The UL Monroe Warhawks (2-1, 1-0 Sun Belt) and No. 16 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (4-0, 0-0) meet Saturday at Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET. The Warhawks upset Troy 29-16 last Saturday as 23.5-point home underdogs. For the second straight week, defense was the difference, as ULM allowed 11.5 points per game (PPG) while hitting the Under in each outing.

The Chanticleers spanked UMass 53-3 last weekend to cover as 36-point favorites. They’re 3-0 straight up and 3-0 ATS in three outings at home. The Chants have scored 49 or more points in each of the games in The Grand Strand.

UL Monroe at Coastal Carolina odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Coastal Carolina 52, UL Monroe 17

Money line

Coastal Carolina (-10000) will cost you $100 for every $1 earned. That’s a ridiculous amount of risk for very little return.

AVOID and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

COASTAL CAROLINA -33.5 (-112) is worth playing at home. The Chanticleers averaged 51.3 PPG in three outings at Brooks Stadium, going 3-0 SU/ATS. On defense, the Chants have allowed just 13.0 PPG.

Look for another lopsided result against one of the worst teams in the Sun Belt Conference.

Over/Under

OVER 57.5 (-115) is worth a roll of the dice. Yes, CCU has hit the Under in each of the two games, but it scores plenty at home where it can nearly take care of the Over itself with little help from the opposition. It’s not likely to get much help from Monroe, which is averaging just 17.0 PPG and it ranks last in the nation with 209.3 total yards per game.

Massachusetts at Coastal Carolina odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Massachusetts Minutemen at Coastal Carolina Chanticleers odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Massachusetts Minutemen (0-3) and the No. 17 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (3-0) meet Saturday at Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Massachusetts at Coastal Carolina odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Minutemen have struggled defensively, but at least they have picked up the pace on offense. UMass has allowed 42 or more points in each of its three losses with the Over going 3-0. However, the offense has scored 28 in each of the past two games, against Eastern Michigan and Boston College.

Last week, the Chanticleers passed their first true test of the season, a trip to Buffalo against a strong MAC team. But they have really been strongest at home, averaging 50.5 points per game in wins over Kansas and The Citadel, while covering each and hitting the Over in the two games.

Massachusetts at Coastal Carolina odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Coastal Carolina 52, Massachusetts 20

Money line

You can’t play Coastal Carolina (-10000) as a $100 wager nets you a profit of just $1. That’s ridiculous and a losing long-term betting strategy.

AVOID.

Against the spread

MASSACHUSETTS +36.5 (-112) has been terrible defensively. Coastal Carolina will score its fair share of points. However, the Minutemen have shown that they can at least move the ball when given their chance on offense. They’ll keep this one within 5 touchdowns.

We saw Coastal look mortal last week at Buffalo, and Kansas was able to score 15 points on the Chants in the first half before falling off in the final 30. Coastal is tremendous offensively, but questions still remain on defense.

Over/Under

OVER 65.5 (-115) is always the play in UMass games. The Minutemen are awful defensively but serviceable on offense. Look for QB Grayson McCall and Coastal to roll up the points in this final tune-up before getting into Sun Belt play.

Coastal Carolina at Georgia State: Three things to know

1. Three of Georgia State’s four games have been decided by one score, including its most recent contest, a 36-34 win at Troy a week ago. Paced by the efforts of RB Destin Coates, the Panthers rushed for 210 yards in that game against the Trojans. Coates averages over 27 carries per game; he has logged three 100-yard efforts in as many games this season. GSU averages 237.3 yards per game on the ground (third Sun Belt).

2. Coastal Carolina has been a more balanced team on offense, and the Chanticleers rank second in the league in total defense (345 yards per game). In all five games this season and in seven of CCU’s last eight games overall, the Chanticleers have held foes under 30 points.

3. Coastal Carolina HC Jamey Chadwell, a two-time FCS National Coach of the Year finalist and three-time Big South Coach of the Year, has the Chanticleers on a bit of a revenge tour this autumn. Three of the team’s wins so far in 2020 were against Sun Belt opponents that beat Coastal a year ago. Georgia State would fit into those plans: The Panthers defeated CCU 31-21 last season (Oct. 12).

Coastal Carolina at Georgia State: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Coastal Carolina 35, Georgia State 31

Money line (ML)

The lean in a vacuum is toward Coastal Carolina, but a -173 tag implies a win percentage of 63.37%. We can’t slide any value in on that price. PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

An upper body injury has Coastal QB Grayson McCall possibly being sidelined in this one. But the Chanticleers have a capable backup in QB Fred Payton who has started a dozen collegiate games, including last week’s 28-18 win over Georgia Southern.

The lean is still with CCU, but it’s a slight one at best. PASS, unless you can find an evenly-priced spread of -3.

Over/Under (O/U)

The best value in this game is on the total. Look for a close game with the winner scoring in the neighborhood of 35-38 points. BACK THE OVER 60.5 (-110).
