Texans at Bears: Game notes

  • The Bears have lost six games in a row, with three of those losses coming by at least seven points.
  • Chicago has covered the spread in just one of its last six games, including a current 0-4 ATS streak.
  • The Texans have won all four of their meetings with the Bears going back to their inaugural 2004 campaign. They’ve won by average scores of 22.75 to 12.25.
  • Houston ranks second in passing yards per game (279.8), while Chicago’s defense ranks 17th in passing yards allowed (238.4).
  • The total has gone Under in six of the Bears’ last nine games and in four of the Texans’ last six.

Texans at Bears: Key injuries

Texans

  • WR Brandin Cooks (foot, neck) questionable
  • RB Duke Johnson (illness) questionable
  • RB David Johnson (personal) questionable

Bears

  • WR Darnell Mooney (personal) questionable
  • WR Allen Robinson (knee) questionable
  • OLB Khalil Mack (shoulder) questionable

Texans at Bears: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Texans 27, Bears 20

Money line (?)

The Bears simply aren’t a very good team. The defense is decent but the offense is one of the worst in the NFL due to poor quarterback play. The Texans may be lacking weapons for QB Deshaun Watson, but he has proven in the past he can overcome an underwhelming supporting cast.

I like the TEXANS (-125) to win straight up against the Bears on the road.

Against the spread (?)

The Bears, losers of their last six games, somehow still have a better record against the spread (5-7) than the Texans (4-8). Chicago hasn’t covered in any of its last four games, a streak that will extend to five in Week 14.

I feel confident in the TEXANS -1.5 (-110) to cover this spread and win by at least 2 points.

Over/Under (?)

Recent trends suggest this game will go Under the projected total. The total has gone Under in six of the Bears’ last nine, and in four of the Texans’ last six games; however, Houston has scored at least 20 points in each of its last three games and has scored fewer than 20 points only once in its last 10.

Bet the OVER 44.5 (-110) Sunday.

Lions at Bears: Game notes

  • The Lions look to turn over a new leaf with interim head coach Darrell Bevell taking over for the fired Matt Patricia. The latter, as well as general manager Bob Quinn, were relieved of their duties following a 41-25 setback against the Houston Texans on Thanksgiving.
  • Detroit is looking for redemption after blowing a 23-6 lead after three quarters against the Bears in Week 1, losing 27-23.
  • Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky is expected to start in Week 13. He engineered that Week 1 comeback, tossing 3 touchdowns in the fourth quarter. He has four straight games against the Lions with at least three TD strikes.
  • The Lions enter on an 0-2 ATS slide. They’re 1-4 ATS across their past five, and 4-7 ATS overall. They haven’t failed to cover in three in a row this season.
  • The Bears started the season 5-1 straight up and 4-2 ATS, but they’re in the midst of a five-game losing streak while going 1-4 ATS during the span.

Lions at Bears: Key injuries

Lions

  • DE Austin Bryant (thigh) questionable
  • WR Kenny Golladay (hip) out
  • DL Da’Shawn Hand (groin) out
  • CB Jeff Okudah (shoulder) out
  • QB Matthew Stafford (thumb) questionable
  • RB D’Andre Swift (illness) questionable
  • DB Tracy Walker (non-injury) questionable

Bears

  • QB Nick Foles (hip) questionable
  • DT Akiem Hicks (hamstring) questionable
  • OL Germain Ifedi (leg) questionable
  • LT Charles Leno Jr. (toe) questionable
  • LB Khalil Mack (back) questionable
  • WR Darnell Mooney (knee) questionable
  • WR Allen Robinson (knee) questionable
  • LB James Vaughters (knee) questionable
  • LB Josh Woods (foot) questionable

Lions at Bears: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bears 27, Lions 20

Money line (?)

The BEARS (-173) haven’t tasted victory since Week 6 at the Carolina Panthers, so they’re quite the risky play. Trubisky seems to be at his best when facing the Lions, and Chicago will level its record at .500 with a win against the division rival.

The Bears are a much less risky play on the money line than laying the points, although you should be fine there, too.

Against the spread (?)

The BEARS -3 (-115) are facing the Lions in Bevell’s first game at the helm. Chicago enters this one 4-1 ATS across the past five head-to-head meetings, and the Bears are 3-0-1 ATS in their past four home games against the Lions. Look for Chicago to finally get back on track.

Over/Under (?)

OVER 44.5 (-110) is a strong play in this NFC North battle. As mentioned above, Trubisky has tossed 3 touchdowns in each of his past four outings against the Lions. There’s something about the Silver and Honolulu Blue which brings out the best in him.

The Bears will be good for at least three touchdowns and will flirt with 30 points. The Lions should be able to inch the total Over the line, although no Golladay again hurts their pass game.

Bears at Packers: Game notes

  • The Bears enter on a four-game losing streak, most recently dropping a 19-13 decision at home to the Minnesota Vikings as 3.5-point underdogs in Week 10. QB Mitchell Trubisky (59.3% completion rate, 560 passing yards, 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions) returns as the starter after being benched in the middle of a Week 3 win at the Atlanta Falcons.
  • The Packers, who lead the NFC North by two games over the second-place Bears, are coming off a 34-31 overtime loss at the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11. Green Bay started the season 4-0 but is 3-3 over its last six games.
  • Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is 18-5 in games started against the Bears. For the season, the two-time MVP has thrown for 2,889 yards, completing 68.2% of his passes with 29 TDs vs. 4 picks.
  • Green Bay’s third-down situations should be the difference in this one. The Packers convert 47.9% of their third-down attempts, ranking fourth in the NFL. The Bears defense ranks third in allowing opponents to convert 33.3% of their third-down snaps.
  • The Bears are 5-5 ATS, and the Packers are 6-4 ATS with both teams failing to cover in each of their last two games.
  • The Packers took the last two games in the head-to-head series. They won 21-13 at home Dec. 15, 2019, as 4-point favorites, and prevailed 10-3 Sept. 5, 2019, as 3.5-point dogs.

Bears at Packers: Key injuries

Bears

  • OL Rashaad Coward (ankle, knee) questionable
  • QB Nick Foles (hip) doubtful
  • DT Akiem Hicks (hamstring) questionable
  • OT Charles Leno Jr. (toe) questionable
  • CB Buster Skrine (ankle) questionable
  • Sherrick McManis (hand) questionable

Packers

  • CB Josh Jackson (concussion) questionable
  • CB Kevin King (Achilles) questionable
  • C Corey Linsley (back) questionable
  • WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (Achilles) questionable
  • WR Equanimeous St. Brown (knee) questionable
  • RB Tyler Ervin (wrist, ribs) questionable

Bears at Packers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Packers 27, Bears 13

Money line (?)

PASS. The Packers will win, but the -417 price is not worth the risk.

Against the spread (?)

GREEN BAY -9 (-110) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1.5 times your usual wager. Look for Rodgers to continue his domination of Chicago. Plus, the Packers have had a full week to think about how they blew it at Indy last Sunday – they led 28-14 at the half before losing in OT.

Over/Under (?)

The UNDER 43.5 (-106) is the way to go. The Bears are 3-7 vs. the O/U this season, averaging just 19.1 points per game to rank second-to-last in the NFL. Plus, their defense is a stingy one, allowing 20.9 PPG to rank sixth.

Just beware of the Packers offense, which scores 30.8 PPG, third-best in the league.

Green Bay Packers favored in Week 12 Lambeau tilt vs. Chicago Bears

The Green Bay Packers are the betting favorites in their Week 12 home game vs. the Chicago Bears.

The Chicago Bears (5-5) and Green Bay Packers (7-3) will tangle in a Week 12 NFC Central showdown on Sunday Night Football. Kickoff at Lambeau Field is at 8:20 p.m. ET. Below, we take a look at the early Week 12 betting odds and lines at BetMGM Sportsbook.

The Packers coughed up a 14-point halftime lead on their way to a 34-31 overtime loss at the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11. QB Aaron Rodgers threw for 311 yards for his third straight 300-yard game for a Green Bay offense which ranks third in the league in scoring (30.8 points per game). Since 2017, the Packers are 5-1 against their longtime rivals.

The Bears, coming off a bye week, haven’t won since Oct. 18 and are 0-4 since. Three of those four losses – and four total on the season – have been by eight points or less. Chicago hasn’t won at Green Bay since 2015. The Bears rank 31st in NFL scoring (19.1 PPG) but a robust sixth in defensive points allowed (20.9 PPG).

Vikings at Bears: Game notes

  • Minnesota is a dismal 3-14 ATS in its last 17 games at Soldier Field.
  • The Bears are 5-1 ATS in their last six meetings with the Vikings.
  • Since 2018, Vikings RB Dalvin Cook has just 86 yards on 34 carries against the Bears and QB Kirk Cousins is 0-3 with the Vikings vs. the Bears.
  • Minnesota is 5-1 ATS in its last six games.
  • The Bears have hit the Under in five of their last six games, while the Vikings have hit the Over in five of their last six.

Bears

  • RB David Montgomery (concussion) out
  • WR Allen Robinson (knee) questionable
  • QB Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) out

Vikings at Bears: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Vikings 27, Bears 20

Money line (?)

Given Minnesota’s problems winning at Soldier Field, this one seems like a lot to ask for the Vikings (-183). The Bears (+155) are a solid play at home as a dog. Personally, I don’t like money line bets when I’m projecting the favorite. That said, I would AVOID this bet, but wouldn’t blame anyone for taking the Bears because of the bizarre history.

Against the spread (?)

MINNESOTA is a 3.5-point favorite (-110 Vikings, -110 Bears), but the way the bet is weighed seems to give the impression that the Bears should cover the spread. You have a Minnesota team that has been dominant with Cook and the Bears will have to contend with an offense with more weapons than they have. I’m not overly confident, but take MINNESOTA -3.5 (-110).

Over/Under (?)

The feeling is that the Bears defense will keep the Vikings in check and the Bears inept offense will keep the score low. Cook is having an MVP season and Chicago’s commitment to stopping him will open up Minnesota’s downfield pass game. Combine that with Minnesota’s dismal cornerback crew and there will be enough big plays made to surpass the number. Take the OVER 43.5 (-110).

Bears at Titans: Game notes

  • Despite being 5-2 this season, the Titans are only 2-5 ATS, including 0-2 in their last two games.
  • The total has gone Over in five of the Titans’ last six games.
  • Tennessee ranks third in rushing this season and sixth in points scored.
  • Chicago’s defense has allowed the eighth-fewest points but ranks just 18th against the run.
  • The total has gone Under in four of the Bears’ last five games.

Bears at Titans: Key injuries

Bears

  • C Cody Whitehair (COVID-19) out
  • S Eddie Jackson (knee) questionable
  • WR Anthony Miller (toe) questionable
  • S Tashaun Gipson Sr. (foot) questionable

Titans

  • OLB Jadeveon Clowney (knee) questionable
  • WR A.J. Brown (knee) questionable
  • WR Adam Humphries (concussion) questionable
  • DT Jeffery Simmons (ankle) questionable

Bears at Titans: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Titans 27, Bears 17

Money line (?)

As disappointing and shocking as the Titans’ loss to the Cincinnati Bengals was last week, it’s not an indication of what this team is. They’re far better than the Bears, who haven’t gotten much better at quarterback since switching to Nick Foles.

The Titans can control this game with their rushing attack, which is an area where the Bears have struggled this year. Take the TITANS (-304) to win outright

Against the spread (?)

The Titans are favored by 6.5 points over Chicago. It’s a fairly large spread for a team that has lost back-to-back games, but the Titans match up well with Chicago. QB Ryan Tannehill is efficient and takes care of the football, avoiding costly mistakes.

RB Derrick Henry will be the difference, however, putting together a strong performance against the Bears. Take the TITANS -6.5 (-115) to win this one by a touchdown or more.

Over/Under (?)

The Titans offense isn’t a concern here, but it’s the Bears who won’t pull their weight. The Over/Under of 47.5 is fairly high considering how poorly Chicago’s offense has played, which makes me lean more toward the Under.

Tennessee’s defense isn’t great but it’s good enough to contain the Bears offense. Take the UNDER 47.5 (-110) in this matchup, with the Titans expected to limit each team’s possessions by running the ball often.
