Josh Heupel was hired as Tennessee’s head coach on Jan. 27.
Heupel is in the process of completing his coaching staff at Tennessee.
Chad Walker is a rising coach in the profession and is now available after leaving the Atlanta Falcons during a head coaching change.
Walker served as safeties coach for Atlanta in 2020 and as an assistant from 2018-19 for the Falcons. He initially came to Atlanta as a defensive assistant in 2015 for two seasons before serving as outside linebackers coach at Arkansas (2017).
Walker coached alongside Heupel at Oklahoma from 2013-14. He was a defensive quality control coach, while Heupel served as the Sooners’ co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Walker began his coaching career as a student assistant at LSU in 2000 under Nick Saban.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in education with a concentration in kinesiology, Walker served one season as a graduate assistant at West Virginia.
Walker returned to LSU and was a defensive graduate assistant from 2003-04 under Saban. He followed Saban to the Miami Dolphins as a defensive quality control coach in 2005 for two seasons.
Walker has served as a defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Bryant University (2008-10) and Mississippi College (2011-12).
