REPORT: Colorado targeting Houston’s Brian Early for vacant D-line coaching job

Colorado is reportedly targeting Houston’s Brian Early

It didn’t take long for Colorado head coach Deion Sanders to get to work replacing defensive tackles coach Patrick Hill, who left the Buffs on Monday for an assistant D-line coaching position with the Minnesota Vikings.

Just two days later, Bruce Feldman of The Athletic reported that CU is targeting Houston D-line coach Brian Early. Early has been with the Cougars since 2019 and as Feldman tweeted, Houston’s defense has been among the American Athletic Conference’s best in producing sacks and TFLs the past two seasons.

Hopefully, the Buffs are able to make something final soon as spring football practices are set to begin March 19.

Most likely, Early would coach the defensive tackles with Nick Williams staying with the defensive ends.

REPORT: Minnesota Vikings expected to hire Colorado assistant Patrick Hill

REPORT: The Minnesota Vikings are expected to snag Patrick Hill from the #cubuffs

All of a sudden, Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders has a spot to fill on his coaching staff.

Exactly one month after Patrick Hill was announced as the Buffaloes’ defensive tackles coach, it was reported by On3’s Matt Zenitz on Monday that the Minnesota Vikings are expected to hire Hill as an assistant defensive line coach. Hill was previously a defensive analyst at LSU for the 2022 season.

Although he was only in Boulder for a short period, Hill made an impression on a few Colorado recruits, including four-star LB Kolaj Cobbins and 2024 blue-chip DL Brandon Davis-Swain.

Coach Prime now has less than three weeks to hire a new defensive tackles coach before the Buffaloes begin spring football in mid-March.

Ranking Colorado football assistant coach salaries for 2021

Here’s how much Colorado’s assistant coaches made in 2021

Last week, we ranked the Pac-12 head coaches’ salaries. Now, we are taking an introspective look at how much each Colorado assistant coach made in 2021.

Being an assistant coach is also a notoriously unstable job. In the past few months alone, Colorado fired two of its assistant coaches — both of whom are listed below.

Here’s how much Colorado’s assistant coaches made in 2021.
