Here’s a look at where each SEC quarterback ranks heading into another week of college football.
It’s been a rocky week for SEC football, and many of the conference’s quarterbacks won’t see action with all of the postponements of games that were originally scheduled for Saturday.
This weekend will be a rather empty one, with only the following matchups remaining:
Vanderbilt at Kentucky: 12 p.m., SEC Network
Arkansas at Florida: 7 p.m., ESPN
South Carolina at Ole Miss: 7:30 p.m., SEC Network
Here’s a look at where each SEC quarterback ranks heading into another week of college football.
Hill has been less than impressive this season, and Saturday’s performance against LSU hasn’t changed that.
Heading into Saturday’s matchup between the LSU Tigers and the South Carolina Gamecocks, we knew graduate transfer Collin Hill would be taking the field for the visiting team, while true freshman passer TJ Finley took snaps for the home squad.
What we didn’t know was just how much the less experienced signal-caller would outshine a more veteran presence.
It shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise, though, considering how highly-touted of a recruit Finley was and how Hill’s passing yardage had steadily declined by the game throughout the season.
Hill’s performance hasn’t been anything worth writing home about roughly midway through the fourth quarter, as he’s 10-of-18 passing for 220 yards without a touchdown pass and with one interception.

VFL Terry Fair previews Collin Hill starting against Tennessee.
KNOXVILLE — Tennessee is set to take on South Carolina Saturday for its season opening game of the 2020 season.
Will Muschamp named Collin Hill as the Gamecocks’ starting quarterback for the matchup. Hill is a graduate transfer from Colorado State. He reunites with Mike Bobo who was hired as South Carolina’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach during the offseason. Bobo served as Colorado State’s head coach from 2015-19.
Former Tennessee defensive back and assistant coach Terry Fair was part of Colorado State’s program alongside Bobo and Hill. Fair served as the Rams’ defensive backs coach from 2015-17 and in the same capacity at Tennessee during the 2018 season under Jeremy Pruitt.
Fair joined the show “Tennessee Two-A-Days” to discuss Hill playing the Vols in Week 1. The show can be listened to here or below.

South Carolina-Tennessee Week 1: Gamecocks name starting quarterback
COLUMBIA — Tennessee will kick off the 2020 season in nine days at South Carolina.
South Carolina announced Thursday that its starting quarterback will be graduate transfer Collin Hill.
Hill transferred to South Carolina from Colorado State, reuniting with Mike Bobo. Bobo was hired in the offseason as South Carolina’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach after serving as Colorado State’s head coach from 2015-19.
“Collin Hill will start the game against Tennessee,” South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp said. “I thought both guys had outstanding training camps. We can win with both guys, bottom line. Ryan’s had a really good camp. Obviously, there was an advantage for Collin playing for Coach (Mike) Bobo before. Schematically there are some things that helped him. But we can win with both guys. We’ve got confidence in both guys and, as I told them and our entire football team, we’re going into the unknown. We’ve got to have all hands on deck ready to play. Luke Doty has gotten more reps at the quarterback position, because what if we do lose Collin and Ryan to a COVID situation? We’ve got to have a bunch of guys ready to play in the game, but Collin will start for us.
“It was a very difficult decision,” continued the head coach. “You look at our three scrimmages, which are the three benchmarks really in the evaluation. Ryan was the player of the day in the first one; Collin was in the second. Both of them played extremely well in the third. It was very difficult, a hard decision, but that’s the decision that we made. As I’ve said before, we can win with both guys. We have great confidence in both guys and both guys know that.”
