Christian Pulisic ‘liked’ a Seth Jahn Instagram post that advocated shooting Antifa

The Instagram “like” drew attention over the weekend.

While AC Milan star Zlatan Ibrahimović recently criticized LeBron James for his political activism, the undisputed face of soccer in the U.S., Christian Pulisic, has largely been silent on the political front.

His Instagram “likes” may explain why.

Over the weekend, the U.S. Soccer athletes’ council voted to remove 2015 Paralympian Seth Jahn from the delegation after he made a racist speech at the general meetings. Jahn was speaking in opposition of the push to repeal the USSF’s anti-kneeling rule that was created in response to Colin Kaepernick’s and Megan Rapinoe’s peaceful protests of racial injustice. The council voted overwhelmingly to repeal the rule.

As U.S. soccer fans dove into Jahn’s social media amid his comments, they came across a troubling Instagram post that was “liked” by the Chelsea FC winger and USMNT captain.

The June 30 post from Jahn showed him in a room full of guns, and in the caption, he advocated for the shooting of the anti-fascist movement called Antifa (he referred to Antifa with a NSFW spelling of the group). As of time of publish, Pulisic had not “unliked” the post.

In the post that was “liked” by Pulisic, Jahn wrote:

“waitin’ for [Antifa] to let me sing them the song of my people; same lullabies that’s been providin’ oppressor/terrorist dirt naps since #1776 🎶☠️ Stay dangerous, stay strapped, my friends”

USMNT and QPR defender Geoff Cameron was also in the comments and wrote, “I need to step my game up!”

On June 3, in response to the murder of George Floyd, USMNT star and Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie posted an Instagram video calling for an end to police brutality. Pulisic did participate in that video to say, “Enough is enough.” Yet, he “liked” Jahn’s post three weeks later. (Warning: The video contains graphic footage)

For The Win has reached out to both Chelsea FC and U.S. Soccer about Pulisic’s Instagram “like.” Chelsea FC declined to comment. But a source familiar with Pulisic said that he blindly liked the post as Jahn was an acquaintance.

Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna, and Weston McKennie all scored today, and U-S-A! U-S-A!

What a day for American soccer players.

Listen I know this isn’t a big deal to a lot of countries in the world, but occasionally as an American soccer fan you need to take a moment and realize the progress that’s been made, and how exciting a time this all is.

Today is one of those days. Three Americans — Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna, and Weston McKennie — scored for top European clubs in their domestic leagues today. The clubs they play for — Chelsea, Dortmund, and Juventus — are all (in theory) in contention for their top flight title, and all playing in the Champions League.

All three of the players are 22 years old or younger.

This is WILD. We’ve never had anything like this ever happen before in this country, ever. We’ve had players make dents in Europe, to be sure, but at this age, at clubs of this caliber, scoring goals? All at once? No. Nothing like this. Nothing close to this.

Let’s start with Pulisic’s goal for Chelsea, a lovely tight finish after a late, gut-busting run to get in the six-yard box. Timo Werner is played in, Pulisic makes the run and gets across the defender to the near post, and slides with the finish.

On to McKennie, who came in as a sub in Juventus’ match against Torino, then got the tying goal in a comeback performance that saw his side prevail 2-1. Off a designed corner play, McKennie timed his run, got in behind, and finished coolly with his head.

Then, for the finale: Reyna. I mean, I don’t even know what to say about this goal. Kid’s 18 years old and he just did this against a Bundesliga side. Absolute bomb.

This is cool. This is very cool. The last time three Americans scored in top flights on the same day was 15 years ago, when Brian McBride, Gio’s dad Claudio Reyna, and Jermaine Jones did it. They weren’t all under 23 years old, however, and they weren’t playing for Champions League-caliber sides.

This is new, and exciting, and different. We can geek out a bit.

Christian Pulisic shares encouraging message after suffering hamstring injury

That’s a good sign.

Christian Pulisic’s debut season with Chelsea came to a bit of a sour end on Saturday after the 21-year-old USMNT star suffered a hamstring injury in the second half of the FA Cup Final.

Pulisic, who had been Chelsea’s most dangerous attacking threat since the restart, opened the scoring with an early goal and looked to be on his way for a potential second goal before suffering the hamstring injury mid-run (he managed to get a shot off despite being injured).

After the match, which Arsenal won 2-1, manager Frank Lampard called Pulisic’s injury a hamstring strain and ruled him out for Saturday’s Champions League second leg against Bayern Munich. But with a short layoff between the start of the 2020-21 season, there was concern that Pulisic’s injury could jeopardize the start of next season.

Well, Pulisic’s latest Instagram post should ease those worries.

On Sunday, Pulisic posted his reaction to the FA Cup Final and said that he’ll “be back in no time.”

While we don’t know the grade of Pulisic’s strain yet, that’s obviously an encouraging sign that Pulisic doesn’t anticipate a long absence.

Unless Chelsea can overcome a 3-0 aggregate deficit against Bayern, Pulisic’s debut Chelsea season will end with 11 goals in all competitions. The future is bright in West London.

Christian Pulisic exits FA Cup final with apparent hamstring injury after scoring goal

Christian Pulisic’s dream FA Cup final was cut short after suffering an apparent hamstring pull.

Christian Pulisic’s dream day was cut short on Saturday, as the American attacker had to exit the FA Cup final with an apparent hamstring injury in the second half.

Pulisic had opened the game with a well taken goal in the opening five minutes, only to suffer the injury during an attack in the second half. During a run, Pulisic appeared to scream out in pain and start slowing down his run. Despite the apparent pain, Pulisic managed to complete the run and get a shot off, before he grabbed his hamstring and crumpled to the ground. Trainers tended to him on the field, and then helped him walk gingerly as he exited the game.

It’s a terrible disappointment for Pulisic, who was really hitting his stride with Chelsea and showing himself to be one of the most dynamic attacking players in the Premier League. The goal early in the final was more proof of that, but he’ll now have to focus on rehabbing the injured leg.

Here is the goal Pulisic scored:

Christian Pulisic sets up spectacular goal minutes after coming on the field as a sub

The American star made an instant impact as a sub.

Needing just a draw to secure a spot in the Champions League next season, Chelsea suffered through an awful first half at Anfield against Premier League champions Liverpool and found themselves in a 4-1 hole after 55 minutes.

American star Christian Pulisic started the game on the bench, and was a surprising omission from the starting lineup after he did not play in a weekend FA Cup game against Manchester United. Manager Frank Lampard finally put him on the field with a half an hour left to play, and exactly 1 minute and 53 seconds after he came on, Pulisic set up a brilliant goal to give Chelsea a lifeline.

With three Liverpool defenders converging, Pulisic somehow weaved his way into the penalty area and passed the ball across the goal, allowing Tammy Abraham to tap in a goal past Alisson.

In the 73rd minute, Pulisic scored a stunning goal of his own to make it 4-3.

Pulisic has emerged as one of the best young players in the Premier League in 2020, and Chelsea will need him to have big games to finish out the season. If Chelsea fails to come back and earn a draw at Liverpool, their Champions League fate will go down to the final day of the season on Sunday. On August 1st, Chelsea will play Arsenal at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup final.

Olivier Giroud pushed his Chelsea teammate away in order to celebrate with Christian Pulisic

My heart.

Ever since the Premier League returned to play from the coronavirus stoppage, Christian Pulisic, in particular, has been on a tear with Chelsea.

The 21-year-old USMNT star missed six months due to injury and the aforementioned stoppage, but he’s been arguably Chelsea’s best — at least, most dangerous — player over the past four weeks. And the respect he’s earned from his Chelsea teammates couldn’t have been more apparent than this hilarious exchange from Tuesday’s must-win match against last-place Norwich City.

Late in the first half stoppage time, Pulisic delivered a brilliant cross that was headed by Olivier Giroud for a goal. But keep an eye on Giroud after the goal.

The objectively handsome French striker went towards Pulisic to celebrate, but Jorginho attempted to be the first to greet Giroud. Instead, Giroud *playfully* shoved Jorginho away in order to first celebrate with Pulisic who assisted the goal.

Yeah! Back off, Jorginho.

That goal ended up being the difference in the match as Chelsea looks to hold off Manchester United, Leicester City and Wolves in a crowded race for the final Champions League spots.

Oh, and Pulisic came close to scoring a goal of the year candidate.

That would’ve been special.

Christian Pulisic scored the tying goal in his first Chelsea appearance since January

Captain America is back.

The English Premier League made its return earlier in the week as “Project Restart” went in full swing, and come Sunday, it was Christian Pulisic’s turn to take the pitch for the first time in six months.

Despite Chelsea dominating the opening 45 minutes of its Sunday match against Aston Villa, the Blues went into half down, 1-0. In the 55th minute, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard brought on the USMNT star — who had last appeared for Chelsea on Jan. 1 since suffering a hip injury — off the bench.

And, well, Pulisic’s impact was felt immediately.

Less than five minutes after coming in as a substitute, Pulisic scored on a left-footed volley off a cross from Cesar Azpilicueta.

It was Pulisic’s seventh goal of the season with Chelsea. And just two minutes later, Olivier Giroud provided Chelsea with the go-ahead goal for the 2-1 win.

With a huge match upcoming against Manchester City on Thursday, it wasn’t necessarily a surprise to see Lampard have usual attacking starters like Pulisic and Tammy Abraham come off the bench. Following the match, the Chelsea manager had rave reviews for the 21-year-old American.

Via nbcsports.com:

“I hope so. He was hungry. I know that. I felt for him, as I’ve felt for the players with long term injuries. Ruben is in the same position. I know Christian was very hungry. He’s trained well and the ability he has got to arrive in the box, it is a big thing I’ve spoken about with him all season.

“The difference between being a very good attacking player off the side or the players at the real top level of the game who arrive and score in the six yard box and hit big numbers yearly. I really think Christian can do that. I was really pleased with him and the impact he had when he came on. He will start games for us, of course, and I think he’s going to be a big player for us. Not just in this run-in but obviously going forward.”

We can expect to see a lot more of Pulisic in the coming weeks as Chelsea looks to hold onto a Champions League spot.

Christian Pulisic does the best Drake ‘Toosie Slide’ while juggling a ball

Wow!

Of course athletes and everyone else spent the weekend doing the new dance from Drake’s latest tune, Toosie Slide — the video for the song had a tribute to Kobe Bryant in it — on TikTok.

But if we’re comparing and contrasting about whose Toosie Slide is best, then I have to hand an award to Chelsea and American star Christian Pulisic.

The young phenom decided to do the “right foot up, left foot slide, left foot up, right foot slide” dance to a whole new level and juggled a soccer ball while doing it, so let’s just pack it up and go home. If it’s a contest, it’s over:

Here are some others who did it including Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson, Jets offensive lineman Tarrell Basham and an offensive lineman:

American soccer fans react to Christian Pulisic beefing it during a TikTok video

The American soccer star fell hard during a TikTok, causing USMNT and Chelsea fans to hold their breath.

Christian Pulisic is, like many of us, on quarantine and looking for a way to fill the hours. As a young person, the Chelsea and USMNT star decided to get on Tik Tok. As someone who’s very good at soccer, he decided to post himself juggling a soccer ball.

And that’s when everything got very scary. At least for U.S. and Chelsea fans.

In the middle of a move, Pulisic caught the ball under his foot and went flying down.

American soccer and Chelsea fans held their breath. Pulisic made a grimace … checked things out … then smiled. Disaster was averted. We live to fight another day.

Pulisic was just about to come back from injury when global soccer shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. Fans were … rightfully a bit afraid watching the video.
