Former Bucs DE Chidi Ahanotu says he got punched in face by NFL executive at Super Bowl

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Chidi Ahanotu says he was punched in the face by another former Buc at the Super Bowl

Well, this is a strange one.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers aren’t playing in the Super Bowl this year, but they’re still managing to make some news in Arizona, courtesy of a couple of former players, and not for the best reasons.

Former Bucs defensive end Chidi Ahanotu tweeted out a picture early Sunday morning of what appears to be some bloody paper towels on a bathroom counter, claiming that former Bucs offensive tackle (and current NFL VP of Football Development) Roman Oben punched him in the face.

Ahanotu says he slapped Oben in return, after strong words were apparently exchanged (Warning: Tweet contains profanity):

Ahanotu played for the Bucs from 1993 through 2000, and then again in 2004. Oben played two seasons in Tampa Bay while Ahanotu was playing elsewhere, including the team’s first Super Bowl campaign in 2002.

Here’s a more detailed account of what happened, according to Ahanotu:
