Notre Dame basketball misses out on small forward target who reclassifies

The Irish weren’t chosen

Although Notre Dame basketball was a finalist for North Carolina small forward [autotag]Colt Langdon[/autotag], it really didn’t seem like they were a real contender.

That turned out to be the case as the 6-foot, 7-inch and 205-pounder committed to Butler. Originally he was in the 2025 class, but Langdon opted to reclassify to the 2024 class and will play for the Bulldogs this coming season.

This is obviously a loss for the Irish, especially considering that he will start his collegiate career earlier than expected. Notre Dame is still working on finding its first 2025 commitment, but they are still in the mix with multiple solid prospects.

Notre Dame basketball small forward target will commit this Wednesday

The Irish could finally land its first 2025 commitment

The search for Notre Dame basketball’s first 2025 recruit continues, and on Wednesday it will find out if that will change.

North Carolina forward [autotag]Colt Langdon[/autotag] has narrowed down his list to three schools and will make his choice this Wednesday, July 10th according to On3’s Joe Tipton. LSU, Butler and the Irish will each have a hat on the table for the nation’s No. 135 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The Irish offered the 6-foot, 7-inch 205-pound Langdon in October, with Butler being his first offer of his finalists. The Tigers came to the plate late, as they pulled the trigger on a scholarship in March.

Right now, Langdon has one 247Sports Crystal Ball pick in for the Bulldogs, and it was made today. The Irish could still get a commitment from him, but it might be an uphill battle over the next few days.

Top 150 LSU basketball target set to announce commitment Wednesday

The Tigers could pick up their first commitment in the 2025 cycle on Wednesday evening.

LSU men’s basketball coach [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag] is still searching for his first commitment in the 2025 recruiting cycle, but that could be set to change on Wednesday.

Four-star power forward [autotag]Colt Langdon[/autotag] will announce his decision live on the On3 Recruits YouTube channel at 6 p.m. CT. The 6-foot-7 Millbrook (Raleigh, N.C.) prospect has narrowed his list of finalists down to LSU, Notre Dame and Butler.

Langdon ranks No. 123 nationally according to the On3 Industry Rankings and sits just outside the top 100 in On3’s own rankings. He recently discussed the Tigers with On3’s Joe Tipton.

“Coach (Ronnie) Hamilton talks with me almost every day,” he said. “I talk some with Coach (Casey) Long too. The head coach (Matt) McMahon calls me now almost every week. So they’re really consistent with their contact from the whole staff. I’m looking forward to taking another unofficial down there really soon.”

[autotag]Ronnie Hamilton[/autotag] has since left to be an assistant at Louisville.

Butler currently holds a crystal ball to land Langdon that was placed by 247Sports on Monday, but the Tigers are a slim favorite to land him according to the On3 recruiting prediction machine.
