Cleveland Browns Super Bowl odds: BetMGM not buying Dawg Pound as contenders

Assessing the midseason Super Bowl futures odds for the Cleveland Browns, with a look at their odds to win the AFC Central.

The Cleveland Browns (5-3) sit in third place in the AFC North, but this is their best start to a season in a long time. They lost their first home game of the year in Week 9, 16-6 to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Below, we analyze the midseason 2020 Cleveland Browns Super Bowl odds, odds of winning their division as well as NFL futures and opine on whether they’re worth a Super Bowl futures bet at this time.

Aside from their two blowout losses to division leaders—the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 and the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6—there’s a lot for Browns fans to be excited about.

QB Baker Mayfield, the 2018 No. 1 overall draft pick had the best game of his career against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7. Mayfield shook off a bad first-quarter interception to end up with five touchdown passes, including a game-winning touchdown pass in the final minute to WR Donovan Peoples-Jones, and a 135.6 QB Rating.

Cleveland’s No. 1 overall pick on the other side of the ball, DE Myles Garrett, is on the short list of candidates for Defensive Player of the Year. Garrett is tied with Los Angeles Rams DT Aaron Donald for the league lead in sacks (nine sacks) and tied with Baltimore DB Marlon Humphrey with four forced fumbles.

All that being said, the market is lower on Cleveland than in the offseason. The Browns’ Super Bowl future odds currently are +8000 or double from their preseason odds of +4000.

Browns division betting odds

  • Pittsburgh Steelers -358
  • Baltimore Ravens +260
  • Cleveland Browns +2500
  • Cincinnati Bengals +100000

It’s not just that the Browns lost to both of the teams ahead of them in the AFC North standings but that they were crushed in both games. Cleveland is less explosive with the season-ending injury to RB Odell Beckham Jr. and a still injured RB Nick Chubb.

These big-time losses by the Browns and Pittsburgh’s two-game cushion on Cleveland (plus owning the tiebreaker) force me to PASS ON CLEVELAND’S DIVISION FUTURE.

If you are hungry for Cleveland action, I “LIKE” BROWNS -167 TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. The Browns have a soft remaining schedule (27th-toughest according to Football Outsiders), which includes three NFC East opponents, and Cleveland will get Chubb back soon.

Browns futures picks and predictions

This is another spot where you could convince yourself there is value in Browns +8000 to win the Super Bowl but you’d be lying. Cleveland hasn’t proven it can step up in competition to get a win and most likely won’t get a playoff home game.

PASS ON BROWNS +8000 TO WIN THE SUPER BOWL.
