UCLA edge target Chinedu Onyeagoro no longer visiting Washington

One less in the race…

The Bruins football team got some promising news this week. After being listed as a finalist for 2024 four-star edge rusher Chinedu Onyeagoro, one of his finalists lost an official visit.

Onyeagoro, from the King Drew Medical Magnet High School in Los Angeles, California, listed UCLA as one of his top schools, along with Washington, Georgia, Florida, Miami (FL), Arizona, Arizona State, Clemson, Northwestern, and SMU. But this week, Onyeagoro said that he will no longer visit Washington officially.

Washington and UCLA have been in several key recruiting battles since the turn of the new year and with Onyeagoro retracting his official visit, the Bruins now have one fewer team to beat out.

Though it is not a guarantee that Onyeagoro will commit to UCLA, it does show that Washington has far sway following the departure of head coach Kalen DeBoer. The only California school left in his finalists, the Bruins have home-field advantage in the recruiting battle as more and more commitments pile up for UCLA.

Clemson offers 4-star edge rusher Chinedu Onyeagoro

A 4-star edge rusher in the 2025 class is on the Tigers’ radar.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson football program are among the hottest teams recruiting in the 2025 class, with the Tigers offering another huge recruit in the class.

Four-star edge rusher Chinedu Onyeagoro, out of King Drew Magnet High School (Los Angeles, Calif.), took to social media Tuesday to announce that Clemson has offered him a scholarship. The Tigers look to continue to bolster their electric defensive line and pass rush with another member in the 2025 class.

According to 247Sports site rankings, Onyeagoro currently ranks as the No. 23 edge and the No. 243 overall recruit in the class. Onyeagoro didn’t start playing football until his sophomore year, and he primarily played basketball throughout his life. A transition that is not uncommon for some athletes.
