Matt Nagy: Andy Dalton is Bears’ starting QB over Justin Fields when healthy

Matt Nagy: Andy Dalton is #Bears’ starting QB over Justin Fields when healthy:

Following a 24-14 win over the Detroit Lions, a game which saw rookie quarterback Justin Fields improve from his last outing, Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy said his team is not altering their plans.

Fields was 11-for-17 passing for 209 yards in the victory, but on Monday, Nagy said that once Andy Dalton is healthy, he’s going back in there. Dalton has missed time due to a knee injury.

“When Andy’s health, he’s our starter,” Nagy said per Bears Wire. “Justin’s the two, Nick’s the three.”

Nick Foles is the referenced No. 3 quarterback on the Bears’ depth chart.

However, it still remains to be seen if the Bears even have to cross that bridge this week. Nagy added that “the next two days are going to tell us a lot” when discussing Dalton’s current status.

Nagy’s next update will come Wednesday, but many in Chicago are already calling the decision the wrong one.

After the win against the Lions, the desire for Bears fans is to see the young QB get the reigns going forward.

Unless something changes in Nagy’s mind in the coming days, we know where he stands.

The coach did mention he’s happy with the growth he’s seen in Fields, at least.

“What’s been great about these last couple weeks is Justin’s had the opportunity to play and get significant snaps and he’s grown from it,” Nagy said. “Now we just gotta see, where’s Andy’s health at?”

Who will be on the calls for NBC’s NFL doubleheader Nov. 29?

Al Michaels will be on play-by-play Nov. 29 in the afternoon as NBC is on the Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers game

Al Michaels was scheduled to have the week off for Thanksgiving. However, COVID-19 got in the way of the Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers’ scheduled Thursday game and the NFL shifted it to Sunday.

That means the legendary voice will be busy in the afternoon as he calls the AFC North clash. This one has a 1:15 ET kickoff.

In the evening, NBC will have Kathryn Tappen make her NFL debut for the network as sideline reporter when the Chicago Bears play the Green Bay Packers in an NFC North clash.
