Cheerleaders are a huge part of the show at college games
The Miami Heat dancers, known for their electrifying performances, have been an integral part of the NBA experience since the team’s inception in 1988.

The Laker Girls are the most renowned cheerleading squad in the NBA. When Jerry Buss acquired the Lakers in 1979, he made sure to include a dance team in his Showtime philosophy. This team quickly became an integral part of the Lakers’ experience. Successful dancers and singers like Paula Abdul started their careers as Laker Girl.

The Bucs have taken legal action against the Saints in a trademark dispute centered on New Orleans’ cheerleading team:

A trademark battle has begun between two NFL teams.
The Buccaneers have taken legal action to block a trademark filed by the Saints for "SAINTS CHEER KREWE."
Why?
Per filings, the Bucs claim they were the first to use the term KREWE.

This is almost comical. Washington, D.C.-based trademark attorney Josh Gerben shared news on Friday that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are taking legal action against one of their division rivals, claiming that the New Orleans Saints’ 2022 rebranding of their cheer team violates a trademark.
Last year, the “Saintsations” were renamed the “Saints Cheer Krewe” as a nod to New Orleans’ centuries-long tradition of revelry krewes on Mardi Gras floats, and as a more inclusive practice given the addition of male performers to the team. It makes sense seeing as New Orleans also takes pride in its male dance groups like the 610 Stompers.
As for the merits to the Buccaneers’ complaint: Gerben notes that Tampa Bay has trademarked “krewe” for use in its loyalty club member program, team promotions and marketing, apparel, memorabilia and other merchandise, though the Saints have thus far exclusively used the term for their cheerleaders.
It’s kind of embarrassing that Tampa Bay is making a fuss over this, much less taking legal action when they could probably have settled things out of court. That could still be the conclusion, preventing anything from going to court, but it’s something to watch out for in the months ahead.

The first session of training is set to take place from 8:30 AM ET to 11:30 AM ET with a second round to begin at 1 PM ET until 4 PM ET. Fans are encouraged to show their Ravens pride at the event ahead of the 2023 NFL draft, which will take place at the end of the month in Kansas City, Missouri.
Cheerleaders to the rescue!
The first game of the Final Four in the women’s NCAA tournament on Friday night hit a small hiccup early on, but it opened the door for the return of hero cheerleaders.
Barely 30 seconds into No. 1 seed Virginia Tech’s matchup against No. 3 LSU, the ball got stuck behind the backboard, momentarily pausing the game. But the Tigers cheerleaders knew exactly what to do — and fans who have seen cheerleaders save the day before, including during March Madness, knew how this would resolve.
Two LSU cheerleaders showed off their skills with one lifting the other up to knock the ball out so the Final Four game could carry on.

#Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill was an honorary member of @ChiefsCheer last night during his TD celebration.
When Chiefs Cheer holds open tryouts next season, they might have their eye on a certain wide receiver.
Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill was extra pumped up when he scored a 31-yard touchdown reception on what would be QB Patrick Mahomes’ fifth touchdown of the night. Hill thought he had caught the fourth touchdown pass of the evening, but officials overturned the play in replay review. That ultimately led to a Nick Allegretti touchdown grab, so maybe it was for the better.
However, the frustration of not scoring the first time around had Hill feeling extra peppy when he actually scored his first touchdown of the night. After the points were on the board, Hill danced with the Arrowhead Stadium crowd a bit before running over and stealing some pom-poms from a Chiefs cheerleader. He was dancing and having so much fun with the cheerleaders that Mahomes had to run up and pull him away.
Chiefs fan Shane Stevens caught the celebration in action from the sideline:

A new report shows that the Washington Football Team is putting a pause on its cheerleading program, with the Cheerleading Director, Jamilla Keene, being removed from her position.
According to the report from WUSA9, the program say they are re-envisioning the program and are going to take the team to another form. The team is bringing in a consultant from Carnival Cruise for rebranding, according to the source.
This news comes after a months-long investigation into the team’s alleged mistreatment of female employees. There were stories of cheerleaders being mistreated and asked to do things by ownership that led to sexual harassment allegations. Haynes reports that it is not clear if the removal of Keene has anything to do with the investigation, which is reportedly coming to an end.
