Best bets: 2023 Chicago White Sox World Series odds, win total and more

Analyzing the 2023 Chicago White Sox World Series odds, futures and projected win total with expert MLB picks and predictions.

After a disastrous season under Tony LaRussa, the Chicago White Sox have turned to Pedro Grifol to manage their turnaround.

The White Sox didn’t make many signings this offseason, but did find their new left fielder in Andrew Benintendi, who signed for 5 years and $75 million They also got a rotational arm in RHP Mike Clevinger, who signed a 1-year deal, although his status remains up in the air due to off-field issues.

The White Sox went 81-81 in 2022 and finished in 2nd place in the AL Central, 11 games behind the Cleveland Guardians. If Chicago wants to take control of the division, it will need to do so with offense as the Guardians and Twins look to reload in 2023.

Let’s analyze the Chicago White Sox’s World Series odds, along with their projected win total, playoff, division and AL odds as we make our expert MLB picks and predictions.

Chicago White Sox World Series odds

Odds: +3000 (bet $100 to win $3000)

At +3000, the Chicago White Sox are tied for 6th in the AL for World Series odds with their division rival Cleveland and 12th overall. They are behind the overall favorite Houston Astros +600, the New York Yankees +750, the Toronto Blue Jays +900, the Seattle Mariners +1500,  and the Tampa Bay Rays +2000.

It will be difficult for the White Sox to get to the World Series in such a loaded AL. But if they are able to win the AL Central, they could gain needed momentum, and +3000 are not bad odds. While it isn’t a strong play, it could be a play worth risking a few dollars on.

Chicago White Sox playoff odds

Will they make the playoffs: Yes +125 | No -150

With such a strong league, it is difficult to see the White Sox making a playoff push in 2023. With Cleveland still ahead of them in the division and 3 AL East teams all looking to make moves, there is not much room for Chicago in the mix.

With Houston all but being given the AL West, the White Sox will also need to compete with a talented Mariners team if it hopes to finally break into the Wild-Card chase in September. The White Sox -150 to miss the playoffs is the only way to play this if you are looking for a small number which still offers excellent value.

Chicago White Sox win total

Over/Under: 83.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

With LaRussa in charge in 2022, the White Sox were able to compile 81 wins. Minimal offseason moves shows the confidence management has in the roster along with new manager Grifol.

Although Kansas City and Detroit look ready to struggle in 2023, the ascension of Minnesota and the continued play of Cleveland could be too much for Chicago to handle if it hopes to raise its level from 2022.

Offense should not be an issue for the White Sox. But if the pitching does not improve, the White Sox will be going down in the standings instead of up. This will be a close call one way or the other, but the Over 83.5 looks to be the way to go for this Chicago team.

To win AL Central Division

  • Cleveland Guardians +135 (bet $100 to win $135)
  • Chicago White Sox +170 (bet $100 to win $170)
  • Minnesota Twins +230 (bet $100 to win $230)
  • Detroit Tigers +2000 (bet $100 to win $2000)
  • Kansas City Royals +4000 (bet $100 to win $4000)

This division is closely bunched at the top with  not much separation between the favorites. Chicago is squarely in the mix and with the odds being where they are at +170, a small wager is not a bad bet.

To win American League

Odds: +1300 (bet $100 to win $1300)

The White Sox might be a viable bet to win the AL in 2023, but is it worth it to make this wager?

Cleveland looks to be better positioned to win the division. This means Chicago will need to go the Wild-Card route. Philadelphia was able to do in the NL in 2022, but with a loaded AL it will be difficult.

If Clevinger remains on the roster and right-handers Lance Lynn and No. 1 starter Dylan Cease can provide innings, the pitching could match the offense and Chicago has a chance to make the playoffs where anything can happen.

So +1300 is a solid number for this team and a small wager is worth a look heading into the season.

2022 Chicago White Sox World Series, win total, pennant and division odds

Looking at the 2022 MLB futures for the Chicago White Sox, including odds for the World Series, pennant, division and projected win total.

After a 93-win season in 2021, the Chicago White Sox hope to take the next step and make regular-season success turn into postseason wins. They easily won the AL Central last year, winning the division for the first time since 2008. However, rolling through the division and the regular season, the postseason ended quickly as they were bounced in the playoffs in four games by the Houston Astros.

They also had a relatively quiet offseason. They added right-handed relievers Kendall Graveman and Joe Kelly. They brought back reliever Craig Kimbrel and re-signed 2B Leury Garcia. 2B Cesar Hernandez and P Carlos Rodon departed in free agency.

They hope by returning a top-five offense and pitching staff, and reinforcing the bullpen, they can make a deep run in 2022. Below, we look at the White Sox’ MLB futures odds, including their projected 2022 win total and World Series odds at Tipico Sportsbook.

Chicago White Sox’s 2022 World Series odds

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday, March 30 at 7:45 a.m. ET.

Odds: +1200 (bet $100 to win $1200)

The White Sox are tied with three other teams with the fourth-shortest odds in the majors to win the championship in 2022. The Los Angeles Dodgers (+480) are the favorites followed by the Houston Astros (+900) and Toronto Blue Jays (+900). Chicago is not a favorite but is clearly among the contenders.

The Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh, both at +30000, have the longest odds in the majors to win the World Series.

At +1200, Chicago has an implied probability of winning the World Series of 7.69% or 12/1 fractional odds.

As they should be able to roll through their division and into the postseason and as they have one of the most complete rosters in the entire league, wagering something on the WHITE SOX (+1200) is worth a little action. They are talented enough to win it all and have long enough odds to give you nice payout.

Chicago White Sox’s 2022 playoff odds

Will White Sox make the playoffs: Yes -400 | No +300

The White Six won the AL Central by 13 games last season. They are by far the best team in the division still. Their offense was one of the best in the league and they return basically their whole lineup. They have a strong starting staff and bolstered the bullpen in the offseason.

No other team in the division is projected to even finish the season at .500, so they are as close to a lock for the playoffs as there is in the league.

However, at -400, this normally isn’t a price worth wagering. PASS.

Chicago White Sox’s 2022 win total

Over/Under: 91.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

They finished with 93 regular-season wins in 2021. That will be hard to top, but they managed to do that while their pricey ace Dallas Keuchel only won nine games and posted an ERA of 5.28, the highest of his career. He had an ERA of 1.99 in 2020, and before last season, had not posted an ERA higher than 3.75 since 2016.

They posted 52 wins at home in 2021. Every division winner in the AL posted at least 50 home victories. But the White Sox were the only division winner in the majors to post a losing record on the road. If they can repeat a 50-win record at home and simply finish 42-39 on the road, they will hit the Over.

Take OVER 91.5 (-110).

Odds to win AL Central Division

  • Chicago White Sox -220 (bet $220 to win $100)
  • Detroit Tigers +600 (bet $100 to win $600)
  • Minnesota Twins +600 (bet $100 to win $600)
  • Cleveland Guardians +1000 (bet $100 to win $1000)
  • Kansas City Royals +1500 (bet $100 to win $1500)

Chicago’s implied odds of winning the division is 68.75% or 5/11 fractional odds. No other team is projected to even reach .500 other than the White Sox. They will have to screw up big to lose this division.

It is almost a sure win, but just outside of the price range you want to wager a favorite to win the division. PASS.

Odds to win American League

Odds: +550 (bet $100 to win $550)

With an easy path to the postseason, they will have to fabricate intensity to prepare for the postseason. That said, they should have a top-five offense and should have a top-five pitching staff, making them arguably the most complete team in the league. Only the Astros (+425) and Blue Jays (+425) have shorter odds. They are not the favorite but have the talent to do it, so it is worth it to BET WHITE SOX (+550).
