Chicago Bulls at Charlotte Hornets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Chicago Bulls at Charlotte Hornets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago Bulls (36-40) visit the Charlotte Hornets (26-51) Friday. Tip-off from Spectrum Center is at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Bulls vs. Hornets odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

This is a huge game for the Bulls, who currently sit 10th in the Eastern Conference standings. Chicago is 2 games clear of the 11th-placed Washington Wizards but can’t afford any more slip-ups after dropping its last 2 games. The Bulls lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 121-110 Wednesday as 3.5-point underdogs.

The Hornets are out of playoff contention but they’re playing some quality basketball right now, winning each of their last 3 games outright despite being double-digit underdogs in all 3. Charlotte beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 137-134 Tuesday as a 10-point underdog to improve to 4-1 against the spread (ATS) over its last 5 games.

Bulls at Hornets picks and predictions

Prediction

Bulls 112, Hornets 109

Moneyline

The moneyline was OTB at the time of publication, but when it does open it’ll be too large to warrant a wager on the Bulls who need the win Friday and will be a PASS.

Against the spread

The Hornets have easily covered the spread in each of their last 3 games, winning all 3 outright as underdogs of 10 points, 12.5 points and 15.5 points. Two of those wins were impressive victories against the Dallas Mavericks, a team fighting for playoff positioning.

With the way Charlotte is currently playing and with this being the Bulls’ 5th road game in the last 7 outings, BET HORNETS +8.5 (+100) to cover the spread.

Over/Under

The Hornets hadn’t been scoring at a very high clip until Tuesday’s win over the Thunder in which they scored 137 points, but they had recorded 5 straight Unders prior. These are two banged-up teams that could be fatigued from recent road games, so this should be a lower-scoring game in Charlotte.

BET UNDER 224.5 (-115).

Chicago Bulls at Charlotte Hornets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Chicago Bulls at Charlotte Hornets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago Bulls (22-25) and Charlotte Hornets (13-36) meet Thursday at Spectrum Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Bulls vs. Hornets odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Bulls failed to cover the spread as 1.5-point favorites Tuesday in a 116-110 loss at the Indiana Pacers. F DeMar DeRozan scored a game-high 33 points as Chicago blew a 21-point 1st-half lead. The Bulls are 4-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 5 games after failing to cover in their previous contest.

The Hornets failed to cover as 7.5-point underdogs Tuesday in a 128-97 loss at the Phoenix Suns. G Terry Rozier finished with a team-high 19 points for the Hornets, who have lost 7 of 9 games. Charlotte is 0-5 ATS in its last 5 home games.

Chicago covered as a 6.5-point home favorite in a 106-88 victory over Charlotte on Nov. 2 as the Under (224) connected.

Bulls at Hornets picks and predictions

Prediction

Bulls 117, Hornets 107

Moneyline

PASS.

The Bulls (-210) should win, but there is no need to risk more than twice your potential profit on the moneyline when Chicago should win by margin. Bet the spread or total instead.

Against the spread

BET BULLS -5.5 (-112).

The Bulls should be able to bounce back after blowing a 21-point lead to the lowly Pacers Tuesday. The Hornets have struggled at home recently and have had a hard time staying healthy. Chicago is 6-1 ATS vs. Charlotte in their last 7 meetings and should be able to take advantage of the Hornets’ recent struggles. Lay the points.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 234.5 (-115).

Many trends point toward taking the Under in this meeting. The Under is 4-0 in Chicago’s last 4 games vs. teams with a losing record and 4-0 in its last 4 road games. The Under is also 4-0 in Charlotte’s last 4 games vs. teams with a losing record. Look for these trends to continue and for Thursday’s meeting to be another low-scoring matchup.

Chicago Bulls at Charlotte Hornets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Chicago Bulls at Charlotte Hornets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago Bulls (33-21) meet the Charlotte Hornets (28-27) Wednesday at Spectrum Center for a 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off (on ESPN). Below, we look at the Bulls at Hornets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Chicago enters off back-to-back home losses to the Sixers (119-108 Sunday) and the Suns (127-124 Monday). Over the past two weeks, the Bulls 4-4 straight up (SU) and 5-3 against the spread (ATS).

Charlotte has lost seven of its past nine games (2-7 ATS), including five straight with the most recent being a 116-101 beatdown administered by the Raptors Monday.

The Bulls crushed the Hornets 133-119 in Chicago Nov. 29 as 5.5-point home favorites in their first meeting this season. Chicago has won and covered three straight versus Charlotte.

Bulls at Hornets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Bulls 121, Hornets 107

Money line

GIMME the BULLS (-130) because the Hornets have bigger injury concerns in this matchup and Charlotte’s offense has been terrible lately.

The Hornets will be without three wings, which is a problem when facing Bulls’ wings Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan.

McDaniels and Martin are Charlotte’s first-and third-best players by adjusted on/off net rating, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

LaVine, DeRozan and Bulls C Nikola Vucevic got whatever they wanted in Chicago’s victory over Charlotte earlier this season.

Those three former and/or current All-Stars scored a combined 83 points on 59.7% shooting.  I don’t see how the Hornets match up better with the Bulls this time around.

Lastly, Charlotte’s offense has significantly regressed this month. The Hornets are 29th in net rating and 28th in both assist-to-turnover ratio and effective field-goal shooting in January.

BET BULLS (-130) for 1 unit.

Against the spread

PASS.

Chicago’s money line (ML) is only 15 cents on the dollar more expensive than the Bulls -1.5 (-115), so let’s not fuss with the points even though Chicago should certainly cover this number.

Over/Under

LEAN to the UNDER 235.5 (-107) for a one-third unit if at all, because I prefer Chicago’s ML rather than the total.

However, the look-ahead total for Bulls-Hornets was set at 230.5 and my instinct is to fade such dramatic line movement. According to Pregame.com, roughly 80% of the money is on the Over even at this new total.

Also, Charlotte has gone Under the total in five straight games and two of the three referees assigned to this game have officiated more Overs.

Again, my favorite play is the Bulls SU, but I “LEAN” to the UNDER 235.5 (-107).
