Cincinnati Bengals at Washington Football Team odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing the Cincinnati Bengals at Washington Football Team preseason Week 2 matchup, with NFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) visit the nation’s capital to take on the Washington Football Team (0-1) Friday in Week 2 of NFL preseason action. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at FedExField. Below, we look at the Bengals vs. Washington odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

Bengals star QB Joe Burrow will not play Friday, but he is set to travel with the team. His absence will give QB Brandon Allen, who was underwhelming against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, the start for Cincinnati.

Expect at least some of rookie WR Ja’Marr Chase and standout RB Joe Mixon. The Bengals beat the Bucs in their first preseason game, while Washington lost to the New England Patriots last week.

Washington QB Ryan Fitzpatrick should play at least one series, but he also wasn’t overly impressive in his short time against New England. Washington managed just 13 points last week.

Bengals at Washington odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bengals 17, Washington 13

Money line

“LEAN” to the BENGALS (+180) as they should have the more better threats offensively. With a trio of talented receivers, the Bengals will be allotting snaps to many high-profile players.

While Washington will have arguably the best receiver on the field in WR Terry McLaurin, it’s unknown how much he’ll play, and regardless, he may not get many drives with Fitzpatrick.

Washington’s offense struggled in the first week with its star-studded defense not playing many series. Expect a similar story which would be beneficial for Cincinnati.

PLAY: Try our new, free daily Pick’em Challenge and win. Play now!

Against the spread

BET on the BENGALS +3.5 (-105) as the best bet in this entire game. The Bengals easily covered their Week 1 spread against the Super Bowl-winning Bucs.

On top of that, Washington’s backups on defense looked awful against New England, struggling to do anything against the ultra-accurate QB Mac Jones. WFT failed to cover the spread against the Pats.

Over/Under

BET on the UNDER 34.5 (-105) as the Bengals shouldn’t have their starters in past the first quarter and are already down Burrow. Neither team hit 20 points in their first action of the year.

Expect another low-scoring game.

New to NFL betting?

The Bengals, at +180 odds, have an implied 35.71% chance of winning, or 9/5 fractional odds.

Washington (-220) has an implied 68.75% chance of beating the Bengals, or 5/11 fractional odds.

The Bengals would have to win outright or lose by 3 or fewer for the +3.5 (-105) ticket to cash. Washington would have to win by 4 for the -3.5 (-115) ticket to cash.

There would need to be at least 35 points scored Thursday for an OVER 34.5 (-110) ticket to cash, while a combined point total of 34 or fewer points is a win for the Under.

Cincinnati Bengals at Tampa Bay Buccaneers odds and lines: Super Bowl LV champs heavily favored in opener

Breaking down the odds and lines for Saturday’s 2021 NFL preseason opener between the Cincinnati Bengals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Super Bowl LV champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers play host to the Cincinnati Bengals Saturday in the 2021 NFL preseason opener for both sides. Kickoff at Raymond James Stadium will be at 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Bengals at Buccaneers odds and lines.

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians said all his starters, including QB Tom Brady will see at least some time on the field Saturday. Meanwhile, Bengals second-year QB Joe Burrow will be held out of the preseason opener; however, RB Joe Mixon will see time in his return from injury.

Brady didn’t see the field in Week 1 of the preseason since 2017 when with the New England Patriots. He played in just two exhibition games in 2018 and only one in 2019.

New to NFL betting?

The Buccaneers are heavy favorites by normally conservative preseason standards. They have an implied win probability of 71.43% by the -250 money line odds and need to win by 6 or more points in order to cover the spread.

The Bengals can cover the spread by losing by 5 or fewer points or by winning outright in an upset victory. Their implied win probability by the +200 odds is just 33.33%.

If the Bengals and Buccaneers combine to score 35 or more points Saturday, bets on the Over 34.5 (-110) will be deemed winners. A combined point total of 34 or fewer points is a win for the Under.

Ravens at Bengals: Game notes

  • The Ravens will clinch a wild-card berth with a victory, or they’ll need either of the Cleveland Browns or Indianapolis Colts to lose.
  • Baltimore comes in on a four-game winning streak with three of those victories coming by at least a 14-point margin. They toppled the New York Giants 27-13 last week.
  • The Bengals have won back-to-back games after snapping a five-game losing skid. They beat the Houston Texans 37-31 on the road last week.
  • The Bengals and Ravens met in Week 5 in Baltimore with the hosts earning a 27-3 victory. The Ravens have won four straight against the Bengals and swept the 2019 head-to-head series.
  • Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, the 2019 MVP, has thrown for 2,644 yards and 23 touchdowns against eight interceptions through 14 games. He has another 908 yards and 7 touchdowns as a runner.
  • Cincinnati QB Brandon Allen has completed 69.42% of his passes for 877 yards and 5 touchdowns against 2 interceptions in place of injured rookie QB Joe BurrowRyan Finley started the Week 15 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers but needed to throw for just 89 yards and a single score.

Ravens at Bengals: Key injuries

Ravens

  • DE Yannick Ngakoue (thigh) questionable
  • CB Jimmy Smith (ribs, shoulder) questionable

Bengals

  • CB William Jackson III (concussion) questionable

Ravens at Bengals: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Ravens 35, Bengals 14

Money line (?)

The Ravens (-800) will win this comfortably and book their ticket back to the playoffs but there’s no sense in betting such a chalky number.

PASS and make it somewhat of a challenge on the spread.

Against the spread (?)

The Ravens will get into the playoffs and will strike some fear in next week’s opponent with a statement win over the lowly Bengals. Baltimore was hurt by COVID-19 issues earlier this season, but it has returned to form just in time.

Back the RAVENS -13 (-110) to win by at least 14 points in the regular-season finale before looking for their first playoff win since 2014.

Over/Under (?)

The Ravens may not risk injury to key starters after building an early lead but Jackson’s proximity to 1,000 rushing yards for the season is notable. The former MVP could look to pad his stats against a Bengals defense allowing 131.1 rushing yards per game.

Take the OVER 43.5 (-110).

Bengals at Texans: Game notes

  • The Texans have lost three in a row, while the Bengals are coming off an upset win to snap a five-game skid.
  • The Texans had QB Deshaun Watson and LT Laremy Tunsil selected to the Pro Bowl this week. No Bengals players were selected.
  • Watson is having a fine season. He has passed for 4,134 yards, 27 touchdowns and only six interceptions.
  • The Texans have the league’s worst rushing attack, averaging only 86.0 yards per game.
  • Cincinnati has the league’s third-worst scoring offense, putting up only 19.4 points per contest.

Bengals at Texans: Key injuries

Bengals

  • WR Tyler Boyd (concussion) out
  • B.J. Finney (abdomen) out
  • LB Logan Wilson (ankle) questionable

Texans

  • RB Duke Johnson (neck) out
  • CB Phillip Gaines (knee) questionable

Bengals at Texans: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Texans 23, Bengals 17

Money line (?)

Considering their records, neither team has won much and has been bad money line bets. Two of the Bengals’ wins and their tie came as underdogs, but they have been underdogs in 13 of their 14 previous games. Houston has only been favored five previous times this season but has won three of them. Take the TEXANS (-350).

Against the spread (?)

Cincinnati has been quite good when it comes to beating the spread. While they are 3-10-1 on the season straight up, they are 8-6 ATS, while Houston’s cover percentage is the second-lowest in the league at 35.7%. The Texans covered the spread in two of five games in which they have been favored. Take the BENGALS +7 (-110).

Over/Under (?)

While the Bengals’ win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 15 went Over, their games went Under in the previous four games. Houston’s games have gone Under in three straight and in five of their last six. Take UNDER 46.5 POINTS (-115).

Steelers at Bengals: Game notes

  • The 2-10-1 Bengals on Monday night? The primetime slot made sense when the schedule was released because No. 1 overall draft pick Joe Burrow would be QBing the Bengals. Unfortunately, he suffered a season-ending injury in Week 11. Cincinnati will start QB Ryan Finley (75 passing yards on 10-for-19 attempts, 0 TDs, 2 INTs, 4 appearances with 0 starts this season).
  • The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a second consecutive loss after starting the season 11-0. They dropped a 26-15 decision at the Buffalo Bills in the Week 14 Sunday Night Football game as 2-point underdogs. A real concern is the running game, which only produced 47 yards vs. the Bills.
  • The Steelers already clinched a playoff berth. They trail the Kansas City Chiefs (13-1) for the AFC’s No. 1 seed, and lead the Cleveland Browns (10-4) by 1½ games in the AFC North. The Steelers could easily lose their final two regular-season contests. They host the Indianapolis Colts (10-4) next week and close at Cleveland in Week 17, which could decide the division title.
  • Pittsburgh has recorded a sack in an NFL-record 70 consecutive regular-season games.
  • The Bengals, who were 3-point underdogs, lost at home to the Dallas Cowboys 30-7 last week. The Bengals have lost 5 in a row after a hard-to-figure 31-20 upset victory at the Tennessee Titans in Week 8. They currently would have the No. 3 overall draft pick next year. The Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets are both 1-13.
  • The Steelers have won the last 10 vs. the Bengals, including a 36-10 victory at home in Week 10 as 6.5-point favorites behind QB Ben Roethlisberger’s 333 passing yards with 4 TDs. The Bengals last beat the Steelers Nov. 1, 2015 – 16-10 at Pittsburgh.

Betting stats:

  • ATS: Steelers 8-5 | Bengals 7-6
  • O/U: Steelers 4-7-2 | Bengals 5-7-1

Steelers at Bengals: Key injuries

Steelers

  • RB James Conner (quadriceps) questionable
  • OL Kevin Dotson (pectoral) out

Bengals

  • QB Brandon Allen (knee) out
  • LB Logan Wilson (ankle) out

Steelers at Bengals: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Steelers 28, Bengals 10

Money line (?)

PASS. The Steelers will win, but betting -1000 is too risky. Imagine how Los Angeles Rams ML (-2000) backers felt Sunday after losing to the New York Jets – who were 17-point dogs.

Against the spread (?)

PITTSBURGH -14.5 (-110) is the play. The Bengals are just what the doctor ordered.

Over/Under (?)

The UNDER 40.5 (-110) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager. I don’t see how the Bengals will score. They have failed to put up at least 18 points in each of their past five games, and now they’re going with their No. 3 QB. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh failed to score at least 20 points in its last three games.

Cowboys at Bengals: Game notes

  • This will be Cowboys QB Andy Dalton’s first game back in Cincinnati against the Bengals, the team who drafted him in the second round in 2011 and for whom he played nine seasons.
  • The Bengals have lost four in a row.
  • The Cowboys have lost two straight and six out of seven and are 0-3 this season against the AFC North.
  • Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott has fumbled a career-high six times in 12 games so far this season.
  • The Bengals average only 19.8 points a game this season but only 10.3 points per game in their current losing streak.

Cowboys at Bengals: Key injuries

Cowboys

  • RB Ezekiel Elliotts (hamstring) questionable
  • CB Anthony Brown (ribs) questionable
  • OT Cameron Erving (knee) questionable
  • LB Aldon Smith (foot) questionable

Bengals

  • WR Tee Higgins (hamstring) questionable
  • Brandon Wilson (hamstring) questionable
  • CB Mackensie Alexander (knee) questionable

Cowboys at Bengals: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Cowboys 24, Bengals 13

Money line (?)

Neither team is playing well and both have a good reason, as they both are playing their backup quarterbacks. However, Cincy just can’t score points since Joe Burrow was lost for the season. Dalton will get to have his revenge game. The Cowboys have the better quarterback and the better skill players. Take the COWBOYS (-200).

Against the spread (?)

Dallas has been the league’s worst team against the spread this season, covering only twice in 12 games. Cincinnati is 7-5 ATS but has failed to cover the spread in three of their last four games. Take the COWBOYS -3.5 (-110).

Over/Under (?)

Both teams have been going in opposite directions recently with the point total. Cincinnati’s games have gone Under in their last three games. Dallas’ last three have gone Over.

Considering the lack of offensive output from the Bengals in recent weeks (averaging 10.3 points per game), it is going to be very difficult to hit even this low total of 41.5. Take UNDER 41.5 POINTS (-105).

Bengals at Dolphins: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Dolphins 23, Bengals 14

Money line (?)

The Dolphins don’t yet know who they’ll start at quarterback this weekend, but that won’t matter. They’re going to beat the Bengals, who are starting QB Brandon Allen again.

The Dolphins will win fairly comfortably, with their swarming style of defense crushing Allen and Cincinnati’s offense. Take the DOLPHINS (-589) to win outright, even with an unrewarding money line.

Against the spread (?)

As 11.5-point favorites, the Dolphins are expected to win big. Just as they did against the Giants last week, the Bengals will keep this one within single digits. That’s not to say the Giants are nearly as good as the Dolphins, but the Bengals will find a way to score in garbage time to cover the spread.

Take the BENGALS +11.5 (-110) to cover, which would be their eighth covered spread in their last 11 games.

Over/Under (?)

Cincinnati hasn’t scored more than 17 points in any of its last three games, putting up a total of 36 points in those contests. The Dolphins defense is great and will once again keep the Burrow-less Bengals in check.

Take the UNDER 42.5 (-110).

Giants at Bengals: Game notes

  • The Giants had a bye last week. Despite being 3-7, they are only one-half game out of first place in the NFC East. After an 0-5 start, they won three of their last five. QB Daniel Jones has completed 63.5% of his passes for 2,122 yards with 8 touchdowns against 9 interceptions. He also leads the G-Men with 384 rushing yards – and 1 score.
  • The Bengals reportedly will start QB Brandon Allen with No. 1 overall draft pick Joe Burrow out after suffering a season-ending knee injury last week in a 20-9 loss at the Washington Football Team. It would be Allen’s fourth career start. He started three games for the Denver Broncos last year (46.4% completion rate, 515 passing yards, 3 TDs, 2 INTs) and has been on Cincinnati’s practice squad this season. The other option is backup QB Ryan Finley, who completed 3 of 10 passes for 30 yards with an interception in relief of Burrow last week. Finley lost all three of his starts as a rookie in 2019, completing just 47.1% of his passes for 474 yards with 2 TDs and 2 picks.
  • The Bengals’ backfield is also depleted. RB Joe Mixon is on IR with a foot injury, while RB Giovani Bernard (concussion) is questionable for Sunday.
  • The Giants are a solid 7-3 ATS, while the Bengals are 5-4-1 ATS.
  • New York is 0-1 as a favorite this season, only winning 20-19 as a 2-point favorite vs. Washington Oct. 18. But that was against a healthy opponent.
  • These two last played in 2016 with the Giants eking out a 21-20 victory at home as 1-point underdogs.

Giants at Bengals: Key injuries

Giants

  • WR Sterling Shepard (hip/toe) questionable
  • OL Kevin Zeitler (concussion) questionable

Bengals

  • LB Markus Bailey (hamstring) questionable
  • RB Giovani Bernard (concussion) questionable
  • WR Mike Thomas (hamstring) questionable

Giants at Bengals: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Giants 24, Bengals 6

Money line (?)

The Giants (-239) will prevail, but it’s a PASS since a money line bet requires risking nearly 2½ times the potential return.

Against the spread (?)

The GIANTS -5.5 (-115) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager. With Burrow, Mixon and possibly Bernard out, and Allen or Finley at QB, the Bengals likely wouldn’t beat the winless New York Jets (0-10). Don’t be surprised if they’re held out of the end zone in this one.

Over/Under (?)

Back the UNDER 44.5 (-115). The Giants average just 19.5 points per game to rank 30th in the NFL. The Bengals average 21.3 PPG to rank 25th, but that was with Burrow and a mostly healthy backfield.

Bengals at Washington: Game notes

  • The Bengals were dusted last week on the road against unbeaten Pittsburgh, falling 36-10 for the first non-cover in four games while a push on the total snapped a 3-0 Over run.
  • Cincinnati’s defense is allowing 398.2 total yards per game to rank 26th, 265.1 passing YPG to rank 26th, 133.1 rushing YPG to check in 27th and 27.8 points per game (24th).
  • Washington fell on the road in Detroit last week 30-27 as the Over connected for the first time since Oct. 4, snapping a 4-0 Under run.
  • The Washington offense has struggled all season, including a dismal 28th ranking in total yards per game (323.9). It ranks 20th in passing YPG (232.0), 30th in rushing YPG (91.9) and 29th in points (20.0).
  • On defense, Washington can hang with most teams. It’s allowing 320.7 total YPG (7th), 194.7 passing YPG (1st), 126.0 rushing YPG (21st) and 24.2 points per game (14th).

Bengals at Washington: Key injuries

Bengals

  • OT Fred Johnson (illness) questionable
  • RB Joe Mixon (foot) out
  • OG Alex Redmond (biceps) questionable
  • WR Mike Thomas (hamstring) questionable
  • DT Xavier Williams (back) questionable

Washington

  • DE Ryan Anderson (knee) out
  • S Deshazor Everett (ankle) out
  • PK Dustin Hopkins (groin) questionable
  • WR Dontrelle Inman (hamstring) questionable
  • OT Cornelius Lucas (ankle) out
  • LS Nick Sundberg (illness) questionable
  • WR Isaiah Wright (illness) questionable

Bengals at Washington: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bengals 29, Washington 23

Money line (?)

The BENGALS (+105) are worth a look as short dogs on the road. They have a tremendous passing attack, and QB Joe Burrow will be tasked with hoisting it up early and often with Mixon on the shelf yet again. RB Giovani Bernard gets another starting nod in the backfield, but his best attributes are his hands and catching the ball on short routes.

Against the spread (?)

The Bengals +1.5 (-110) are a better play on the money line, as catching a point and a half doesn’t make much difference. If they cover, they’re going to win. Just ML it.

Over/Under (?)

OVER 46.5 (-115) is the strongest play on the board for this game. The Over is 5-1 in Cincinnati’s past six against losing teams, and 3-0-1 in its past four as an underdog. For Washington, the Under is 7-2 in the past nine as a favorite, but the Over is 5-1 in the past six following a non-cover.
