Casi 60 jugadores de 19 clubes de la Premier League no podrán acudir con sus selecciones para la próxima fecha FIFA que viajarían a 26 países de la llamada lista roja.
La cuarentena obligatoria de 10 días posterior a su viaje sería la razón principal por la que la Premier League ha prohibido por unanimidad los viajes de los futbolistas, pues no solo disminuirá su forma física, se perderán dos fechas de Premier League, una jornada de clubes de UEFA y la tercera ronda de la Copa EFL.
México por supuesto se pierde la presencia de Raúl Jiménez quien ya tuvo actividad con los Wolves tras su lesión de cráneo. Pero su primer rival se ve mas afectado, Jamaica se queda prácticamente sin medio equipo y Estados Unidos sin Christian Pulisic del Chelsea, entre varios futbolistas más.
En Conmebol también es un problema, sobre todo para la selección brasileña que se pierde a figuras como Allison Becker, Roberto Firmino y Gabriel Jesus, entre varios más.
Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Chile y Ecuador también pierden importantes figuras, aunque no todo está definido, una cosa es lo que la Premier Legue quiera y otra muy diferente lo que la FIFA determine, hasta el momento no hay un pronunciamiento oficial de la oficina de Gianni Infantino, pero lo habrá.

Sin embargo los Blues se impusieron en dramática tanda de penales por marcador de 6-5 confirmando que si no hay sufrimiento, no le saben los títulos al Chelsea.

Si bien no inició como titular, no tardó mucho tiempo en ingresar al campo y antes de finalizar la primera mitad el estadounidense ya estaba en el terreno de juego.
Tuvo algunas oportunidades para darle el triunfo al Chelsea pero no fue posible sin embargo jugó bastante bien y en la tanda de penales no falló su disparo.

What a moment.
Christian Pulisic became the first American-born man to feature in — and then win — a Champions League final on Saturday.
Born and primarily raised in Hershey, Pa., the 22-year-old Pulisic came on in the 66th minute of Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Manchester City. He had a great scoring chance but slipped a shot wide. Still, Chelsea held on against a fevered attack.
As the final whistle blew, Pulisic fell to his knees in celebration. The United States soccer prodigy has struggled through injury this season and was considered by some a disappointment in his second year with the London-based club.
Yet he fought through. Here’s the moment he realized his team had won:

It really is an astonishing feat. As somebody who grew up not far from Hershey, Pa., traveling to some of the same fields (often alongside Amish buggies) where Pulisic played, I can say this: It’s a long, long, long way from the Champions League.
Pulisic’s father, Mark, played professional indoor soccer in Harrisburg and later coached the Harrisburg City Islanders, who played their home matches, yes, on an island in the middle of the Susquehanna River. Pulisic himself would eventually train with the squad.
It’s not exactly a well-worn path to the pinnacle of the sport.

Jovan Kirovski was technically the first American to win a Champions League title, as he was on the Borussia Dortmund team that won in 1997, but he did not appear in the final.
Considering that the USMNT’s top goalkeeper, Zack Steffen was also involved in this game (as Manchester City’s backup), there’s certainly reason for optimism about American soccer moving forward.

Las semifinales de la Champions League comenzaron de no muy buena forma para el Real Madrid que no pudo con el Chelsea y rescató un empate en casa dejando todo cuesta arriba para la vuelta.
El equipo de Zinedine Zidane tiene muchas bajas, la más sensible la de su capitán Sergio Ramos quien sigue recuperándose de una operación de menisco pero sumada a la de Lucas Vázquez, la defensa merengue quedó muy parchada, algo que supo aprovechar el Chelsea.
Los de Londres se fueron al frente en el marcador muy temprano en el partido con gol del estadounidense Christian Pulisic, pero la reacción local vino casi enseguida a los pocos minutos cuando Benzemá aprovechó una pelota en el área y definió de forma espectacular.

Ahora el Real Madrid tiene que visitar al Chelsea y conseguir la victoria o un empate por más de un gol si quiere avanzar de manera directa a la final de Estambul. Se ve complicado pero recordemos que los merengues son los reyes de la Champions League y de peores escenarios se han levantado.
Mucho trabajo para Zidane para lograr recuperar jugadores o mejorar el funcionamiento de los que hoy tiene disponibles, pues plantel hay de sobra lo que faltan son ideas.

Tres futbolistas estadounidenses siguen con vida en las semifinales de los torneos de clubes de UEFA, ningún mexicano saldrá campeón
Con la eliminación del Ajax en la Europa League a manos de la Roma, la delegación mexicana en el Viejo Continente se quedó sin representación en las semifinales tanto de Europa, como de Champions League.
El Ajax lo intentó, el partido fue muy emotivo, pero no le alcanzó para conseguir un gol más que lo hubiera mantenido en el torneo. El mexicano Edson Álvarez arrancó como titular y salió de cambio.
El otro mexicano que llegó a esta instancia con vida, era Jesús Tecatito Corona con el Porto, pero perdieron ante el Chelsea y ni en uno ni en otro torneo, habrá representación azteca.
Pero no así para Estados Unidos, pues tres equipos de los ocho que aún siguen con vida en los torneos de clubes de la UEFA, tienen un jugador estadounidense en sus filas.
Dos en Champions League, el más destacado Christian Pulisic, extremo del Chelsea valuado en 50 millones de euros. Número 10 de los blues y un indiscutible en el esquema de Tuchel.
Zack Steffen es el portero suplente del Manchester City, otro estadounidense cuyo equipo sigue con vida en Champions League, tiene 26 años y está valuado en seis millones de euros, nada mal.
Finalmente Bryan Reynolds, lateral derecho que actualmente se encuentra prestado en la AS Roma por parte del FC Dallas. aunque suma muy pocos minutos, con solo un partido jugado en la temporada para el defensor de 19 años de edad valorado en seis millones de euros.

Christian Pulisic, Weston McKennie and Sergiño Dest headline the USMNT’s strong core of U-23 players.
After losing 2-1 to Honduras on Sunday, U.S. Soccer’s under-23 men’s team failed to qualify for the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan (the women’s team qualified last year).
Unlike the women’s game, the men’s Olympic tournament is an under-23 competition (technically under-24 this time after the Olympics were postponed one year due COVID-19). Because the men’s competition is considered a youth tournament, FIFA does not require clubs to release their players for international duty (for qualifying or the tournament).
For that reason, many of the best U-23 players in the world don’t participate in the Olympics and many countries don’t take soccer seriously at the tournament. It’s not anything close to the World Cup.
Americans love the Olympics, though, and we gather together every four years to watch sports we otherwise don’t care about. Evan casual American sports fans would have tuned in if the USA’s U-23 soccer team reached the semifinal or final at the Olympics — it’s another chance to win gold!
The USMNT won’t get a chance to grow its popularity during the Olympics this summer after they failed to qualify, but they could still build a strong U-23 roster for the Concacaf Nations League in June or the Gold Cup in July.
U.S. Soccer won’t be limited to 18-player rosters this summer, but I capped it at that just to demonstrate the Olympic-eligible core the USMNT has (teams can also bring three overage players to the Olympics). This squad won’t play in Tokyo, but they represent a promising future for the national team.
