Former Tennessee pitchers Chad Dallas and Blade Tidwell started against each other in Double-A matchup on Wednesday.

Former Tennessee pitcher Blade Tidwell made his Double-A debut Wednesday with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Binghamton competes in the Eastern League and is an affiliate of the New York Mets.

Tidwell started and pitched 4.0 innings in the Rumble Ponies’, 3-1, loss versus the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Tidwell recorded two strikeouts, while allowing three earned runs, four hits and four walks.

Former Tennessee pitcher Chad Dallas started and earned a win for New Hampshire in the contest. He pitched 7.0 innings, recording five strikeouts, while allowing one run and one walk.

Tidwell was selected by the Mets in the second-round (No. 52 overall) of the 2022 MLB draft.

Dallas was selected by Toronto in the fourth-round of the 2021 MLB draft (No. 121 overall).

Former Tennessee player Chad Dallas was named Northwest League Pitcher of the Week following his first start of the season.

Dallas plays for the Vancouver Canadians, a High-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. He pitched five shutout innings in his professional debut on April 13.

Dallas did not give up a hit and surrendered one walk en route to earning his first win of the season.

The former Vol totaled 68 pitches, including 45 strikes. Dallas retired the last 15 batters he faced after opening his start by yielding a leadoff walk.

He was a fourth-round selection in the 2021 MLB draft by the Blue Jays.

Former University of Tennessee pitcher Chad Dallas made his first professional start of the 2022 season Wednesday for Vancouver, a Class A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Dallas, a fourth-round pick by Toronto in the 2021 MLB draft, pitched five scoreless innings. The former Vol retired the last 15 batters he faced after allowing a leadoff walk.

He totaled 68 pitches, including 45 strikes and recorded eight strikeouts.

Dallas transferred to Tennessee from Panola College. He played two seasons for the Vols.

Dallas was named second-team All-America by Rawlings/ABCA and third-team All-America by the NCBWA in 2021.

Tennessee won the Southeastern Conference East division and appeared in the College World Series last season.

2021 MLB draft: Vols’ pitcher Chad Dallas selected by Toronto

Tennessee pitcher Chad Dallas drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays.

University of Tennessee pitcher Chad Dallas was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday.

Dallas, a right-handed pitcher for the Volunteers, was selected by Toronto in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball first-year player draft.

A native of Orange Texas, Dallas was taken with the No. 121 overall selection.

Dallas began his collegiate career at Panola College before playing for Tennessee.

He found his spot on Tennessee’s pitching staff as the Vols’ Friday night starter.

He went 11-2 for the Big Orange in 2021 and was a key figure in Tennessee finishing second in the Southeastern Conference and winning the conference’s Eastern Division championship.

The Vols finished 50-18 in 2021 and advanced to the College World Series for the fifth time in program history. UT made its first trip to the College World Series since 2005.

Tennessee pitcher Chad Dallas received third-team All-America honors Wednesday.

Dallas, a junior pitcher and the Volunteers’ Friday night starter throughout the 2021 season, was named third-team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

He is the second Tennessee player to pick up postseason All-America honors this season, joining fellow junior and infielder Jake Rucker, who was named All-America by Collegiate Baseball News.

Dallas, a native of Orange, Texas, has posted an 11-1 record this season. He has started 16 games. His 11 victories are the most recorded by a Vols’ pitcher since 2005 and ranks sixth in UT history.

Dallas has 118 strikeouts in 2021, eighth among Tennessee pitchers during a single season in program history.

He and the Vols open play in the College World Series Sunday against Virginia.

First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. EDT at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
