Michigan football secures commitment from LB in SEC country

The #Michigan staff loves this guy! #GoBlue

Michigan football recruiting is heating up in a big way as it finishes up the slate of 2025 official visit weekends during the offseason.

Of those who made it to town for ‘Victors Weekend’ is 2025 Stockbridge (Ga.) linebacker Chase Taylor. Taylor’s recruitment has been somewhat close to the vest but he appeared to be between Michigan, South Carolina, in-state Georgia Tech, and USC.

Highly prioritized by linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary and the coaching staff, Taylor is rated a three-star but has an offer sheet more befitting of a four-star. And upon visiting Ann Arbor on June 21, he shut down his recruitment, committing to the Wolverines.

Here is how Taylor is ranked according to the recruiting services:

Stars Ovr Pos State
247Sports Composite 3 580 61 63
On3 Industry Ranking 3 601 69 64
247Sports 3 105 114
On3 3 56 71
Rivals 3
ESPN 3 16 56

Taylor is Michigan’s first linebacker commit in the 2025 class. The Wolverines are in desperate need at the position after losing Junior Colson and Mike Barrett to the draft and Hayden Moore, Semaj Bridgeman, and Jeremiah Beasley via the transfer portal.

He also had offers from Tennessee, Florida State, LSU, North Carolina, Clemson, Kentucky, and others.

Michigan football predicted to land 2025 LB from SEC country

Buckle up! #GoBlue

Michigan football is set to host its biggest recruiting weekend of the late spring, dubbed ‘victors weekend,’ and one player who will be coming to Ann Arbor appears to be favoring the Wolverines.

Hailing from Stockbridge (Ga.), Chase Taylor is a three-star linebacker who appears to be deciding between Michigan, Georgia Tech, and South Carolina. He has other impressive offers, including Clemson, Florida State, Kentucky, LSU, Tennessee, and USC.

But the maize and blue might be the team to beat, as evidenced by 247Sports’ Steve Lorenz putting in a 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction indicating he’ll end up in Ann Arbor.

Taylor is athletic and also plays basketball. He’s listed at 6-foot-3, 201 pounds and is primarily being recruited by linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary.

He’s rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 571 player in the country, regardless of position, the 60th-best linebacker, and the No. 59 player in the state of Georgia.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Michigan the slight edge over USC at 36.8% to 32.2%.

LSU offers 3-star linebacker from Stockbridge, Georgia

Georgia Tech is a 26% favorite to land Chase Taylor per On3.

[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and his recruiting staff took a trip to Stockbridge, Georgia, to extend a scholarship offer to one of the best linebackers in the 2025 recruiting class. LSU will have to fight off a swarm of yellow jackets to land the talented prospect.

[autotag]Chase Taylor[/autotag] is a 6-foot-3, 201-pound, three-star linebacker from Stockbridge, Georgia, where he plays for Stockbridge High School. The Stockbridge Tigers finished the 2023 season 12-3 with a loss to Perry in the 4A state championship game.

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Taylor at this time but Georgia Tech is a 26% favorite to land him per On3.

Film Analysis: Taylor is a linebacker who has very good instincts in the running and the passing game.
