The Cincinnati Bengals got the easy part out of the way Thursday night and still have the bulk of their workload in front of them.

Cincinnati started the draft with Joe Burrow but also begins Friday night at the top of Round 2. Here’s a rundown of the situation.

The story so far…

…Joe Burrow.

That’s it — that’s the story. The Bengals made him the top pick as expected. Fans can watch Zac Taylor giving him the call. The long-awaited pairing sets one of the most successful college passers ever on a path to revive a downtrodden franchise.

Day 2 Picks

  • Round 2, 33 overall
  • Round 3, 65 overall

The Needs: WR, LB/EDGE, OL

Courtesy of an aggressive approach to free agency, the Bengals don’t have a ton of outright, dramatic needs to address.

But that doesn’t mean need shouldn’t factor into the value equation completely. Wideout is a long-term issue given the current contracts. Grabbing a faller on Day 2 or even 3 could help find a long-term starter.

A versatile defender who can provide injury insurance and pack a punch as a rotational rusher is something the team will have to add at some point. Ditto for the offensive line, where nothing seems guaranteed about the right side. The Bengals might have prospects they like there — but it shouldn’t stop them from adding more talent capable of battling for a spot.
