The Browns just can’t get rid of Brownie the Elf

Brownie returns to the 50 yard line again in 2024

For the third straight season, Brownie the Elf will be on the 50-yard line of Cleveland Browns Stadium after a fan vote. The new dog logo came in second place, with the traditional helmet, now with the white facemask, coming in last place.

I personally thought the helmet with the white facemask looked best, and the popularity of the facemask color change would be the winner of the fan vote. The Browns continue to let fans make decisions with things like that something that you don’t see other teams doing often.

Now that the first preseason game of the year is over, the Browns welcome the Minnesota Vikings to town for a pair of joint practices in Berea. The teams will also square off in Cleveland next Saturday at 4:25 p.m. for their second preseason game, the last one they will have at home before closing the preseason in Seattle on the 24th.

Browns respond to the City of Cleveland’s stadium renovation proposal

The team has responded to the proposal

The saga between the Cleveland Browns and the City of Cleveland continued on Thursday after the team submitted a proposal for renovations. For a while, the conversation has been about whether the team would renovate Cleveland Browns Stadium or build a dome in Brook Park.

The city’s proposal totaled $461 million to renovate the current stadium, though it’s in rough shape, and its long-term sustainability isn’t good no matter how much they spend renovating it. The team responded not long after the proposal, you can read the full statement by clicking here.

There wasn’t much actual information in the team’s response, but reading between the lines, they seem committed to a new stadium, likely a dome. Where might still be in question, but the current stadium was built quickly and poorly, and it just isn’t feasible to think the current one can be used long-term.

The Browns will be back in front of fans at training camp practice in Berea on Sunday with the preseason kicking off next weekend.

Browns want Cleveland to pay for half of stadium renovations totaling $1 billion

Would residents be OK with the city picking up half the tab?

Another event in the stadium saga has taken place as the Cleveland Browns have suggested a renovation plan costing between $1 billion and $1.2 billion. The real kicker, of course, is that the Browns want the city of Cleveland to foot about half of the bill.

This comes after the team bought land in Brook Park, leading fans to believe that the Browns could be moving to that location after the current stadium lease ends. This seems like it could be the team positioning themselves to say they are moving the stadium to Brook Park if the city doesn’t help with renovation costs to keep them on the lake.

This storyline will continue for a while — the stadium lease isn’t due to end until after the 2028 season.
