Cavaliers at Trail Blazers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 116, Trail Blazers 109

Moneyline

Even after a disappointing loss to the Jazz, I’ll side with the CAVALIERS (-150) in this contest. I’d try to get Cleveland to win at -150 odds or better if I’m taking either of these teams straight up.

Against the spread

With Allen expected to play and Rubio potentially making his season debut, CAVALIERS -3.5 (-105) is where I’m leaning. There’s also a chance Lillard isn’t 100% healthy if he’s active for the Trail Blazers.

Over/Under

OVER 220.5 (-105) is an enticing wager despite the Cavaliers playing at the slowest pace in the NBA. Both of these teams are top 13 teams in offensive rating.

The Cavaliers are 7-1 to the Over in their last 8 games when their opponent scored 100-plus points in their previous game.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Portland Trail Blazers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (10-16) visit the Portland Trail Blazers (14-10) Friday for a 10 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Cavaliers-Trail Blazers NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Cavaliers are on a 5-game skid. The most recent setback was a 133-95 rout as 9.5-point road underdogs at the Denver Nuggets Wednesday. Cleveland was outscored in every quarter, starting with a 34-17 deficit in the opening 12 minutes. The Cavs have won just once in their last 8 games and are on an 0-for-8 skid against the spread. PG Collin Sexton, the Cavs leading scorer with 22.7 points per game, was held to a season-low 4 points in the loss at Denver.

The Trail Blazers beat the visiting Philadelphia 76ers 118-114 as 5.5-point underdogs Thursday for their second win in a row. PG Damian Lillard scored a team-high 30 points and SF Carmelo Anthony added 24 off the bench, including two tiebreaking free throws with 3.1 seconds left. Lillard leads the Blazers with 29.4 PPG.

This is the first regular-season meeting between the two squads. Cleveland won the lone head-to-head battle last season, claiming a 110-104 home victory as a 6-point dog. Portland was 2-0 vs. Cleveland two seasons ago.

Cavaliers at Trail Blazers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Trail Blazers 117, Cavaliers 114

Money line (ML)

AVOID. This is a tricky spot for the Blazers (-190), having played Thursday, while the Cavs have had a day off to think about their 38-point waxing in Denver.

Against the spread (ATS)

CLEVELAND +4.5 (-110) is the play here. Teams coming off a blowout loss are dangerous. If the players have any pride, they’re going to be super focused in the next game.

Portland, 1-2 straight up and ATS on no days’ rest, was involved in a tough battle Thursday with Philly, pulling out the victory in the end. The Trail Blazers’ energy won’t be the same Friday, and the Cavs will be motivated to avoid back-to-back debacles.

ATS records: Cavaliers 10-16 | Trail Blazers 12-12

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 222.5 (-110) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager. Portland is 5-2 O/U in its last seven games and 8-3 O/U in its last 11. On no days’ rest, the Trail Blazers are 2-1 O/U this season. Plus, they’re 4-1 O/U in their last five home games.

Cleveland has played to more Unders than Overs, but it’s 3-0-1 O/U in its last four games on a 1-day rest and is 8-2-1 in its last 11 games as an underdog. The Cavs are also 4-1 O/U in their last five games vs. a team with a winning record.

O/U records: Cavaliers 11-14-1 | Trail Blazers 13-11
