Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

After Monday’s scheduled opener was postponed due to rain, the Minnesota Twins (33-43) open a three-game road series against the AL Central-leading Chicago White Sox (45-32) Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET at Guaranteed Rate Field. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Twins vs. White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Kenta Maeda is the projected starting pitcher for the Twins. He is 3-2 with a 4.85 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 8.7 K/9 and 2.6 BB/9 through 52 IP over 11 starts.

This will be his second start of the year against Chicago. In his first start, he went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks in a 9-3 Twins loss. He took a no-decision.

RHP Lucas Giolito is the projected starting pitcher for the White Sox. He is 5-5 with a 3.80 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 11.3 K/9 and 3.0 BB/9 over 87 2/3 IP spanning 15 starts.

He started against the Twins May 19 and went 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, and striking out 11 while walking 3 in a 2-1 win.

  • Money line: Twins +105 (bet $100 to win $105) | White Sox -130 (bet $130 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Twins +1.5 (-185) | White Sox -1.5 (+150)
  • Over/Under: 8.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

White Sox 7, Twins 4

Money line (ML)

The Twins have won seven of their last nine games and each of their last four on the road. However, on the season, they are only 16-20 on the road. They are 1-5 against the White Sox this season and 0-3 in Chicago.

The White Sox lost seven of their last nine games. At 28-14 at home, they have more home wins than any team in the majors except the San Diego Padres.

Take the WHITE SOX (-130).

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

At 35.5%, the Twins have the lowest cover percentage in all of baseball and it is only slightly better on the road at 41.7%. They are 6-6 ATS in their last 12 games but only 1-3 ATS in their last four.

The White Sox are 40-37 ATS on the year and 23-19 ATS at home. They covered the spread in only one of their last 10 games but are 4-2 ATS against the Twins.

Take the WHITE SOX -1.5 (+150).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Twins have the league’s highest Over percentage at 65.8%. Three of their last five games and six of their last 10 went Over the projected total.

However, only 37.5% of the games at Guaranteed Rate Field this season have hit the Over. Seven of the last 10 games for the Sox went Over the projected total.

Four of the six games between the two teams this season went Over.

Take OVER 8.5 (-110).

Seattle Mariners at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Seattle Mariners at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (44-30) host the Seattle Mariners (39-37) for a three-game set starting Friday at 8:10 p.m. ET on Guaranteed Rate Field. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Mariners vs. White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Seattle had its five-game winning streak snapped with a 5-2 loss Wednesday vs. the Colorado Rockies, but the Mariners have won eight of their last 10 games.

Chicago broke its five-game road losing skid by beating the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3 Wednesday and has won just four of the last 10 games.

Season series: White Sox lead 2-1.

LHP Yusei Kikuchi makes his 14th start for the Mariners. Kikuchi is 4-3 with a 3.46 ERA (80 2/3 IP, 31 ER), 1.04 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 9.0 K/9 this year.

  • Last outing: Win, 5-1, with 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 3 BB and 6 K vs. the Tampa Bay Rays June 18.
  • vs. White Sox on the current roster: 39 at-bats with a .487/.500/.923 slash line, 4/1 K/BB, 3 HR and 12 RBIs.

LHP Carlos Rodon is on the hill for the White Sox. Rodon is 6-2 with a 1.83 ERA (73 2/3 IP, 15 ER), 0.84 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9 and 12.8 K/9 over 12 starts.

  • Last outing: No-decision with 7 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 BB and 8 K in Chicago’s 2-1 loss at the Houston Astros June 18.
  • vs. Mariners on the current roster: 23 at-bats with a .174/.321/.626 slash line, 11/4 K/BB, 0 HR and 0 RBI.

Mariners at White Sox odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 6:54 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Mariners +165 (bet $100 to win $165) | White Sox -200 (bet $200 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Mariners +1.5 (-125) | White Sox -1.5 (+105)
  • Over/Under: 7.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

White Sox 6, Mariners 3

Money line (ML)

PASS despite my expectation that Chicago wins because the White Sox (-200) are a little more than I’m willing to pay against a Mariners team that has been on a roll lately whose starter has pitched a quality start in seven of his last eight outings.

Also, a vast majority of the market is backing the White Sox in this spot and I’m always leery about following a crowd of people in sports gambling.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

BET the WHITE SOX -0.5 (-125) FIRST 5 INNINGS for 1 unit since they are lethal at home (27-12) and against left-handed starters (18-6) and Chicago has a decisive edge in the starting pitching matchup.

For instance, Rodon has a 1.56 FIP, .288 expected opponent’s wOBA, .313 expected slugging percentage, an 85.9 mph exit velocity and a 39.3% strikeout rate vs. current Mariners hitters (28 plate appearances).

While Kikuchi has a 6.73 FIP, .555 expected opponent’s wOBA, .707 expected slugging percentage, an 89.9 exit velocity and 12.9% strikeout rate against active White Sox batters (31 plate appearances).

The reason behind betting Chicago’s First 5 Innings run line is Seattle has been feisty of late, was underrated entering the season and could make this a sweat for the White Sox in the late innings.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the UNDER 7.5 (-110) for a half unit because the White Sox have scored more than four runs once in their last 10 games and these teams have a combined 9-16 O/U record when these starters are on the mound.

Chicago White Sox at Pittsburgh Pirates odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Chicago White Sox at Pittsburgh Pirates odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (43-29) and Pittsburgh Pirates (25-45) open a two-game series Tuesday with a 7:05 p.m. ET first pitch at PNC Park. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Pirates odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Lucas Giolito is the projected starting pitcher for the White Sox. He is 5-5 with a 3.86 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 11.4 K/9 and 3.0 BB/9 in 81 2/3 IP over 14 starts.

Giolito has worked at least 6 IP in each of his last seven starts, a span in which he has put up a 3.33 ERA with 60 K in 46 IP.

LHP Tyler Anderson is the projected starting pitcher for the Pirates. He is 3-7 with a 4.89 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 7.9 K/9 and 2.4 BB/9 in 73 2/3 IP over 13 starts.

Anderson served up 5 ER in the first inning last time out, on his way to a 6 IP, 6 ER effort in Washington. It was his second rough outing in his last five tries, pushing his ERA up to 7.24 in 27 1/3 IP over the past month.

White Sox at Pirates odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 7:51 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: White Sox -165 (bet $165 to win $100) | Pirates +140 (bet $100 to win $140)
  • Against the spread/ATS: White Sox -1.5 (+100) | Pirates +1.5 (-120)
  • Over/Under: 7.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

White Sox 5, Pirates 2

Money line (ML)

The Pirates have lost 11 of their last 13 games, and Anderson, who has been pretty inconsistent lately, is facing an offense that ranks 2nd in wRC+ vs. left-handed pitching. Look for the WHITE SOX (-165) to come out on top in this one.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The White Sox are fourth in the league in runs per game on the road, and they’re facing a lefty with mediocre skills. Meanwhile. Giolito has been rolling, and his home run issues shouldn’t be too much of a concern against an offense with the lowest ISO and fewest home runs vs. RHP.

The WHITE SOX -1.5 (+100) should win by more than one run and have a chance to blow this one open. An alternate line of -2.5 (+155) offers some appeal as well.

Over/Under (O/U)

Giolito should do his part in keeping the Pirates from doing much damage in this contest. However, the White Sox are going to put some runs on the board and it’s not out of the question that they surpass this total by themselves. This looks like a total to PASS on.

Chicago White Sox at Houston Astros odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Chicago White Sox at Houston Astros and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (43-27) meet the Houston Astros (41-28) Saturday for the third game of their four-game series at Minute Maid Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Astros odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Houston beat Chicago 2-1 Friday thanks to a DH Yordan Álvarez walk-off double that scored 1B Yuli Gurriel to conclude what was an awesome pitching duel.

Season series: Astros lead 2-0.

RHP Lance Lynn is on the hill for the White Sox. Lynn is 7-2 with a 1.51 ERA (71 2/3 IP, 12 ER), 0.94 WHIP, 2.5 BB/9 and 10.0 K/9 across 12 starts.

  • Last outing: Loss, 5-2, with 6 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 3 BB and 8 K Monday vs. the Tampa Bay Rays.
  • vs. Astros on the current roster: 157 at-bats with a .312/.365/.554 slash line, 43/12 K/BB, 10 HR and 24 RBIs.

LHP Framber Valdez makes his fifth start for the Astros. Valdez is 3-0 with a 1.42 ERA (25 1/3 IP, 4 ER), 0.95 WHIP, 2.5 BB/9 and 8.5 K/9 this year.

  • Last outing: Win, 14-3, with 7 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 3 BB and 2 K Sunday at the Minnesota Twins.
  • No career starts vs. the White Sox.

BetMGM Sportsbook offers available in CO, IA, IN, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA, WV and Washington D.C. New customer offers, terms and conditions apply.

White Sox at Astros odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 11:58 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: White Sox +110 (bet $100 to win $110) | Astros -135 (bet $135 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: White Sox +1.5 (-190) | Astros -1.5 (+155)
  • Over/Under: 7.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

Astros 3, White Sox 2

Money line (ML)

The ASTROS (-130) FIRST 5 INNINGS for a three-fourths unit is the play – even though the White Sox have an 18-4 record when facing a lefty starter –  because Valdez has been stellar vs. righties this year.

Throughout his career, Valdez’s handedness splits are fairly similar against both righties and lefties but this season he’s actually been more effective vs. right-handed-hitting than lefties.

Granted it’s a small sample size since he’s only made four starts this season; however, righties’ slash line vs. Valdez is .179/.256/.256 through 78 at-bats and the White Sox have six right-handed hitters and three switch-hitters in their projected lineup.

Also, the White Sox have been mediocre on the road this season with just a 16-15 record away from Chicago and have lost eight of their last nine road games against teams with a winning record.

The reason for BETTING the ASTROS (-130) FIRST 5 INNINGS instead of their full game money line is because Houston’s bullpen has a 14-15 record with 12 blown saves (eighth in the majors) and is 25th in WAR.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Since Houston’s bullpen is unreliable and Lynn is leading the American League in ERA (among qualified starters), I don’t see the value in either Astros -1.5 (+155) for the full game or Astros -0.5 (+110) First 5 Innings. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the UNDER 7.5 (-105) for a half unit only, since I prefer the Houston outright more than the total in White Sox-Astros.

That being said, both starters have been dominant so far this season and the presumed “sharp” money is on the Under whereas there are more bets placed on the Over (according to Pregame.com).

Since I prefer to play sides more than totals, I typically will lean on the betting splits when handicapping the total unless otherwise noted.

Chicago White Sox at Houston Astros odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Chicago White Sox at Houston Astros and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Houston Astros (39-28) host the Chicago White Sox (43-25) for the first of a four-game series at Minute Maid Park Thursday. Game 1’s first pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Astros odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: 0-0.

RHP Dylan Cease makes his 14th start for the White Sox. Cease is 5-2 with a 3.38 ERA (66 2/3 IP, 25 ER), 1.28 WHIP, 3.9 BB/9 and 11.5 K/9 this year.

  • Last outing: Win, 15-2, with 5 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 1 BB and 7 K Saturday at the Detroit Tigers.
  • vs. Astros on the current roster: 16 at-bats with a .250/.429/.500 slash line, 3/5 K/BB, 1 HR and 1 RBI.

RHP Jose Urquidy takes the mound for the Astros. Urquidy is 4-3 with a 3.77 ERA (62 IP, 26 ER), 1.03 WHIP, 1.6 BB/9 and 8.0 K/9 over 11 starts.

  • Last outing: No-decision with 7 IP, 2 ER, 7 H, 1 BB and 7 K in Houston’s 6-4 win at the Minnesota Twins Friday.
  • No career appearances vs. White Sox.

MLB betting offers/promotions

BetMGM Sportsbook offers available in CO, IA, IN, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA, WV and Washington D.C. New customer offers, terms and conditions apply.

White Sox at Astros odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 12:45 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: White Sox +105 (bet $100 to win $105) | Astros -130 (bet $130 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: White Sox +1.5 (-185) | Astros -1.5 (+150)
  • Over/Under: 9 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Prediction

Astros 5, White Sox 3

Money line (ML)

GIMME the ASTROS (-125) FIRST 5 INNINGS for 1 unit since they have a decisive edge in the starting pitching matchup, but I want to avoid the full game money line because Houston’s bullpen is 27th in WAR.

For instance, Cease has been far less effective on the road and against teams with a winning record; whereas Urquidy pitches well at home, and his numbers don’t dip vs. winning teams.

Cease is undefeated at home (3-0) with a 1.63 home ERA and 1.06 home WHIP but is 2-2 on the road with a 5.79 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP.

Furthermore, Cease is 4-0 against teams below .500 with a 2.23 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP compared to a 1-2 record vs. teams above .500 with a 6.38 ERA and 1.69 WHIP.

On the other side, Urquidy is 3-1 at home with a 2.83 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 12.0 K/BB rate vs. a 1-2 record on the road with a 4.59 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 3.4 K/BB rate.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

PASS with a slight “lean” to the Astros -1.5 (+150) because I love the price point here. However, Houston’s bullpen is just too unreliable, and Chicago’s lineup is too deadly.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight “LEAN” to the UNDER 9 (-120) for a half unit because that’s where the presumed “sharp” side of the market is betting.

According to Pregame.com, more than 85% of the money wagered is on the Under; whereas a slight majority of the bets placed are on the Over, and typically, it’s wiser to follow the money in sports betting when it’s going in the opposite direction as the public.

Tampa Bay Rays at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Tampa Bay Rays at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Rays (43-25) and Chicago White Sox (42-25) close out a three-game series Wednesday. First pitch will be at 2:10 p.m. ET at Guaranteed Rate Field. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rays vs. White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

LHP Ryan Yarbrough is the projected starting pitcher for the Rays. He is 4-3 with a 3.63 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 7.4 K/9 and 1.5 BB/9 through 72 IP spanning 9 starts and 4 relief appearances.

The Rays lefty has posted three straight quality starts away from home. Since 2019, he has registered a 3.38 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in road games.

RHP Lucas Giolito is the projected starter for the White Sox. He is 5-5 with a 3.81 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 11.4 K/9 and 3.0 BB/9 in 75 2/3 IP over 13 starts.

The White Sox right-hander has gone 6-plus innings in 6 straight starts. He owns a 3.15 ERA over that stretch. He has registered a 3.20 ERA at home.

Rays at White Sox odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 11:20 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Rays +110 (bet $100 to win $110) | White Sox -135 (bet $135 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Rays +1.5 (-165) | White Sox -1.5 (+140)
  • Over/Under: 7.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

White Sox 4, Rays 3

Money line (ML)

Tampa Bay won Monday’s series opener and snapped a 4-game Chicago win streak. The White Sox returned the favor Tuesday and ended a 4-game streak for the Rays. Both clubs are in first place in their respective divisions.

The Rays offense has slumped over recent weeks, posting a .666 OPS since May 25. The Sox have closed out five of their last six home series with wins and are at their best against lefty pitching with an MLB-best .810 OPS.

BACK THE WHITE SOX (-135).

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

PASS on the run line. The low total (and a lean on the Under) make for little operating room.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Under is 3-0-1 the last 4 meetings between these two clubs. UNDER 7.5 (-105) is the slight lean for Wednesday. Respect the pitching and defense on a cool and dry get-away day game.

Tampa Bay Rays at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Tampa Bay Rays at Chicago White Sox and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Rays (43-24) meet the Chicago White Sox (41-25) for the second game of their three-game set Tuesday at Guaranteed Rate Field. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rays vs. White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Tampa starting RHP Tyler Glasnow turned the series opener over to his bullpen in the fifth inning and the Rays relievers pitched five scoreless frames in Tampa’s 5-2 victory over Chicago Monday.

Season series: Rays lead 1-0.

LHP Shane McClanahan is on the rubber for the Rays. McClanahan is 2-1 with a 4.54 ERA (33 2/3 IP, 17 ER), 1.37 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9 and 11.2 K/9 across 8 starts.

  • Last outing: Win, 5-2, with 6 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 2 BB and 8 K Thursday vs. the Toronto Blue Jays.

Rays at White Sox odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 12:03 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Rays -105 (bet $105 to win $100) | White Sox -115 (bet $115 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Rays -1.5 (+155) | White Sox +1.5 (-190)
  • Over/Under: 8 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

Rays 6, White Sox 3

Money line (ML)

GIMME the RAYS (+100) FIRST 5 INNINGS for 1 unit because I favor Tampa in the starting pitching matchup and the Rays have the best road record in the majors (24-10) with the highest margin of victory on the road.

Chicago’s projected starting lineup has six right-handed hitters and three switch-hitters who’ll bat righty since McClanahan is a lefty. However, McClanahan actually pitches better vs. righties than lefties.

In fact, McClanahan has a .317 opponent’s wOBA, 32.9% hard-hit rate and 21.7% K-BB% against right-handed hitters compared to a .435 opponent’s wOBA, 50.0% hard-hit rate and 18.5% K-BB% vs. lefties.

Furthermore, McClanahan is a highly-touted prospect from a Rays organization that’s known for developing talent.

For instance, McClanahan is Tampa Bay’s ninth-ranked prospect, a 2018 first-round draft pick and grades in the 79th percentile in K%, 82nd percentile in chase rate, and 96th percentile in whiff rate.

Also, Keuchel’s advanced pitching numbers vs. current Tampa hitters are subpar. Keuchel has a 4.69 FIP, .395 expected opponent’s wOBA, .560 expected slugging percentage and a 91.4 mph exit velocity in 44 plate appearances against Rays on the current roster.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

PASS since I don’t like Tampa Bay enough to take Rays -1.5 (+155) despite that being a really chunky payout.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the OVER 4 (-135) FIRST 5 INNINGS for a half unit because the Rays have a 22-10-2 O/U record on the road this season and, despite taking a flyer on McClanahan in this outing, the White Sox’s lineup is the best vs. left-handed pitching across most advanced hitting categories.

The reason for backing the OVER 4 (-135) FIRST 5 INNINGS instead of the full game total is because Chicago’s bullpen has the best WAR in the majors and Tampa’s has the fifth-best.

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (40-24) and Detroit Tigers (26-38) put a lid on a three-game AL Central series Sunday with a 1:10 p.m. ET first pitch at Comerica Park. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Tigers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

LHP Carlos Rodon is the projected starting pitcher for the White Sox. He is 5-2 with a 1.96 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, 13.3 K/9, and 2.3 BB/9 in 59 2/3 IP over 10 starts.

Rodon has held foes to 1 ER or less in eight of his 10 starts this season. That includes an April 29 gem against these Tigers where he went 6 IP allowing 1 ER on 2 H and 1 BB while adding 12 K.

RHP Kyle Funkhouser is the projected starter for the Tigers. He is 0-0 with a 2.70 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 7.6 K/9, and 3.8 BB/9 in 16 2/3 IP over 13 relief appearances.

Sunday’s tilt will mark Funkhouser’s first Major League start, where the righty is slated to be the opener in a bullpen game.

White Sox at Tigers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 11:46 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: White Sox -240 (bet $240 to win $100) | Tigers +195 (bet $100 to win $195)
  • Against the spread/ATS: White Sox -2.5 (+100) | Tigers 2.5 (-120)
  • Over/Under: 9 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

White Sox 7, Tigers 4

Money line (ML)

The Pale Hose have taken the first two games of this series and have won 7 of 9 against Detroit this season.

Chicago is a lean here even with the big tag and Rodon likely being a tad overrated due to his surface ERA being aided by some generous rates around the margins. Prices over (-225) sometimes get artificially deflated because of bettors just not buying into 75% expected-win scenarios in a game with so much random fluctuation.

But the WHITE SOX (-240) against a Tigers club set to use their bad bullpen for the game is a workable play.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The 2-and-a-half-run line is worth a look for bettors who want to assume less risk. Chicago is the much better club all around and is playing good ball.

BACK THE WHITE SOX -2.5 (+100).

Over/Under (O/U)

TAKE OVER 9 (-115). Fading Rodon to a small degree mixes into a shaky plan for the Tigers, a good-hitting White Sox order, and a forecast of an outward-to-center breeze.

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (39-24) and Detroit Tigers (26-37) play the middle game of a three-game AL Central series Saturday with a 4:10 p.m. ET first pitch at Comerica Park. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Tigers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Dylan Cease is the projected starting pitcher for the White Sox. He is 4-2 with a 3.36 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 11.4 K/9, and 4.1 BB/9 in 61 2/3 IP over 12 starts.

Cease is coming off a nice start against these same Tigers (7 scoreless innings, 1 BB, 10K), and he has two scoreless outings against Detroit this season. Cease has two quality starts in his last 3 games.

RHP Jose Urena is the projected starter for the Tigers. He is 2-5 with a 4.25 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, 5.5 K/9, and 3.6 BB/9 in 59 1/3 IP over 11 starts.

Urena is facing Chicago for the second start in a row, and in 12 IP against them this season has fanned just three batters. He only allowed 4 ER over those starts, but he was aided by allowing little damage on balls in play.

White Sox at Tigers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10:16 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: White Sox -180 (bet $180 to win $100) | Tigers +150 (bet $100 to win $150)
  • Against the spread/ATS: White Sox -1.5 (-115) | Tigers +1.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: 9.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

White Sox 5, Tigers 3

Money line (ML)

Chicago is a “lean” in principle on the ML, but any profit potential looks to be drowned out by the juice here. A solid comparative-to-the-market price can be found on the run line.  PASS.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Taking the favorite against the spread in a game with an Under lean takes an attractive price. The tag here fits the bill in a game where the visitors have a solid edge on the mound and in overall quality.

BACK THE WHITE SOX -1.5 (-115).

Over/Under (O/U)

The weather forecast sets this one up as a low-humidity, breeze-in-from-left contest. In a market all over the map on this total, the price here is attractive on the Under.

TAKE UNDER 9.5 (-110).

Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (38-24) and Detroit Tigers (26-36) swing into a three-game AL Central series Friday at 7:10 p.m. ET at Comerica Park. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the White Sox vs. Tigers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Lucas Giolito is the projected starting pitcher for the White Sox. He is 5-5 with a 3.88 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 11.2 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9 in 69 2/3 IP over 12 starts. Giolito is making his second straight start against the Tigers, a club with an .843 OPS against him this season.

LHP Tarik Skubal is the projected starter for the Tigers. He is 3-7 with a 4.33 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 11.3 K/9 and 4.3 BB/9 in 54 IP over 12 appearances, including 10 starts. Skubal is coming off an 11-strikeout performance against these White Sox Saturday. The Bengal southpaw has logged a 3.27 ERA in 44 career innings at Comerica.

White Sox at Tigers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 8:13 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: White Sox -175 (bet $175 to win $100) | Tigers +145 (bet $100 to win $145)
  • Against the spread/ATS: White Sox -1.5 (+100) | Tigers +1.5 (-120)
  • Over/Under: 9 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

White Sox 4, Tigers 3

Money line (ML)

The Pale Hose took 3 of 4 from the Tigers last week and are 10-4 in their last 14 games overall. The Tigers are playing their best ball of the season. They are 7-5 (with a .760 OPS) over their last dozen games.

Detroit is a lean-in-principle on the ML, but any profit potential looks to be drowned out by the juice here. PASS.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Detroit is solid against Giolito’s staple pitch, the change-up, and seeing him twice in a week doesn’t hurt that advantage angle.

The White Sox recent success has been very much earned on home turf. Chicago is just 1-5 over its last five road games and could be caught flat-footed in the opener of a road trip after 14 of its previous 17 games were at home.

BACK THE TIGERS +1.5 (-120) in a contest with some Under tilt.

Over/Under (O/U)

The weather forecast sets this one up as a low-humidity, breeze-in-from-left evening. Peg both starters as better than what’s indicated by their surface ERAs. Chicago has the better bullpen, but Detroit’s relief corps is at its best against right-handed batters and there figures to be a big contingent of righty hitters lined up against Skubal.

TAKE UNDER 9 (-115).
