The first real night of college football is upon us

The first real night of college football is upon us.

Thursday marks the true opening night of college football for many, with a slate of more than 20 FBS games on the docket. A trio of Big Ten teams will take the field for the first time, with Rutgers hosting Howard, Illinois hosting Eastern Illinois and Minnesota hosting North Carolina.

Michigan State will open up the season on Friday in a home game against Florida Atlantic. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
