Checker Neyland game announced for Tennessee football in 2024

Tennessee announced a Checker Neyland game for the Vols in 2024.

Tennessee will host Florida at Neyland Stadium on Oct. 12. Tennessee announced the Vols will Checker Neyland for the Southeastern Conference contest.

The matchup will also be the Vols’ first SEC home game for the 2024 campaign.

Tennessee will open its season on Aug. 31 versus Chattanooga at Neyland Stadium (12:45 p.m. EDT, SEC Network).

Tennessee’s home schedule in 2024 for SEC games are against Florida, Alabama, Kentucky and Mississippi State.

The Vols’ road SEC schedule features contests at OklahomaArkansasGeorgia and Vanderbilt.

Tennessee’s other nonconference games are against North Carolina State (Charlotte, North Carolina), Kent State and UTEP.

No. 17 Tennessee (5-1, 2-1 SEC) defeated Texas A&M (4-3, 2-2 SEC), 20-13, Saturday at Neyland Stadium.

Quarterback Joe Milton III completed 11-of-22 passing attempts for 100 yards, one touchdown and one interception versus the Aggies. He also rushed for 34 yards on eight attempts.

Running back Jaylen Wright led the Vols with 136 rushing yards. Wide receiver Chas Nimrod led Tennessee with four receptions and 31 receiving yards.

Linebackers Aaron Beasley and Elijah Herring led Tennessee with five tackles each. Tyler Baron and James Pearce Jr. recorded one sack each, while Kamal Hadden and Gabe Jeudy-Lally had one interception each.

Tennessee announced Checker Neyland will return in 2023.

The Vols will checker Neyland Stadium orange and white for its Oct. 14 matchup versus Texas A&M. Kickoff between the Vols and Aggies is slated for 3:30 p.m. EDT. CBS will televise the Southeastern Conference matchup.

Fans are encouraged to wear orange or white, depending on their seat location. To find out if your seat section is orange or white, visit CheckerNeyland.com and enter your section, row and seat number as it appears on a digital ticket. Fans in the north end zone social deck are encouraged to wear white.

Neyland Stadium gates will open at 1:30 p.m. EDT.

Josh Heupel discusses Checker Neyland for Tennessee-Ole Miss game

Josh Heupel discusses Checker Neyland for the Tennessee-Ole Miss game at Neyland Stadium.

Tennessee (4-2, 2-1 SEC) will host No. 14 Ole Miss (4-1, 1-1 SEC) and head coach Lane Kiffin on Saturday at Neyland Stadium in Week 7.

Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. EDT and SEC Network will televise the matchup.

First-year Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel met with media on Monday ahead of playing Ole Miss. Heupel discussed Checker Neyland if fans decide to checker Neyland Stadium in orange and white sections.

“I’m into whatever our fans want to do on Saturday night,” Heupel said. “You want to play an exciting brand of football and want your fans to enjoy it. Need to make it a hostile environment — make it tough for them.”
