The Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors open their seasons Wednesday. Tip-off from Scotiabank Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Cavaliers vs. Raptors odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Cavaliers won 2-1 last season

Cleveland finished 48-34 last season, good for 4th place in the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers skated past the Magic 4-3 in the 1st round of the playoffs before falling in 5 games to the eventual champion Boston Celtics in the conference semifinals.

Toronto had a disappointing year last season after finishing 12th in the Eastern Conference with a 25-57 record and missing the playoffs for the second straight season.

Cavaliers at Raptors picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 118, Raptors 109

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on the Cavaliers (-250) to win Wednesday.

Against the spread

BET CAVALIERS -6.5 (-110).

Cleveland is looking to start this season how it ended last year, and there is no better team to do that against than the Raptors. Toronto will be without its starting SG Barrett, who averaged more than 20 points per game last season. Look for the Cavs to speed up the pace and put this game out of reach in the closing minutes.

Over/Under

BET OVER 225.5 (-110).

The Cavaliers and Raptors are both young teams that like to accelerate the pace, increasing the amount of possessions. Led by G Donovan Mitchell, who averaged 26.6 points per game last season, expect Cleveland to carry more of the load.

Cavaliers at Raptors picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 108, Cavaliers 101

Moneyline

The RAPTORS (-120) are worth a play on the moneyline, as the Cavaliers will be a bit tired after playing back-to-back outings. Toronto will be a little more rested.

The Cavs are 2-1 SU in the past 3 games in the second end of a back-to-back, but both of the wins were at home, while the loss was on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers Nov. 7.

Against the spread

RAPTORS -1.5 (-110) is an even better play, as all they need to do is win by a bucket.

The Cavaliers are just 0-5-1 ATS in the past 6 games on the road while going 1-7 ATS in the past 8 on the road against teams with a winning home mark. The Cavs are also 3-8-1 ATS in the past 12 when playing on no rest.

In addition, the Raptors are 6-1 ATS in the past 7 home games against the Cavaliers, including the meeting in early October.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 213.5 (-110).

The Under has cashed in 4 of the past 5 games overall for the Cavaliers while going 5-2 in the previous 7 games following a straight-up win.

The Raptors have hit the Under at a 5-2 clip in the past 7 games against teams with a win percentage over .600 while going 10-4 in the past 14 Monday games.

In addition, the Under has cashed at a 4-1 clip in the past 5 games in Toronto.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Toronto Raptors odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Toronto Raptors odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Cleveland Cavaliers travel to Canada to visit the Toronto Raptors Wednesday for an Eastern Conference season-opener. Tipoff from Scotiabank Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Cavaliers vs. Raptors odds, and our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Cavaliers come into this season looking to make the playoffs after losing in the play-in tournament last year to the Atlanta Hawks. Coach J.B. Bickerstaff has emerged as one of the top coaches in the NBA. Cleveland looks to be a strong team in a loaded Eastern Conference after having a big off-season and adding newly acquired G Donovan Mitchell from the Utah Jazz in exchange for G Collin Sexton.

With all-stars C Jarrett Allen and G Darius Garland along with F Evan Mobley, who is entering his second year, this team has some serious talent and leadership. Long-time F Kevin Love is looking to stay healthy and play a significant role in this team’s playoff hopes. They also added national champion F Ochai Agbaji out of Kansas in the 2022 NBA draft and will be looking to see what he can add to this team as well.

The Raptors enter this season after losing in the first round of the NBA Playoffs last year in 6 games to the Philadelphia 76ers. Led by former Coach of the Year, this team looks to do what they have done for most of their recent history: make a big splash in the playoffs. With returning all-stars F Pascal Siakam and G Fred VanVleet, along with last year’s Rookie of the Year F Scottie Barnes, this team has some deadly talent.

Cavaliers at Raptors picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 104, Raptors 100

Moneyline

LEAN CAVALIERS (+115).

Despite being both the underdog and the away team, I believe the Cavaliers will win this one, but this is your riskiest bet. The Cavaliers to me seem like a better team than the Raptors, especially with the new pieces they added this off-season. The Raptors are more experienced and have tremendous talent as well, and both of these teams are extremely well-coached, so you can expect a great game and not a blowout.

Against the spread

BET CAVALIERS +2.5 (-108).

Because I believe this will be both a close game and my belief that the Cavaliers will win, this is your safest bet. The Cavaliers are simply a better team and I believe they will prove that in this game and cover the spread.

Don’t underestimate the Raptors and their talent, but with an offensively talented backcourt with Garland and Mitchell, and a frontcourt that can hoop on both ends of the ball, I see the Cavaliers taking this one.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 213.5 (-105).

Both of these teams have tremendous offensive firepower, but both Nurse and Bickerstaff push their teams to play great defense. Not only do these teams have great individual defenders, but they also play great team defense. Because of that, I believe the under will beat the over in this game.

The Cavaliers have especially great paint defense with Mobley and Allen. This bet has a good amount of risk to it which makes it your second safest for this one. Don’t be surprised if the offensive stars on both sides prove to be too challenging for the defenses.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Toronto Raptors odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Toronto Raptors and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toronto Raptors (40-32) host the Cleveland Cavaliers (41-31) Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off at Scotiabank Arena. Below, we look at the Cavaliers vs. Raptors odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Cleveland went 3-2 straight up (SU) and 2-2-1 against the spread (ATS) on its five-game homestand entering Thursday’s road outing. The Cavs had a two-game win streak snapped Monday in a 131-120 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers at home.

Toronto is 5-2 SU and ATS in its last seven games but those two losses came in the previous three games with the latest being a 113-99 home loss to the Chicago Bulls Monday.

The Cavs are 3-0 SU and ATS versus the Raptors this season and the total is 1-2 Over/Under (O/U).

Cavaliers at Raptors odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 110, Cavaliers 101

Money line

PASS.

Toronto is the right side but the Raptors (-230) is way too expensive considering the Cavaliers have been one of the feistier underdogs in the NBA this season and are 10-13 SU as road underdogs.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

BET the RAPTORS -5.5 (-108) because they’ve been missing heavy firepower in their previous meetings with the Cavaliers and Toronto is trending in a better direction than Cleveland entering this game.

Toronto was missing its two leading scorers for two Cavaliers-Raptors meetings (PF Pascal Siakam and All-Star PG Fred VanVleet) and the Raptors were without their entire starting 5 in a 144-99 loss to the Cavs Dec. 26.

Cleveland is also just 21st in adjusted net rating (minus-3.3) over the past two weeks and 20th in ATS margin (minus-2.9), according to CleaningTheGlass.com. On the other hand, Toronto is 13th in adjusted net rating (plus-1.0) and ninth in ATS margin (plus-3.6).

This is a pros and joes game in the betting market, which has caused oddsmakers to raise Toronto’s spread from -3.5 on the opener up to the current number.

There’s still value with RAPTORS -5.5 (-108) but I would go lighter than full-unit since we are a little late to the party.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 214.5 (-107) because both teams play at a bottom-six pace and it feels like most of the market will be on the Over.

The Raptors have gone Under the total in six of their last seven games as favorites and the Cavs are 9-14 O/U as road underdogs.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Toronto Raptors odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Toronto Raptors odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

On Friday evening, the Cleveland Cavaliers (5-4) will visit the Scotiabank Arena to face the Toronto Raptors (6-3). Tip-off is expected for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Cavaliers at Raptors odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Cavaliers, who have a potential Rookie of the Year candidate in F Evan Mobley, will face another rookie phenom in Toronto’s F Scottie Barnes. However, they’ll have to do it without several key players. Losing F Isaac Okoro for a game against two premier forwards is not a good sign either.

However, at 5-4, the Cavaliers are exceeding expectations. Beating Toronto at home is no easy task. After starting the season 1-3, the Raptors are hot, riding a five-game win streak.

Toronto F OG Anunoby has been the crux of their success as he’s evolving into one of the premier forwards in the NBA. That said, the Raptors will enter as near 6-point favorites.

Cavaliers at Raptors odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 108, Raptors 106

Money line

“LEAN” to the CAVALIERS (+175) as some value is there.

I would prefer to take the points, but I like Mobley’s size and, with C Jarrett Allen having dominated the paint so far this season, I think Cleveland will be able to tame a lethal forward duo.

Cavs G Collin Sexton against Raptors G Fred VanVleet may determine this game, and although the experience is with the latter, Sexton is nearing 18 points per game and shooting 48 percent from the field. His efficiency is hitting career-high levels.

Also, believe it or not, but the Raptors are 2-3 at home and 4-0 on the road. Could a regression to the mean be due? This team is solid, but winning five in a row is no easy task.

I think Cleveland steals this one on the road.

Against the spread

BET on the CAVALIERS +5.5 (-112) as the best bet in this game. Although the Raptors have won five straight, their last four have been by single digits with two coming under six points.

While the Cavs seem injured, their top four scorers will all be playing, and they’ve all averaged over 45 percent shooting.

Considering Cleveland has the size advantage, slowing down Barnes and Anunoby could be easier than it is for most teams. The Cavs have the 12th-best defensive rating.

Toronto has the best offensive rebounding rate in the NBA.

Cleveland is top ten in offensive rebounding rate as well, this game could be dictated on the glass, and I’d favor the team that lines their starting lineup with two players that have a 7-foot-4 wingspan or greater.

The Cavs are 6-3 ATS while Toronto is 5-4 ATS.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the OVER 206.5 (-110) as both teams, as noted, are solid on the glass.

There should be plenty of easier looks at the rim in this one. Somehow the Cavs are a bottom third team in defensive rebounding rate yet play two massive players in their frontcourt. Toronto should expose them on the glass.

Both teams have over a 105 offensive rating. With this being a relatively lower total and the Raptors have hit 109 or more in four of their last five games, I’m going with the Over.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (21-39) visit the Toronto Raptors (25-35) Monday for a 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla. Below, we analyze the Cavaliers-Raptors odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Raptors, 12th in the Eastern Conference, had a four-game win streak snapped in a 120-103 loss to the New York Knicks Saturday. Toronto had three players score at least 26 points, but no one else had more than 8 in the loss.

The Cavaliers are 13th in the East but trail the Raptors by 4 games. They’re just 4-12 since March 26 and are coming off a 119-110 road loss against the Washington Wizards Sunday.

Cavaliers at Raptors: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Raptors 114, Cavaliers 102

Money line (ML)

The Raptors (-550) should get back in the win column Monday while still in the fight for the all-important 10th seed in the Eastern Conference, but the chalky price needs to be avoided.

Against the spread (ATS)

Toronto and Cleveland split their first two meetings of the season with the Raptors winning 135-115 as 3-point underdogs in the most recent of those matchups April 10. The Raps had covered in four straight games prior to Saturday while the Cavs are 1-5 ATS in their last six games.

Toronto is the much better 3-point shooting team and Cleveland is 27th in 3-point defense. The Cavs are also 28th in offensive rating for the season and are expected to be without their leading scorer in Sexton (24.5 points per game) once again.

Back the RAPTORS -10.5 (-110) to win by at least 11 points with the Cavaliers lacking the offense to keep up.

Over/Under (O/U)

Lean very slightly to the UNDER 217.5 (-110). The first two meetings of the season played to the Over on similar point projections, but Cleveland is just 2-4-1 O/U over its last seven games coming into Monday.

The offensive ratings of both the Raptors and their opponents also take hits with Boucher off the court.
