Chiefs TE Noah Gray comments on the short turnaround on games: ‘We’re looking forward to it’

Kansas City #Chiefs TE Noah Gray comments on the short turnaround on games: ‘We’re looking forward to it’ | @EdEastonJr

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Noah Gray had another productive game last Sunday in the team’s victory over the Cleveland Browns. During Tuesday’s press conference, he shared his thoughts on how Kansas City’s unique schedule of games affects player rest.

“Yeah. I mean, it’s super important. Rest is super important. Sleep is super important. So just some of those things that we got to be extra cognizant of, you know, during this time. But it’s gonna be a lot of fun.” said Gray. “Nothing like playing ball on Christmas. So, you know, every single day that we have the opportunity to come out here and play, regardless of the circumstances, fun, and we’re looking forward to it.”

The Chiefs will play on Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium against the Houston Texans and then head on the road for a Christmas Day game with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday.

During the Week 15 win, in the last five minutes of the first half, Patrick Mahomes connected with an open Gray in the back of the end zone for a six-yard score. It marked his fifth touchdown of the season, a new single-season career high, and his fifth touchdown in as many weeks. Gray finished the victory in Cleveland with two catches for 21 yards.

Twitter reacts to Chiefs’ frustrating Week 16 loss to Raiders

Fans made their feelings about the #Chiefs’ Week 16 loss to the #Raiders known on Twitter.

Nothing went right for the Kansas City Chiefs’ offense in Week 16. Patrick Mahomes looked like a shell of himself, Travis Kelce’s frustrations boiled over, and the entire unit looked out of sorts through all four quarters.

Somehow, a Las Vegas Raiders squad led by rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell managed to make the reigning Super Bowl champions with the NFL’s reigning MVP under center look silly on their own turf.

Losses are part of life in professional sports, but such a brutal defeat on Christmas day at Arrowhead Stadium seems to be an indictment of Kansas City’s ability to win important games against opponents that are, at least on paper, beatable.

Chiefs fans will have to wait another week to see the team clinch its playoff berth, and with just two games remaining on its 2023 schedule, Kansas City can no longer afford to play the brand of football they’ve grown accustomed to this season.

Social media was buzzing after the Chiefs’ brutal loss to Las Vegas, and users weren’t afraid to let their thoughts on the sad state of affairs in Kansas City be known.

WATCH: Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco scampers for nifty wildcat touchdown vs. Raiders

#Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco scored a touchdown on a unique play from the wildcat formation against the #Raiders in Week 16.

The Kansas City Chiefs had a hard time scoring points in the first half of their Week 16 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders but finally got on the board after a nifty touchdown run by Isiah Pacheco.

The second-year running back received a snap in the wildcat formation late in the second quarter and faked a pitch to Patrick Mahomes who was in motion against the grain. When the defense bit on the trick play, Pacheco scampered toward the end zone with space to work.

Check out the impressive play here, and be sure to notice how Mahomes sells the fake before Pacheco breaks free:

Trickery like this is typical of an Andy Reid offense, and with a potential playoff berth on the line, the veteran head coach is pulling out all the stops to beat Las Vegas on Christmas day.

Expect more unique plays to be called when Kansas City gets the ball back later in the game.

A look at Aaron Rodgers’ track record vs. Miami over the course of his career

With the exception of a loss to Miami in 2010, Rodgers has had a great track record against the #Dolphins in his career

As the NFL’s reigning MVP for two straight seasons, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is among the most accomplished players at his position in league history. His expert play and uncanny ability to find receivers downfield is unmatched, and the Packers will need him to channel everything he’s got against the Miami Dolphins on Christmas day.

Over the course of his career, Rodgers has played the Dolphins three times, securing victory for Green Bay in two of those matchups. He won the only game that he played on the road against Miami, and has posted exceptionally great numbers against the Dolphins after a mediocre start against them in 2010.

In his last two matchups against Miami, he put up a passer rating of 99.7 and 112.1 and combined for five passing touchdowns while avoiding interceptions. Rodgers needs to build on that stellar track record on Sunday, as the Packers will be at a distinct disadvantage against the burgeoning Dolphins on the road.

His worst start against Miami, Green Bay’s matchup against the Dolphins in 2010, resulted in a three-point loss at Lambeau Field. He threw for over 300 yards and managed to find Packers legend Greg Jennings for a touchdown, but turned the ball over on one interception.

Members of the Green Bay faithful would be forgiven for having forgotten about this disastrous Week 6 loss that took place more than a decade ago, and though the Packers will likely be underdogs on Sunday, they can’t afford to replicate their 2010 performance in primetime for the Christmas matchup.

Rodgers is a consummate professional and has shown an ability to win against all odds in years past, so despite Green Bay’s underdog status, fans shouldn’t rule the Packers out in this game. If he can make some of his signature throws that have come to define his career in Green Bay, the team just might be able to get past the Dolphins to secure their seventh win of the season.

Green Bay’s Week 16 matchup vs. Dolphins marks Packers’ first Christmas road game

The #Packers are set to take on the #Dolphins in their first-ever Christmas road game

The Green Bay Packers matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Week 16 on Christmas will mark the first time in franchise history that the team has played on the road for the holiday game. The team has won four of their last five tilts against Miami and will be in search of their seventh win of the year on December 25th.

As a nationally televised game, this matchup will be seen by millions on Christmas day and should provide plenty of excitement for fans who hope to get their football fix over the holiday weekend. Tickets at Hard Rock Stadium have become astronomically expensive in the lead-up to the game, and with two of the league’s top quarterbacks squaring off in primetime, this highly anticipated matchup will not disappoint.

Reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers will need to bring his A-game against the Dolphins to ensure Packers fans a merry Christmas, and Green Bay’s defense on the other side of the ball should look to channel their inner grinch to spoil Miami’s holiday spirit. The Dolphins boast one of the league’s best offenses, spearheaded by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and his crew of speedy receivers, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

The Packers will likely enter this matchup as underdogs, so they’ll need to put together a sterling game plan to out-wit the Dolphins on both sides of the ball to come out of this game with a win. They won’t have the benefit of their usual home-field advantage for the Yuletide contest, so any edge that they can find over Miami will be key to securing victory.

Watch for Rodgers and the Green Bay running game to show a national audience that, despite their struggles in 2022, the Packers are still among the most dangerous teams in the NFL, and will be contenders in the years to come.
