersen project to lead a Wisconsin defense line room that lost most of its production from the 2024 season. Veterans Ben Barten and Brandon Lane, plus underclassmen Jamel Howard and Dillan Johnson figure to play into that 2025 rotation.

Defensive line was arguably the program’s biggest portal need entering the offseason — next to a starting quarterback. Luke Fickell and his staff have done well in addressing it, highlighted by the addition of Walker.

Former Wisconsin quarterback announces transfer portal destination

Former Wisconsin quarterback announces transfer portal destination

Former Wisconsin quarterback Myles Burkett announced his transfer commitment to Eastern Kentucky on Sunday.

Burkett entered the portal earlier this month after one year at Albany. He commits to Eastern Kentucky, which made the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs this season, with two years of eligibility remaining.

Related: Tracking Wisconsin football’s transfer portal offers, interests and commitments

Burkett joined the Badgers as a three-star recruit and the No. 8 player from the state of Wisconsin in the class of 2022. He appeared in just two games during his time with the program, both as a true freshman.

The Franklin, Wisconsin, native elected to remain with the program entering 2023 after the firing of Paul Chryst and the subsequent hire of Luke Fickell. He entered the season far down the quarterback depth chart, however, after offseason additions of Tanner Mordecai, Nick Evers and Braedyn Locke.

Burkett transferred to Albany after the 2023 campaign. He started nine games for the Great Danes in 2024, completing 54.7% of his passes for 1,840 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

He has found a destination for his remaining years of eligibility.

Wisconsin’s quarterback room remains in question after the hire of new offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes and the departures of Tyler Van Dyke and Braedyn Locke. The Badgers have only redshirt freshman Mabrey Mettauer, true freshman Landyn Locke (three-star) and true freshman Carter Smith (four-star) in the room. That reality is sure to change as this transfer cycle continues.
