Former Winthrop forward Chandler Vaudrin reportedly suffered a torn ACL with the Cleveland Cavaliers during the Las Vegas Summer League and will undergo surgery next week to repair the injury.
Vaudrin, who signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Cavaliers after going undrafted, suffered the injury in the third game versus the New Orleans Pelicans. He would not play again and finished summer league by averaging 1.7 points, three rebounds and two assists in three games.
The 6-foot-7 standout was named the 2020-21 Big South Conference Player of the Year after averaging 12 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.2 steals per game. He was the first player in program history to lead the team in all four categories in the same season.

Vaudrin would have appeared with the Cavaliers in training camp and likely could have competed for a two-way contract. He would have spent much of the season in the NBA G League with the Cleveland Charge but now will need to rehab his knee following surgery.
