The UFC’s 2022 schedule gets off to a start Saturday with UFC on ESPN 32, which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas with a main card that airs on ESPN following prelims on ESPN+.

A critical matchup between featherweight contenders takes place in the main event. [autotag]Calvin Kattar[/autotag] (22-5 MMA, 6-3 UFC) attempts to rebound from his memorable loss to Max Holloway a year ago when he takes on the surging [autotag]Giga Chikadze[/autotag] (14-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC), who has yet to be beat inside the octagon.

UFC on ESPN 29 medical suspensions: Jared Cannonier, flyweight contenders face lengthy time off

Check out the list of medical suspensions from UFC on ESPN 29 in Las Vegas.

[autotag]Jared Cannonier[/autotag] and [autotag]Alexandre Pantoja[/autotag] exited UFC on ESPN 29 on a wave of momentum after their wins – but they didn’t do so unscathed.

Both Cannonier and Pantoja were handed 180-day suspensions by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC), according to a list MMA Junkie acquired Wednesday from MixedMartialArts.com, the ABC’s official database.

In his main event win over [autotag]Kelvin Gastelum[/autotag], Cannonier suffered a right foot injury. As for Pantoja, a win in a potential title eliminator battle with [autotag]Brandon Royval[/autotag] resulted in a left knee injury. Depending on the severity of the fighters’ injuries, they could be ineligible to compete until February.

Also receiving 180-day suspensions were the aforementioned Royval, [autotag]Luis Saldana[/autotag], [autotag]Domingo Pilarte[/autotag], and [autotag]Josiane Nunes[/autotag].

It’s important to note fighters’ suspensions may terminate sooner than the date listed if their injury is cleared by a medical doctor.

UFC on ESPN 29: Parker Porter vs. Chase Sherman odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing UFC on ESPN 29 odds and lines between Parker Porter and Chase Sherman, with MMA picks, tips and predictions.

In a heavyweight bout on the main card, Parker Porter faces Chase Sherman Saturday at UFC on ESPN 29 – also known as UFC Vegas 34 – at the UFC’s APEX Facility. Below, we analyze the UFC on ESPN 29 Porter vs. Sherman odds and lines, with MMA picks and predictions.

The prelims will be televised on ESPN2/ESPN+ at 7 p.m. ET, with the main card will be televised on ESPN/ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET.

Porter has had mixed results since joining the promotion. He dropped his debut to Chris Daukaus at UFC 252 before pushing past Josh Parisian last time out via unanimous decision Nov. 28.

Sherman, a.k.a. “The Vanilla Gorilla”, is looking to rebound after a disappointing unanimous-decision loss April 17 to veteran Andrei Arlovski his last time out. It was a rare fight going the distance for Sherman as his previous five pro bouts had ended via stoppage.

UFC on ESPN 29 Porter vs. Sherman: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Porter (11-6-0) | Sherman (15-7-0)

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

Sherman (-200) is a little too pricey for my liking, costing you two times your potential return. Instead, look to METHOD OF VICTORY and play SHERMAN BY KO/TKO (+120) for a much better value.

Over/Under (O/U)

I believe Sherman gets the finish and as such will look to NO (-210): WILL THE FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE?, although it’s a little on the expensive side.

However, I think the fight goes at least into the second half of Round 2 making OVER 1.5 ROUNDS (-170) worth the play as well.

UFC on ESPN 22 results: Andrei Arlovski bests Chase Sherman for 20th UFC win

Andre Arlovski, at 42, is still claiming wins in the octagon.

[autotag]Andrei Arlovski[/autotag] is not slowing down.

The former UFC heavyweight champion is still picking up victories even 22 years after his professional MMA debut. The 42-year-old Arlovski (31-20 MMA, 20-14 UFC) out-pointed [autotag]Chase Sherman[/autotag] for a unanimous decision that read 29-28 across all three judges’ scorecards.

The heavyweight clash served as the co-main event of Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 22 event in Las Vegas. Jeremy Stephens vs. Drakkar Klose was originally scheduled as the co-main event of the card, but a same day cancellation promoted Arlovski vs. Sherman (15-7 MMA, 3-6 UFC) to the co-headlining act.

In the first round, both fighters started hot as they exchanged hard strikes that connected well. Sherman mainly walked down Arlovski, but both had similar levels of output. The fight was even until there was a minute remaining in the round. Sherman connected hard and wobbled Arlovski. He followed up with more punches further hurting the former champ, but not enough to put him away. Arlovski did a good job surviving and staying in the fight until the bell rang.

The second round was close, but Arlovski seemed to get the better of the exchanges. Both fighter landed plenty of shots, but Arlovski focused a lot more on leg kicks and battered Sherman badly throughout the round. There was significant redness and swelling on Sherman’s left leg.

Starting the final round, Sherman’s mobility was compromised. “The Vanilla Gorilla” was moving slow and chasing after Arlovski a lot less. Arlovski was able to bounce around Sherman, landing varied attacks to the body, head and legs. Arlovski connected well and often but wasn’t bale to put away Sherman, who also had some good moments.

[lawrence-related id=603699,603958]

With this result, Arlovski picks up his 20th win in the UFC. He moves into tie for fourth on the all-time UFC wins list, tying Michael Bisping, Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre.

The American Top Team product is 3-1 in his past four trips to the octagon. He made his UFC debut in November 2000 and he was champion of the promotion back in 2006.

Meanwhile, Sherman saw a four-fight wining streak come to an end. He’s 1-1 since re-joining the UFC in 2020.

Below are the updated results for UFC on ESPN 22:

  • Andrei Arlovski def. Chase Sherman via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

UFC on ESPN 22 Arlovski vs. Sherman: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Records: Arlovski 30-20 | Sherman 15-6

Fight result (2-way line or money line)

The veteran ARLOVSKI (-115) is a warrior. The 42-year-old Belarusian is coming off a submission loss against Tom Aspinall last time out on Feb. 20.

Prior to that, he had a pair of unanimous-decision victories against Tanner Boser and Philipe Lins. He is a little long in the tooth, but he remains in tremendous shape, and can easily handle fighters much younger than himself.

Sherman (-105) returned to UFC with a second-round KO/TKO of Ike Villanueva last time out on May 13, 2020, but Arlovski represents a huge step up in competition.

He is 1-3 across his past four UFC fights, and just 3-5 since making his UFC debut on Aug. 6, 2016.

Over/Under (O/U)

Four of Arlovski’s last six fights have ended up going the distance, while three of Sherman’s past four UFC fights, and each of his past five professional bouts, have resulted in stoppages.

ARLOVSKI BY KO/TKO, DQ OR SUBMISSION (+290) is worth a roll of the dice for a chance to nearly triple up, although go lightly.

In addition, playing ARLOVSKI IN ROUND 1 (+650), ARLOVSKI IN ROUND 2 (+1000) and ARLOVSKI IN ROUND 3 (+1500) is worth a bet.

Yes, you will lose two of the rounds, even if he gets the finish, but you’ll still be well ahead, especially if it goes deeper than the first round.

In addition, I like NO (+105): WILL THE FIGHT GO THE DISTANCE?, and UNDER 2.5 ROUNDS (+130) is a pretty good value, too.
