Kendrick Perkins is losing faith in the Boston Celtics

The former Boston Celtics champion isn’t convinced that his former team can compete for a championship this season.

For the second straight playoff series, the Boston Celtics dropped game two in front of their hometown crowd. They lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers 118-94. A 24-point loss on your home floor is always tough to stomach, and it’s even worse when you’re viewed as a legitimate contender for an NBA championship.

Following Boston’s loss, former Celtics champion Kendrick Perkins shared his frustrations. Speaking on a May 10 episode of ESPN’s ‘NBA Today,’ Perkins noted how Boston’s lackluster performance was the ‘same old story’ from a team that has consistently struggled to get over the final hurdle in the postseason.

The Celtics will now travel to Cleveland for games three and four. If they win both of those contests, they will be heading back to the TD Garden with hopes of closing out the series in five games, just as they did to the Miami Heat.

Someone needs to talk to Jayson Tatum before the Boston Celtics’ Game 3 vs. the Cavs

Tatum needs a pep talk of sorts heading into Boston’s Game 3.

According to at least some members of the Boston Celtics media corps, star Celtics forward Jayson Tatum needs a pep talk of sorts heading into Boston’s Game 3 vs. the Clevenad Cavaliers in their 2024 Eastern Conference semifinals series taking place at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland tonight (May 11).

In a recent episode of the CLNS Media “Big 3 NBA” podcast, cohosts A. Sherrod Blakely, Gary Washburn and Kwani Lewis discussed the ramifications of Tatum’s playoff struggles and the overall lackluster performance of Game 2.

Tale a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say about the St. Louis native’s poorly-timed slump.

Jayson Tatum believes Boston will bounce back vs. the Cavs in Game 3; is he right?

“We don’t expect it to be easy,” said Tatum. “This is a good team we’re playing. It’s the second round of the playoffs.”

While fans of the Boston Celtics were irked by their favorite team’s 118-94 blowout Game 2 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers at TD Garden in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinals series, star Boston forward Jayson Tatum was less visibly perturbed. Speaking to the media postgame, the St. Louis native shared his level of concern with the loss, saying, “Nobody was in there defeated (or) deflated.”

“We never want to lose, especially in the playoffs,” he added. “A lot of things we can learn from it, and we get it. The world thinks we’re never supposed to lose, we’re going to win every game by 25, and it’s not going to be like that every time.”

This has been a familiar refrain from Boston’s players this season, and for the most part, they have been right. But margins of error shrink considerably in the postseason as teams advance, and it is unclear if the urgency of the situation is truly registering with the Celtics.

“We don’t expect it to be easy,” said Tatum. “This is a good team we’re playing. It’s the second round of the playoffs.”

The Duke alum tells us that “we’ve bounced back plenty of times,” pointing to the team losing a mere 18 games this past regular season. “I like to think that we respond pretty well the few times that we did lose.”

For the sake of the fans, let’s hope Tatum is right.

Tied up at 1-1, is the Boston Celtics – Cleveland Cavs East semis series a real one?

Boston will have their work cut out for them as the Cavs’ cadre of injured players inches closer to a return.

After the Boston Celtics dropped Game 2 of their 2024 Eastern Conference semifinals series with the Cleveland Cavaliers 118-94 to even it up at 1-1, fans of the Cavs began to think they might have a shot in this round vs. Boston. Are they right, or will the Celtics respond in Game 3 as the series shifts from TD Garden to Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse?

Boston will have their work cut out for them as the Cavs’ cadre of injured players inches closer to a return, with no clear date yet for a Kristaps Porzingis return on the Celtics’ side of things. A rowdy Cleveland fan base should make Game 3 an intense one.

CLNS Media’s Bobby Manning recently linked up with Carter Rodriguez from the “Chase Down” podcast for a look at Game 2 and what went wrong for the Celtics and debate whether this is a real series now as it turns to Cleveland. Check it out below!

Will the Boston Celtics respond to their loss in Cleveland for Game 3?

Or will they find themselves trailing a team that barely beat the Orlando Magic?

Somehow, the Cleveland Cavaliers having a better Game 2 after getting their proverbial posteriors handed them by the Boston Celtics in their 2024 Eastern Conference semifinals series somehow did not seem to register in how the Celtics approached that contest on the court.

“We expected them to play better, and they did,” said veteran Boston big man Al Horford to the media after the 118-94 loss to the Cavs via the Associated Press. “They responded and we didn’t.” When the series shifts back to Cleveland on Saturday (May 11), will Boston be ready to respond? Or will they find themselves trailing a team that barely beat the Orlando Magic?

The hosts of the CLNS Media “Garden Report” podcast, Bobby Manning, Josue Pavon, Jimmy Toscano, A. Sherrod Blakely and John Zannis took a closer look on a recent episode. Check it out below!

Jayson Tatum has to step up in Game 3 vs. the Cavaliers

What will it take to get top-five Tatum back?

Star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum needs to step up for his team vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 3 of their 2024 Eastern Conference semifinals series on Saturday (May 11). The St. Louis native has been in something of a slump in recent games, and it is coming at the worst possible time of year. Can he put his yips behind him and find a way to contribute more efficiently to wins?

Despite Tatum averaging 21.7 points, 10 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game, his shooting efficiency has been a concern, with a field goal percentage of 40.7% and a 3-point shooting percentage of just 26.8%. What will it take to get top-five Tatum back?

The hosts of the CLNS Media “Garden Report” podcast, Bobby Manning, Josue Pavon, Jimmy Toscano, A. Sherrod Blakely and John Zannis, shared their thoughts on JT’s play of late on a recent episode. Check it out below!

Who cost the Boston Celtics the most in their Game 2 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers?

The Celtics’ defense, in particular, stood out at a macro level, but what about when one dials in on individual Celtics?

Boston’s Jaylen Brown nonplussed with Celtics’ defensive efforts vs. Cavs in Game 2

Jaylen Brown was not pleased with how he and the rest of the Boston Celtics defended the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2.

Jaylen Brown was not pleased with how he and the rest of the Boston Celtics defended the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 of their 2024 East semis series at TD Garden this past (May 9) at TD Garden. And he said as much when talking to the media after Boston’s 118-94 blowout loss.

“We didn’t shoot the ball very well tonight, but defensively it was an unacceptable performance, and I think that’s where we look at that, and I’m the most upset,” said Brown of his team’s poor defensive showing vs. the Cavs. “Defensively, we gave up 118 points, and on top of that we lost the rebound battle, so we didn’t help ourselves tonight.”

Brown pointed to the team’s struggles to connect offensively as a factor feeding into the poor play on the other end of the court. “I think just overall, maybe we missed some shots, and we let that translate.”

“It’s the playoffs, that can’t happen,” he emphasized. “I don’t care if you’re missing shots, you’ve got to guard the guy on the other end. That allows you to miss more shots if you’re playing defense.”

“But you can’t miss shots and then allow them to make shots at the other end. That was unacceptable.”

Boston Celtics lose Game 2 to the Cleveland Cavaliers in blowout

What happened to the Celtics’ vaunted defense? Why were they not hitting the sea with a pebble all night long?

The Boston Celtics lost Game 2 of their 2024 Eastern Conference semifinals series to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 118-94 blowout at TD Garden this past (May 9) Thursday evening. What happened to the Celtics’ vaunted defense? Why were they not hitting the sea with a pebble all night long?

More importantly for fans of the team, when are the Cavs’ injured big men set to return, can they win another game with the series shifting to their home court, and could they actually lose this series? The hosts of the CLNS Media “How Bout Them Celtics!” and “Talkin’ Cs” podcasts, Jack Simone, Sam LaFrance, and Bobby Krivitsky, weighed in on all of the above issues.

Check out the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say.
