Tennessee practiced for a tenth time during fall training camp on Monday.

Following practice, Tennessee secondary coach Willie Martinez met with media. He discussed the Vols’ competition at the star position ahead of the upcoming season.

Christian Harrison and Boo Carter are taking the bulk of the reps,” Martinez said. “We know in the back of our minds that we have others who have played the position whether it’s Will Brooks or Andre Turrentine, we have the versatility. The two guys that are competing are Christian and Boo. They’re doing a really good job.”

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Carter enters his first season with the Vols as a freshman in 2024.

Harrison appeared in 13 games from 2022-23 at Tennessee, recording 11 tackles and 0.5 tackle for a loss.

Countdown to the 2023 season: 29 days until it is football time in Tennessee

Tennessee will kick off its 2023 football season in 29 days.

Sophomore defensive back Christian Harrison wears jersey No. 29 for the Vols. He enters his second season at Tennessee.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Harrison has appeared in eight games for the Vols, recording nine tackles and 0.5 tackles for a loss.

He came to Tennessee from Woodward Academy in College Park, Georgia.

Harrison earned 2022 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll honors.

The Vols will kick off its 2023 season Sept. 2 versus Virginia at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. Kickoff is slated for noon EDT and ABC will televise the contest.

Tennessee’s home schedule has contests against Austin Peay, UTSA, South Carolina, Texas A&M, UConn, Georgia and Vanderbilt.

The Vols’ road schedule features games at Alabama, Florida,Kentucky and Missouri.

The 2023 season will be Tennessee’s third under head coach Josh Heupel.

Christian Harrison has signed with Tennessee.

The 2022 football signing period is the first full class under head coach Josh Heupel.

The Vols were 7-5 (4-4 SEC) in 2021 under Heupel. Tennessee will play in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl against Purdue on Dec. 30 (3 p.m. EST, ESPN).

2022 prospect Christian Harrison commits to Tennessee.

First-year head coach Josh Heupel and his Tennessee staff continue to recruit future Vols.

2022 cornerback prospect Christian Harrison announced his commitment to Tennessee on Monday. The Vols offered Harrison on Oct. 13. He unofficially visited Tennessee on Oct. 9.

The 6-foot, 183-pound cornerback is from Woodward Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. He is the son of former NFL safety Rodney Harrison.

The football early signing period takes place Dec. 15-17 for the 2022 recruiting class.
