Olivier Giroud pushed his Chelsea teammate away in order to celebrate with Christian Pulisic

My heart.

Ever since the Premier League returned to play from the coronavirus stoppage, Christian Pulisic, in particular, has been on a tear with Chelsea.

The 21-year-old USMNT star missed six months due to injury and the aforementioned stoppage, but he’s been arguably Chelsea’s best — at least, most dangerous — player over the past four weeks. And the respect he’s earned from his Chelsea teammates couldn’t have been more apparent than this hilarious exchange from Tuesday’s must-win match against last-place Norwich City.

Late in the first half stoppage time, Pulisic delivered a brilliant cross that was headed by Olivier Giroud for a goal. But keep an eye on Giroud after the goal.

The objectively handsome French striker went towards Pulisic to celebrate, but Jorginho attempted to be the first to greet Giroud. Instead, Giroud *playfully* shoved Jorginho away in order to first celebrate with Pulisic who assisted the goal.

Yeah! Back off, Jorginho.

That goal ended up being the difference in the match as Chelsea looks to hold off Manchester United, Leicester City and Wolves in a crowded race for the final Champions League spots.

Oh, and Pulisic came close to scoring a goal of the year candidate.

That would’ve been special.

Christian Pulisic scored the tying goal in his first Chelsea appearance since January

Captain America is back.

The English Premier League made its return earlier in the week as “Project Restart” went in full swing, and come Sunday, it was Christian Pulisic’s turn to take the pitch for the first time in six months.

Despite Chelsea dominating the opening 45 minutes of its Sunday match against Aston Villa, the Blues went into half down, 1-0. In the 55th minute, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard brought on the USMNT star — who had last appeared for Chelsea on Jan. 1 since suffering a hip injury — off the bench.

And, well, Pulisic’s impact was felt immediately.

Less than five minutes after coming in as a substitute, Pulisic scored on a left-footed volley off a cross from Cesar Azpilicueta.

It was Pulisic’s seventh goal of the season with Chelsea. And just two minutes later, Olivier Giroud provided Chelsea with the go-ahead goal for the 2-1 win.

With a huge match upcoming against Manchester City on Thursday, it wasn’t necessarily a surprise to see Lampard have usual attacking starters like Pulisic and Tammy Abraham come off the bench. Following the match, the Chelsea manager had rave reviews for the 21-year-old American.

Via nbcsports.com:

ā€œI hope so. He was hungry. I know that. I felt for him, as Iā€™ve felt for the players with long term injuries. Ruben is in the same position. I know Christian was very hungry. Heā€™s trained well and the ability he has got to arrive in the box, it is a big thing Iā€™ve spoken about with him all season.

ā€œThe difference between being a very good attacking player off the side or the players at the real top level of the game who arrive and score in the six yard box and hit big numbers yearly. I really think Christian can do that. I was really pleased with him and the impact he had when he came on. He will start games for us, of course, and I think heā€™s going to be a big player for us. Not just in this run-in but obviously going forward.ā€

We can expect to see a lot more of Pulisic in the coming weeks as Chelsea looks to hold onto a Champions League spot.

Christian Pulisic does the best Drake ‘Toosie Slide’ while juggling a ball

Wow!

Of course athletes and everyone else spent the weekend doing the new dance from Drake’s latest tune,Ā Toosie Slide — the video for the song had a tribute to Kobe Bryant in it — on TikTok.

But if we’re comparing and contrasting about whose Toosie Slide is best, then I have to hand an award to Chelsea and American star Christian Pulisic.

The young phenom decided to do the “right foot up, left foot slide, left foot up, right foot slide” dance to a whole new level and juggled a soccer ball while doing it, so let’s just pack it up and go home. If it’s a contest, it’s over:

Here are some others who did it including Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson, Jets offensive lineman Tarrell Basham and an offensive lineman:

American soccer fans react to Christian Pulisic beefing it during a TikTok video

The American soccer star fell hard during a TikTok, causing USMNT and Chelsea fans to hold their breath.

Christian Pulisic is, like many of us, on quarantine and looking for a way to fill the hours. As a young person, the Chelsea and USMNT star decided to get on Tik Tok. As someone who’s very good at soccer, he decided to post himself juggling a soccer ball.

And that’s when everything got very scary. At least for U.S. and Chelsea fans.

In the middle of a move, Pulisic caught the ball under his foot and went flying down.

American soccer and Chelsea fans held their breath. Pulisic made a grimace … checked things out … then smiled. Disaster was averted. We live to fight another day.

Pulisic was just about to come back from injury when global soccer shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. Fans were … rightfully a bit afraid watching the video.

Tottenham remains unbeaten in its last seven domestic games, but the absence of forwards Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were felt when the team succumbed 1-0 at home to RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

The north Londoners announced earlier in the week that Son would miss ā€œa number of weeksā€ after undergoing surgery on a fractured arm, an injury he sustained while scoring a brace in Sundayā€™s 3-2 win at Aston Villa. The Spursā€™ European fate hangs in the balance after Timo Wernerā€™s second half penalty clinched an important first leg win for Leipzig, marking Tottenhamā€™s first defeat since Liverpool edged the team 1-0 on January 11. Mourinho will face Chelsea, a club in which he won more trophies than any other club in his career.

Chelsea has its own share of injury concerns ahead of the capital clash, with Nā€™Golo Kante, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic each certain to miss out. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is battling to make his first appearance of the season, while centre-back Andreas Christensen hopes to be involved after suffering a facial injury in Mondayā€™s 2-0 loss at home to Manchester United.

Striker Tammy Abraham wasnā€™t involved in that defeat and could come back into the lineup at the expense of Michy Batshuayi, who failed to inspire against the Red Devils.

Mourinho has won four of his 10 meetings with Chelsea over the course of his career, though only two of those have come in the past decade. Son was sent off when the Spurs lost 2-0 at home to Chelsea in December, and the teamā€™s chances donā€™t look much brighter ahead of the reverse fixture.

Manchester City ran away with Group C, while Shakhtar Donetsk and Dinamo Zagreb still have a chance at runner-up status. Shakhtar has the inside edge as it plays last-place Atalanta, while Dinamo plays City.Ā

Frank Lampard has Chelsea fans in dreamland with how heā€™s turned the clubā€™s fortunes around in such a short period of time since taking over as manager. Even more impressive is that heā€™s done it all while the club is under a transfer ban. Implementing young talents such as Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Christian Pulisic has done wonders for the teamā€™s form and long-term sustainability. It could be argued that the transfer ban forced this infusion of youth that likely wouldnā€™t have happened if Chelsea could splash the cash on top transfers like they usually do. The Blues actually come into this big matchup in third place, one point above City.Ā

The international break has left Manchester City alone with its thoughts after a demoralizing 3-1 loss to Liverpool. With Liverpool now nine points ahead in the title race, Man City cannot afford another misstep or it may fall out of the chase altogether. Injuries to its backline have really hurt City. Aymeric Laporteā€™s long-term absence from the lineup has had a lasting effect on the entire team. Goals havenā€™t been an issue for Cityā€™s extremely talented squad, but conceding them at the wrong times certainly has. A loss to Chelsea would be the worst case scenario for this side. Can the team withstand the pressure and get the job done?Ā
