Former Husker named to College Baseball Hall of Fame

A former Nebraska baseball player has been inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2023.

A former Nebraska baseball player has been inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame’s Class of 2023. Alex Gordon is one of 12 individuals who will be inducted on February 15, 2024, in Overland Park, Kansas.

Gordon played for Nebraska from 2003-2005. In 193 career games, Gordon was a .353/.483/.657 hitter. He would also hit 44 home runs and drive in 189 RBI. Gordon was also a first-team All-American in 2004 and 2005 and was the consensus national player of the year.

In 2005, he helped lead the Huskers to a school-record 57 victories. The third baseman was the No. 2 overall pick by the Kansas City Royals in the 2005 MLB draft. The three-time All-Star would spend all 14 seasons with the Royals and would help the team win the 2015 World Series.

Legendary Michigan State baseball coach Danny Litwhiler will be elected as a member of the College Baseball Hall of Fame’s 2021 class.

A member of the Michigan State baseball family has been elected to the College Baseball Hall of Fame. Former head coach Danny Litwhiler will be a member of the Hall of Fame’s 2021 class.

Litwhiler led the Spartans baseball program from 1964 until 1982, compiling a record of 489–362–8. Litwhiler also led the Spartans to the NCAA tournament three times along with two Big Ten championships.

Among the top players who played for Coach Litwhiler are Steve Garvey, Kirk Gibson and Rick Miller.

Litwhiler will be Michigan State’s first representative in the College Baseball Hall of Fame.
